On the fourth day after the rebellion planning meeting, at midnight, nearly a hundred young officers led approximately a thousand soldiers from several military camps around Tokyo to carry out assassination missions across the city.
These foolish officers showed no signs of concealment, boldly marching down the streets with fully armed soldiers. Their plan was to assassinate their targets and then surround the Prime Minister's residence and the Imperial Army Ministry. They intended to broadcast their declaration of rebellion nationwide via radio, claiming they would eliminate corrupt officials surrounding the Emperor and establish a reformist regime centered on him, promoting imperial militarism.
However, all so-called assassination teams near the imperial high-ranking residences encountered a surprise attack from the Royal Guard, armed with submachine guns and pre-positioned machine guns.
