“Puppet Man, Puppet Man, where are you? I want to go back, let me go back.” Lu Jin wanted to escape, but his legs betrayed him and went limp. 0

At that moment, the low and sinister voice of the Puppet Man echoed in his ears: “No, you must retrieve the target before you can return. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier, once the time is split, you will enter an alternate space. This space may contain unusual people or things, such as Fang Xia; you must not let her catch you. If you die here, you will never return to reality.” The Puppet Man chuckled darkly a couple of times before his voice faded away. 0

Lu Jin continued to call for the Puppet Man, but it was futile. Fang Xia was getting closer, and Lu Jin cursed inwardly as he half-dragged his limp legs forward. 0

Not far away, at the edge of the Black Forest, there was a small cluster of strange light. Lu Jin struggled toward it, and as he stepped out of the woods, he froze in shock. 0

Before him lay the Black Sea, where countless Fang Xia stood. They emerged from the water, their bodies dripping with black liquid. 0

All the Fang Xia saw Lu Jin and opened their exaggeratedly twisted mouths, emitting cries that resembled wails. 0

In an instant, countless writhing Fang Xia surged toward Lu Jin. 0

He did not move; fear gripped him like never before in his life. 0

Looking at the once-familiar beautiful faces now twisted into ghastly visages, Lu Jin felt a twinge of pity. He closed his eyes and sighed inwardly: perhaps this is my fate! 0

The strange light appeared again. Clinging to his last hope, Lu Jin opened his eyes to see a white glow rising from a spot on the beach nearby. Behind the glow stood a gleaming dagger plunged into the sand. 0

“Dagger!” Lu Jin's heart raced at that moment; feeling returned to his legs as he took large strides toward the dagger. 0

The countless Fang Xia screamed in madness. Suddenly, they all dropped to the sandy surface and swiftly crawled toward Lu Jin like water scorpions, moving at an astonishing speed that kicked up clouds of white sand. Seeing this scene unfold, Lu Jin had no choice but to quicken his pace even more. 0

The dagger lay right before him, but behind his neck, a chilling breath of death lingered, as if it were a parasite clinging to him, mere inches away. 0

Lu Jin made one final leap, his body soaring toward the dagger buried in the sand. At that very moment, one after another, Fang Xia lunged at Lu Jin. 0

Lu Jin felt a cold hand gripping tightly around his ankle, an icy sensation that brought with it numbness, pain, and despair. Countless emotions surged within him in an instant, and then he lost consciousness, as if he had fallen into an endless sea, adrift in a vast expanse with no way back. 0

When Lu Jin awoke from the nightmarish illusion, warm morning sunlight streamed into the room. He frowned, feeling an indescribable fatigue weighing down on him. 0

In the next moment, Lu Jin recalled everything he had experienced; it all felt like an unreal dream. 0

He chuckled to himself, thinking perhaps he had watched too many horror movies lately to have such a dull dream. 0

During the lunch break, Lu Jin returned to his office. He had just seen Cheng Qiang, who had been promoted to general manager, and felt a pang of discomfort in his heart. 0

Lu Jin closed the blinds and decided to light a cigarette to relax. 0

As he opened the drawer, a sharp, gleaming dagger lay quietly inside. 0

"Not a dream?!" The first thought that crossed Lu Jin's mind was this. 0

He took the dagger from the drawer; it was indeed the very same one he had used to kill Fang Xia. 0

Puppet Man—disassembling time to reclaim the dagger. Wasn’t all of this just a dream he had experienced? 0

It was something that truly happened! 0

Lu Jin was completely confused when a low, sinister voice echoed once more from beneath him. 0

"You did well. The issue with the dagger has been resolved." The Puppet Man crawled out from Lu Jin's drawer, now only the size of a matchbox. 0

He sat on Lu Jin's desk, locking eyes with him. 0

"You, you... I can't be dreaming, can I? How is this possible?" Lu Jin shook his head, but his gaze remained fixed on the Puppet Man. 0
