"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this predicament!"
I, Compressed Biscuit, simply cannot become widely known in such a short time.
Jiang Han directly confronted me, then mocked, "It's a pity that your Hui Xin Ju has been consumed so often; it might lose its business appeal. This only proves that Prince is not suited for commerce!"
"Are you mocking my incompetence?" Che Chengyun roared in question.
"I didn't say anything first; you did!" Jiang Han chuckled lightly, waving his hand. "If you're interested in my Compressed Biscuit, I can personally give you two pieces to take home and enjoy slowly."
Che Chengyun glared at Jiang Han, his eyes red with anger.
"Is this how you treat me? Like a dog? And then suggest I take it home to nibble on?"
"Oh, and remember to be careful while eating!" Jiang Han continued to taunt. "Don't end up like your subordinate who bit down and broke his two front teeth. If you break your teeth, I certainly can't bear the wrath of Langya Prince."
Che Chengyun clenched his fists; if it weren't for Luo Yuhua being present, he would have punched Jiang Han.
After a moment of silence, he gritted his teeth and said, "Rest assured, my Langya Wangfu is not like some petty individuals who are small-minded. Even if we consume your Compressed Biscuit and have dental issues, we won't come looking for you! My Langya Wangfu hasn't sunk to that level."
"Besides, when did I say that my Langya Wangfu wanted to buy your Compressed Biscuit?"
Seeing Che Chengyun like this, Jiang Han realized that pushing further might provoke him into a reckless rage, which would be detrimental for himself.
Just as he returned to the counter, he noticed two middle-aged men waiting for him and looked over at Yan Dong.
Yan Dong approached quietly and whispered, " Shopkeeper Jiang, these are two generals from the Military Department: one is the Dragon Tiger General, a Third Rank officer, and the other is the Southern General, also of Third Rank!"
The court has its hierarchy; without a First-Rank General, the highest rank is the Second-Rank General. Below the commanders are the various titled generals like the Dragon Tiger General, the Heavenly Might General, and so forth.
Upon seeing Jiang Han, the Southern General slightly cupped his fist in greeting and presented his token before speaking: " Shopkeeper Jiang, how much of your Compressed Biscuit do you have? I would like to privately order some under my personal name for an initial batch! In the future, I expect the court will make large purchases; with so many troops nationwide, my unit will surely benefit."
"Since I'm here now, why not find you first to buy some?"
"I remember you are a general under the command of Langya Wangfu, right?" Jiang Han asked with a smile.
The Southern General felt a bit uneasy and whispered, "Within the court, both the Langya Prince and the Lingnan King hold significant power. As generals, we have no choice but to take sides; it is not that we are absolute confidants, but rather that we do not wish to be purged for failing to align ourselves. I hope you can understand, Shopkeeper Jiang."
The generals under the Lingnan King were numerous, with many holding the Third Rank. These generals were like reeds swaying in the wind, following whoever was strongest.
On Lin Qingyue's side, she only had her Jiang Jiang and Retainer. In the court, she could not compete with the might of the Lingnan King.
Seeing this, Jiang Han said, "I need to think it over. You can register with me for now. If I decide to sell, I will prioritize selling to you!"
"Thank you, Shopkeeper Jiang!" The Southern General understood the situation well.
Jiang Han was boldly using the Langya Prince's name to promote his Compressed Biscuit, clearly risking offending the Langya Wangfu. However, since Jiang Han dared to do this, he must have the backing of the Lingnan King. Therefore, whether he sold to himself or not might depend on what the Lingnan King thought.
As a nominal subordinate of the Langya Prince, during critical moments, all he needed to do was choose a side; what he purchased was none of the Langya Prince's concern!
Soon after, it wasn't just this Southern General; many generals came to Jiang Han wanting to order Compressed Biscuits! Some even bypassed the military supply department and purchased directly from Jiang Han!
Each general had their own Jiang Jiang and personal guards, numbering anywhere from three to a thousand. This was the elite backbone of their forces; with these men, they could fully command their armies for battle. The Compressed Biscuits they sought from Jiang Han were prioritized for their elite guards.
Che Chengyun saw several subordinates of the Langya Wangfu at Jiang Han's place buying Compressed Biscuits and was instantly furious.
Xu Yao cautiously suggested, "Your Highness, should we stop them?"
"Shut your mouth if you have no brains!" Che Chengyun roared.
If they were to prevent these generals from purchasing, it would send a message: buying is prohibited right now. There was a chance that in the future they would be unable to buy at all; Jiang Han might refuse to sell Compressed Biscuits to any generals affiliated with the Langya Wangfu.
As a result, while Ming Mian would show no purchases by generals officially, behind the scenes there would be plenty buying from Jiang Han. Those who originally belonged to the Langya Wangfu could find themselves in contact with people from the Lingnan King over time. Eventually, some might choose to defect and become subordinates of the Lingnan King, thus harming their own faction.
"What should we do then?" Xu Yao asked.
"Let’s go!" Che Chengyun flicked his sleeve and headed toward the Wangfu to consult his father about how to handle this matter.
On his way there, he thought it would be best if his father could step in on behalf of the court and forcefully acquire the Compressed Biscuits from Jiang Han! If Jiang Han refused, they would have grounds to deal with him—an accusation of disrespecting court laws would be established.
Su Qianxue received the Compressed Biscuit that the maid had brought back. After tasting it, she found it quite good and decided to stay, waiting until the evening when Jiang Han announced the closing of the shop before finally making her way to the entrance.
" Shopkeeper Jiang, your Compressed Biscuit is selling well, but I wonder how much you have?" Su Qianxue asked nervously.
During her wait, she had been pondering over the Compressed Biscuit and realized that with the current craftsmanship in the court, it would be nearly impossible to produce such quality biscuits. Even if they managed to create something similar, they wouldn't be able to match the shelf life or cost of the Compressed Biscuit in Jiang Han's possession.
"How much do you need? I can provide as much as you want," Jiang Han said with interest, inviting Su Qianxue inside. He boldly declared, "Even if you need enough Compressed Biscuits for a Wan Dajun, I can supply that for you. Not only that, but I can also offer some unexpected items!"
