After receiving a response from the Master, the once faltering military formation gradually stabilized. Seeing this, John, who had been on edge, finally let out a sigh of relief, allowing him to focus on dealing with the troublesome Goblins. 0

These small-statured and weak Goblins posed little threat to the battle-hardened John. However, each time he swung his heavy spear, it drained a portion of his precious stamina. After all, even the strongest warrior could not maintain boundless energy after prolonged combat. 0

In order to conserve as much energy as possible for the potential crises ahead, John had no choice but to temporarily abandon his heavy spear. He swiftly drew two sharp short swords strapped to his legs and launched a more aggressive counterattack. He moved nimbly among the Goblins, his twin blades flashing like a storm, reaping the lives of his enemies. 0

Meanwhile, Kuiradi, who fought alongside John, faced immense pressure. The two stood back to back, breathing heavily as they took a moment to regroup. John turned to Kuiradi and asked with concern, "How are you holding up, Kuiradi? Can you keep going?" 0

Kuiradi gritted his teeth, skillfully maneuvering his heavy shield to block a Goblin's heavy hammer strike while simultaneously swinging his curved dagger in a silver arc. The sound of slicing air accompanied his attack. 0

The silver flash cut through a Goblin's body, spraying blood everywhere. Thanks to the infusion of Universal Qi Training Method into his strike, the blow was devastating enough to cleave the unfortunate Goblin in half. 0

With a serious expression, Kuiradi said to John, "My lord, I feel something is off! There must be a more powerful and advanced Goblin lurking behind this group. It's precisely because they fear that creature that these Goblins dare not flee the battlefield." 0

Upon hearing Kuiradi's analysis, John nodded in agreement, acknowledging his insight. Logically speaking, with the larger Goblins already eliminated and half of the ordinary ones dead, they should have scattered in panic by now. Yet here they were—these remaining Goblins showed no signs of retreat; instead, they fought desperately. There had to be a higher-level Goblin behind them. 0

"Conserve your stamina and be cautious of any changes," John advised. 0

"Understood, my lord!" Kuiradi replied. 0

In the shadows of the forest, the Goblin Chief observed John's increasingly heavy strikes and felt that the time was right. He stepped out with his Goblin guards. 0

Engaged in battle, John was unaware of their approach; his focus remained on the relentless assault from the surrounding Goblins. His short swords were now riddled with nicks from continuous slashing. 0

With great effort, he pulled a short sword from a fallen Goblin's rib cage and kicked aside its corpse. 0

"Ding! Killed a Goblin. Soldier Profession experience increased." 0

Just as he prepared to thrust forward again, he felt a chill behind him. Reacting instinctively, he dropped to one knee as a massive rock flew overhead, nearly knocking off his helmet. He stumbled back up and adjusted his helmet. 0

As he looked toward where the rock had come from, he finally saw their leader—a two-meter-tall grayish Goblin. To call it merely a Goblin seemed inadequate; its body was muscular and elongated. Aside from its large ears resembling those of a Goblin, its overall appearance was more akin to that of a human with gray skin. 0

Seeing their Chieftain arrive seemed to embolden the surrounding Goblins as they began to retreat. 0

The approaching Goblin Chief swung its dual axes wildly; the wind howled around them as the heavy thuds of its axe strikes sent shivers down one's spine. 0

John licked his parched lips and quickly brandished both short swords toward the approaching foe while picking up a spear from the ground with his toes. He led the charge forward. 0

The Goblin Chief swiftly blocked two short swords with his double-handed axe, then charged forward with determination. His feet moved quickly as he closed the distance. The tips of the spear and the blade of the axe clashed repeatedly, and in just a few breaths, the two exchanged blows more than a dozen times. 0
