In a certain area by Taihu Lake, at the Lixing Special Training Base, a burly man suddenly jolted awake from his stupor, sitting up abruptly on the wooden bed. 0

Where the hell am I? 0

He had barely spoken when he began to vomit, spewing all over the floor, filling the small room with a pungent stench. The man clearly had a bit of a cleanliness obsession; he quickly got off the bed, intending to step outside. However, as soon as his feet hit the ground, he caught sight of his filthy black cloth shoes, worn and tattered from toe to heel. A look of severe disdain crossed his face once more. 0

Despite his disgust, he forced himself to slip on the shoes and stepped out of the room. 0

Looking around, he assessed his surroundings. This was a lakeside dwelling with earthen walls and a thatched roof—no tiles in sight. Although the walls were made of compacted earth, they still looked somewhat sturdy. 0

Suddenly, he froze in realization and shouted loudly after a moment, "What the hell!" 0

This burly man was a time traveler. 0

Before his journey, he had been an otaku named Ji Laizhi, a fan of spy dramas and video games. Just before crossing over, he had been furiously criticizing an actor's performance in an anti-Japanese war drama titled "Avengers Alliance." 0

In the midst of his ranting, he had crossed over—no thunder, no lightning, no divine intervention—just closed his eyes and opened them again to find himself here, only to be violently sick from the sudden change. 0

He found himself in the body of an exceptionally rare specimen for this era—a tall and muscular man. Ji Laizhi was strong and agile, having fainted from overeating just before his transition. He now inhabited the body of Ze Anzhi, a soldier from Northeast China who had followed his unit into captivity when the Northeast Army retreated from their territory. After more than a year of wandering, he was drawn to Lixing's recruitment efforts and came to this training base by Taihu Lake. 0

The reason was simple: Lixing provided food and lodging. 0

Ze Anzhi had always been able to eat—a lot. It wasn't just that he could eat; he could eat an extraordinary amount. They said children could eat their parents out of house and home; Ze Anzhi had literally consumed his wealthy family's resources until they were nearly bankrupt. If it hadn't been for a conscription officer from the Northeast Army recognizing his robust physique, Ze Anzhi would have been kicked out by his father long ago. 0

However, shortly after enlisting, disaster struck—the Northeast Army retreated without resistance from their homeland. Just as Ze Anzhi began to enjoy enough food and drink, it all vanished again. 0

The recruitment office for Lixing was scouring Jiangsu and Zhejiang for young men to entice into service. If not for orders from above prohibiting forced conscription, their mission would have been completed long ago. Naturally, someone like Ze Anzhi was a prime target for recruitment. 0

But as soon as Ze Anzhi entered Lixing for training, all the instructors began to experience headaches. 0

This guy seemed capable of eating well and running fast; aside from that, he appeared utterly useless. He could recognize a few characters but hadn’t mastered any of the skills required for espionage! During electric key training for communication devices, he managed to break the transmission machine’s key; during tracking exercises, he would stand just meters behind you without even attempting to hide—he claimed it was so he wouldn’t lose you; in disguise and stealth training, he couldn’t disguise himself at all—imagine a bear trying to walk like a mouse! 0

As for intelligence gathering and analysis courses? Sorry! The instructors had already banned Ze Anzhi from approaching those classrooms. 0

By espionage standards, Ze Anzhi was undoubtedly among the most hopeless recruits imaginable. Any intelligence agency that accepted someone like him as an operative would likely find itself doomed before long! 0

However, this guy's courses in Wu Lan, close combat, and military topography are all full! Not just full; the Wu Lan instructor has been singing his praises. With a miraculous ability to shoot a perfect score on the target range, Ze Anzhi can hit the bullseye every time with a pistol and achieve a perfect score within the maximum range with a rifle. 0

It's important to note that the firearms used for pistol and rifle training are essentially old and nearly worn out, with rifling that is barely visible. After firing a few hundred rounds, they are typically deemed unfit for use. Yet, despite these conditions—where these weapons are practically useless in the hands of any real soldier—Ze Anzhi managed to achieve results that seemed impossible. 0

As for the military topography instructor, his comments were quite fair. This guy has an uncanny ability to navigate using just his nose; it may sound ridiculous, but his skills in moving across various terrains, reading maps, drawing maps, and judging heights are nothing short of genius! 0
