Lin Jingzhu felt extremely awkward. Although her classmates often teased her about Mark, she usually brushed it off with a smile. But today, with Jiang Chen present, she was not keen on hearing such jokes.
"If Jingzhu agrees to be my girlfriend, I'll treat everyone today—each person gets a Kelly belt," Mark chimed in with a grin.
A Kelly belt costs around seven thousand yuan, which is quite expensive. For over ten people, that would total nearly a hundred thousand yuan. While Mark was considered a wealthy second-generation heir, he wasn't among the top tier, so spending that much on gifts was significant.
Upon hearing Mark's words, Lin Jingzhu's classmates became excited, urging her to accept his offer with laughter.
"Senior, I'm sorry, but I'm not used to luxury items. I appreciate your kindness, but please don't go to such expense," Lin Jingzhu replied awkwardly. In this moment, she had shed her past tendency for vanity. Jiang Chen realized that his rebirth might significantly impact Lin Jingzhu's life trajectory.
"Don't be modest! Waiter, bring the bill," Mark said directly. He felt embarrassed if Lin Jingzhu refused his gift.
Lin Jingzhu felt helpless; she didn't want to confront Mark since he was her senior. After hesitating for a moment, she said, "Senior, I'll transfer the money back to you later."
"It's just a few tens of thousands; don't take it to heart. A sword for a hero and a charm for a beauty—it's a perfect match," Mark laughed.
Jiang Chen observed quietly and didn't want to get involved in such matters. To him, Mark's behavior seemed as childish as that of kindergarten kids.
However, the more silent Jiang Chen was, the more animated Mark became.
"Jiang Chen, this Miss Ding is so beautiful! Since you've brought her on this trip, you can't be stingy. Waiter, let this Miss Ding choose a bag. If Mr. Jiang won't pay for it, I will!" Mark announced loudly.
Ding Yan was taken aback; although she was a girl, she wasn't particularly interested in bags. Moreover, it was clear that Mark was trying to provoke Jiang Chen. Ding Yan found it ridiculous that Mark would flaunt his wealth in front of Jiang Chen—one hundred Marks wouldn't match up to him financially.
Jiang Chen smiled faintly and said, "Senior Chu, it's not good to show favoritism as a senior. Since you're giving Jingzhu a bag, you should give one to everyone else too. If you can't afford it, I can help you out."
"Haha, you're quite bold! Looking at your clothes combined doesn't even cost as much as a single Hermes wallet. You think you can act rich here? You should know your own worth and not make a fool of yourself. And do you really think I can't afford it? Even if I give one to everyone, it's only a million," Mark sneered.
"Then go ahead and give them," Jiang Chen replied casually.
"You want me to give them? Do you take me for a fool? And looking at you, I can tell you've never bought luxury items before. This bag is limited edition; if I give one to everyone, what meaning would it have in giving one to Jingzhu?" Mark defended himself; he wasn't foolish enough to fall for Jiang Chen's provocation and spend a million on bags for everyone.
"The senior is right; we only want one Kelly belt."
