John was not afraid of the tomb; after ten years as a Lord, he had seen his share of the undead. In the Serf community, there were always some self-important individuals who shouted about how noble blood meant nothing in the face of death. Although John did not understand where they found their courage, he knew that a swift strike would bring no pain or harm.
(Unknown to that traveler from the Blue Star dimension: I just crossed over and shouted, only to meet my end. Is there no justice? No law? Am I not the protagonist?)
Facing the corpses in the tomb, John remained calm both mentally and physically. With his left hand, he formed a secret seal and activated the Aura Seal.
Aura Seal: This technique was developed by John over the years through his Universal Qi Training Method. By forming special seals, he emitted a holy light that would strike outwards. If any enemies were present, they would be revealed, and the seal would deal significant damage to dark and undead creatures.
A fluorescent halo emanated from beneath John's feet, blowing away the dust with its force. The mummified corpses in the tomb emitted a series of cracking sounds in the light before collapsing into dust.
John retracted his seal and muttered to himself, "I knew these corpses wouldn’t just lie quietly in such a place."
It was entirely normal for corpses to rise in ancient tombs like this one. The reason tombs on this continent were rarely plundered was precisely due to this fact. Although it seemed easy for John to deal with these undead, it was because his Holy Light Fighting Training Method was particularly effective against them. A warrior of equal strength might not fare as well against these undead creatures in a one-on-one confrontation.
Without saying a word, John’s personal guards moved forward to search the bodies for burial treasures while he continued deeper into the tomb with the others.
From the structure of this tomb, it appeared to be from an earlier era when humanity was in decline. During that time, elves, beastmen, dwarves, and trolls dominated the continent. John had read in history books that during that period, all four races had numerous Sanctuary Champions. It was only after the Troll Empire collapsed and civil wars broke out among the three great empires that humanity seized the opportunity to occupy the central part of the continent.
Though puzzled by why the four races fell so rapidly, one thing was certain: the style of ancient tombs from that period closely resembled what he saw now.
Especially striking were several lifelike statues of eagles, snakes, and leopards before him; they matched perfectly with those antiques John cherished. There was no doubt they belonged to the same style and design.
Gently brushing aside a gem placed before one of the statues, he selected one and held it up to examine closely. He couldn't help but exclaim, "Hmm, indeed remarkable! Just one glance confirms this is undoubtedly a genuine piece. The aesthetic sense and preferences of these ancient people are truly unique."
Unfortunately, while he loved these visible treasures outside, deep down he yearned for those precious items hidden deep within the tomb.
With that thought, he carefully placed both the statue and the exquisite gem into a bag held by one of his guards and stepped forward without hesitation into the deeper parts of the tomb.
As they ventured further in, the characteristics of this man-made tomb became increasingly pronounced. While the outer areas had relied on existing caves with minor renovations, their current location was entirely crafted by human hands with meticulous care.
Along the way, John continuously formed seals and paused to admire some old tomb mechanisms. Although most had deteriorated over time and lost their original functions, John could still appreciate the ancient wisdom behind them.
