Another senior General sneered, "Resistance is resistance. If these British were obedient, we wouldn't have to put in so much effort." 0

Pluto took a deep breath, suppressed his dissatisfaction, and continued, "The orders from Governor Agulicola are very clear. We need to complete the mission in an orderly and efficient manner. Regardless of your opinions on the British, please remember, first and foremost, we are Roman soldiers and should act in accordance with Roman law and regulations." 0

The meeting was very tense, and Pluto felt uncomfortable with the view of Britain, but he also knew that it was his responsibility, and he had to guide them on the right path. 0

"So, early tomorrow, we will march along this route, with the goal being this Britain tribe." Pluto pointed to a marked point on the map, then stared closely into everyone's eyes. "Please be fully prepared. This will not be an easy battle, but we must win it." 0

Pluto's gaze lingered for a moment, ensuring that everyone understood his intentions, before withdrawing his gaze and silently saying to himself: "This expedition is not just a physical battle, but also a test of spirit and morality." He hoped to lead legion down the right path, even though it was filled with unknowns and contradictions. 0

The atmosphere in the conference room gradually cooled down after the last General spoke. Pluto's deputy, an elderly General, put away the maps and strategy drafts, and announced, "This meeting ends here. If there are any other questions, please discuss them privately with me or Legion commander Pluto." The Generals nodded and dispersed, each with varying degrees of concern and determination. 0

Pluto sighed deeply, left the meeting room, and walked back to his tent not far away. He pushed aside the tent's curtain and walked in. Inside, his personal belongings were neatly arranged, including the sword made of special metal and his Roman military armor. 0

Silently, he unfastened the buckles and belts on the armor, hanging them one by one on a wooden rack. Each movement brought back memories of his past military career - the bravery of his youth, the brutality of war, and the cities and civilizations he had sworn to protect but ultimately perished. 0

Pluto Looking at his reflection in the armor, his black short beard, deep eyes, and the subtle signs of fatigue, he suddenly felt like a cursed man, a ruthless killer. The once young and passionate soldier was gone, replaced by a man full of doubts about war, destiny, and himself. 0

Pluto Sitting alone in his tent, the candlelit tactical map and the sword made of special metal caught his eye. The orders for the expedition to Britannia filled him with confusion and doubt. 0

The territory of Rome has become so vast, from the Germanic forests to the Nile River in Egypt, and even to the Far East in Parthia. He asked himself: how much land and how many wars are still needed to satisfy the endless greed of this empire? The extent of the Roman Empire's territory is enough to astonish any historian, but it also brings countless problems: social unrest, internal conflicts, and the conquered peoples who can never be fully assimilated. 0

He remembered the old soldiers who fought alongside him, their eyes no longer filled with the same youthful enthusiasm, but instead with weariness and endless anger. They were once young and vibrant warriors, but years of warfare had made them indifferent, and some even cruel. Each expedition continued to wear down their spirits, altering their humanity. 0

Pluto couldn't help but sigh. War is like a double-edged sword, it can bring glory and prosperity, but at the same time it can bring destruction and hatred. He realized that the Legio IX he led was about to enter an unknown territory, which was not only geographical but also spiritual. A trial about faith, responsibility, and humanity was about to come. 0

His gaze fell again on the sword, it was his responsibility and burden. But at this critical moment, he began to question the value of it all. Does every inch of land really have to belong to Rome? Is every war really just? His thoughts grew deeper and more complex. 0

Pluto held a map of the Roman Empire in his hands. He looked at the territory that expanded to the Far East and deep into Africa, filled with doubt in his heart. 0

"Do we really need to invade more land?" he asked himself softly. 0

"War, what has it really changed?" Pluto puts down the map and closes his eyes. 0

He remembers his youthful passion and longing for war, thinking that with enough courage and wisdom, he could change the world. But now, as he becomes a Legion commander, responsible for the lives and deaths of thousands, he finally understands that war often changes not the world, but people. 0

The tent's door curtain was lifted, and a soldier walked in, interrupting his thoughts. 0

"Legion commander, it's late at night, you need to rest." 0

Pluto nodded and put away the map into his bag. 0

"You're right, go ahead. I'll go to bed shortly after." 0

The soldier stepped out of the tent, and Pluto once again fell into deep contemplation. Tomorrow, he will lead the legion into the inland of Britain, facing unknown challenges and crises. But before that, he must first resolve the conflicts and confusion within himself. 0
