Although Zhou Xuemei was carefree, she didn’t dare to act recklessly anymore. The Azure Green Society, if it was anything like the movies set in Hong Kong Island, would be terrifying; they were definitely not good people. Compared to some underground bosses from the mainland provinces, they were just as strong, if not stronger.
Jiang Chen looked up at the Mountain Peak. The location was indeed great, but he didn’t mind it much. As for the fact that this was Lin Rumei’s territory, he wasn’t surprised; it was normal for someone like her to have assets on Hong Kong Island.
After Mark helped Jiang Chen secure a room at the foot of the mountain, everyone took a short break before heading out in groups to explore Hong Kong Island. Jiang Chen also took this opportunity to stroll around.
Mark, wanting to show off in front of Jiang Chen, frequently boasted about his connections, background, and experience, trying to prove that he outshone Jiang Chen in every aspect before Lin Jingzhu.
Jiang Chen smiled silently. To him, Mark’s indirect bragging was quite laughable and merely a joke to enjoy. However, seeing Jiang Chen’s silence, Mark mistakenly thought he was feeling inferior and became even more smug.
With a group of girls traveling to Hong Kong Island, shopping was inevitable. They stopped at a luxury goods store on Causeway Bay’s pedestrian street.
“This is the new Hermès bag released this year! I haven’t even seen it in Beijing; I can’t believe it’s here! I have to get it,” Zhou Xuemei exclaimed as her eyes lit up upon spotting a bag in the store. She grabbed Lin Jingzhu and rushed inside.
The other classmates followed suit, but most were just browsing. Although luxury brands were slightly cheaper on Hong Kong Island, they were still beyond the reach of ordinary people.
“Is this bag pretty?” Zhou Xuemei asked her classmates as she picked up the Hermès bag she liked.
“It’s beautiful, but it costs over seventy thousand,” someone replied.
“Li Li is a little rich girl; seventy thousand is just pocket change for her,” another classmate joked.
“Of course! Money is no problem for me,” Zhou Xuemei laughed and asked the sales assistant to wrap up the bag.
Seeing Zhou Xuemei immediately decide to buy a bag upon entering, the sales assistant knew this group must have money and quickly began promoting their products enthusiastically. However, the others could only look on enviously; one bag cost as much as several months’ salary for an office worker—if not half a year’s salary—making it unaffordable for an average family. The group of girls could only admire Zhou Xuemei from afar.
“Jingzhu, I think this bag would really suit you,” Mark said at some point, handing Lin Jingzhu another bag for her to try on.
“I-I can’t use something so extravagant,” Lin Jingzhu quickly declined. Although Lin Shihui had left enough money for her daughter’s education and living expenses before passing away, she couldn’t afford a life of luxury. Just being able to travel this time was already a big deal; there was no way she would dare buy luxury items.
“Don’t worry; you won’t have to pay for it. I’ll get it for you,” Mark said generously.
Everyone at school knew about Mark and Lin Jingzhu's relationship. To pursue Lin Jingzhu, Mark often did small favors for her classmates. So naturally, everyone wanted to support him at this moment.
“Jingzhu, your senior is really good to you! This bag suits you perfectly and it’s a limited edition Hermès shoulder bag!” one female classmate chimed in with a smile.
