Su Zihan grabbed at his neck, and in an instant, he sat up, clutching a handful of hair. The floor was covered with strands, and he felt a wave of panic as his scalp tingled and his limbs turned cold.
Even more terrifying was the sight of the hair moving, twisting and creeping toward him. Frightened, he kicked his legs and backed against the wall. He moved, but the hair moved faster; in the blink of an eye, it had wrapped around him completely, leaving no gaps at all.
Muffled sounds escaped his mouth as hair continued to pour in, filling it to the brim. The strands showed no signs of stopping; it felt as if his mouth might burst from the pressure. The hair carried a foul stench, relentlessly burrowing into his stomach.
Desperately, Su Zihan kicked his legs, trying to make some noise to alert his mother downstairs for help. But he was on the third floor, and with the floor covered in hair, there was no sound to be made. Soon enough, his legs were ensnared as well.
A cold, resentful voice filled the room, yet it felt distant. Su Zihan struggled to locate the source of the voice, but when he looked in that direction, terror widened his eyes.
Before him floated a figure clad in a familiar summer school uniform—though it was torn in many places and stained with dirt. He could vividly recall the moment when that uniform had been ripped apart.
Outside the villa, Lin Zhuo was about to get out of the car when he casually glanced up at the building. A light flickered in one of the third-floor windows before going out completely.
Yan Kongyue noticed it too, but her movements were quicker. She opened the door and dashed toward the villa entrance.
Lin Zhuo followed suit, rushing into the villa.
Ding dong! The doorbell rang urgently just as Yan Kongyue raised her foot to kick open the door. It swung open from inside.
"Who are you looking for?" asked the nanny who opened the door.
At this late hour, who could it be? Xu Huixin grumbled impatiently as she was pushed aside by Su Hongkai.
"Police! Is Su Zihan here?"
As Xu Huixin stepped outside, she collided with Lin Zhuo’s gaze, her panic evident despite her attempts to hide it.
"What do you want with him?" Su Hongkai stormed out with an angry expression.
"He is in danger!"
"He is safe!"
"Let us in!" Lin Zhuo had no time for idle chatter.
"Is there a search warrant?"
"Is there no one here? What about the arrest?" Su Hongkai persisted relentlessly.
"If you keep asking, your son will be doomed!"
He chuckled, "I would like to ask you, how is it that his own home has become dangerous?"
"Step aside!"
Su Hongkai stumbled back, nearly falling to the ground, while Yan Kongyue had already entered the house.
"What are you trying to do? This is illegal entry into a private residence."
As he spoke, Lin Zhuo and Gu Yan rushed in, heading straight for the third floor. At forty years old, Su Hongkai couldn't keep up with their speed and scrambled after them up the stairs.
No matter how he twisted the door lock, it wouldn't budge. Lin Zhuo slammed against the door a few times, but it felt as if something was blocking it from the inside.
Yan Kongyue felt around the lock and pulled out a strand of hair.
"Where's the key?" Su Hongkai finally sensed something was off.
"The key... Xu Huixin is in shock."
"Step back!" Yan Kongyue took a step back and kicked the door with a surge of spiritual energy.
Bang! The door and its frame were kicked down.
The lights in the room flickered on simultaneously, and Lin Zhuo and Yan Kongyue were the first to rush inside, followed closely by Su Hongkai and Gu Yan. As soon as Su Hongkai entered the room, he nearly vomited.
