With this development, John's training abilities became even more legendary. While others saw their troops dwindle, John's forces only grew, giving off a vibe reminiscent of a different world’s Han Xin.
Of course, John would never admit to this; doing so would imply that others were incompetent. Instead, he attributed all the credit to his subordinates, claiming it was all thanks to Redman, Heide, and Baron Leon's excellent leadership.
From the moment he crossed over, he understood one thing: everything he accomplished was due to his leaders. He was merely grateful that they provided him with a platform.
Knowing how considerate John was, others began to praise his military skills whenever they encountered other nobles, boosting John's reputation significantly. Now, it could be said that most of the nobility in Blink County knew the name of the Divine Knight and recognized his remarkable training capabilities.
After several days of intense travel, the team finally reached the front lines at a large border city. Unfortunately for John, he was not the first noble to arrive. Instead, a few unscrupulous individuals discarded their soldiers and rushed over with just a handful of attendants. Even though they were heavily penalized by Marquis Duvas for bringing so few troops, they shamelessly claimed their share of the Bloodline Knight Potions.
As a result, John and his companions only received four vials of the Bloodline Knight Potion. After Redman retrieved the potions, he completely ignored the eager knights below and began distributing the precious spoils.
With an expressionless face, he stated: "I will take one vial; Baron Hyde gets one; Baron Leon also receives one. As for this last vial... it belongs to John. I trust no one will have any objections to this distribution?"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone nodded in agreement. Baron Hyde chimed in enthusiastically.
"Indeed! If it weren't for John's leadership pushing us forward at such speed, we wouldn't have arrived here so quickly. Even if we had managed to get here eventually, we would likely have faced severe penalties for leaving soldiers behind!"
After Baron Hyde spoke, everyone turned to look at Baron Leon. They noticed something unusual about his expression; his brow was furrowed tightly and his face looked troubled. Instantly, all eyes were on him.
Seeing this concern from his close friend Baron Hyde, Baron Leon asked with genuine worry: "Leon, what's wrong? You seem troubled."
Upon hearing his friend's inquiry, Baron Leon paused for a moment before raising his head as if awakening from a dream. Facing the curious gazes around him, he quickly explained.
"Oh, it's nothing serious. I just suddenly thought that if we hadn't brought those serfs with us when we set out initially, we might have been able to divide up more potions. Those greedy and shameless scoundrels are truly infuriating!"
After saying this, everyone began cursing those shameless individuals in their hearts. However, considering the effects of the Bloodline Knight Potion—despite being heavily fined—it was still worth it. Where else could they find a potion that could directly break through Transcendent without any side effects?
"Alright, enough complaining! Let's grab our potions and head back," Redman said as he picked up a vial of Bloodline Knight Potion and turned to leave.
Hearing their leader speak up, John quickly grabbed a vial as well.
"I'll head back first," he said.
At that moment, John dared not provoke these high-ranking nobles' displeasure. Despite appearing to hold a high position within the alliance, it was all superficial; his troop was large and elite but lacked any Transcendent members. In a real fight, they would be at a severe disadvantage.
If it weren't for my older brother Redman speaking up, no matter how hard I worked, I would just be like a beast of burden for others. The credit would go to someone else, the hollow fame would belong to me, the money would be someone else's, and the troubles would be mine.
So, if you don't have your own strength, you need to have a good older brother. Otherwise, when trouble strikes, no one will have your back. No matter how capable you are, you'll just be a beast of burden, and no one will recognize your excellence.
