In the alley, seven or eight headless corpses and scattered heads rolled chaotically on the ground. Ye Wumeng crouched in front of a boy, wiping the cutlass in his hand with the clothing of one of the bodies. 0

The boy stared blankly, his mouth agape. If he weren’t injured, he would surely have run away at the sight. Ye Wumeng had killed them all in just ten seconds! It was truly terrifying. 0

After cleaning the cutlass, he tucked it into his waist and looked at the boy. Seeing Ye Wumeng’s gaze upon him, the boy trembled all over, feeling as if he would faint at any moment. 0

“Take this. I don’t want the person I saved to drop dead in front of me,” Ye Wumeng said, pulling out a vial of his own concocted healing potion and handing it to the boy. The effect was certainly better than that of Anlius’s potions, as it was made from Corpse Liquid, which ensured its potency. 0

The boy shakily accepted it and then drank it all in one go. 0

“Thank you, You Cai Store Manager!” 0

“What’s your name?” 0

“Uh… Lu Hao,” he replied. “I work at You Cai Department Store.” 0

Upon hearing this, Lu Hao was somewhat stunned. After all, he had been a frequent visitor to You Cai Department Store for many days now. The work inside wasn’t particularly complicated; it could only be described as having nothing much to do. Was he supposed to be a mascot or something? 0

“You don’t think I saved you for free, do you? I saved your life; you owe me some work in return, understand?” Ye Wumeng looked at him with an extremely calm tone. 0

“I understand! I understand!” Lu Hao exclaimed, filled with excitement. He didn’t even notice that his body had mostly recovered and jumped up from the ground. 0

“Good. Wait for me at the store entrance. Also, take this.” He handed Lu Hao the cutlass and instructed him. 0

“Okay!” 0

Ye Wumeng stood still until Lu Hao completely left. After collecting the corpses on the ground, he squeezed his hand tightly, causing a window to pop up from his Mechanical Glove. 0

“Connect me to Xu Duan.” 0

[Connecting, please wait...] 0

Lance Star Point. 0

Hu Xu sat atop a massive Undead body, a cigarette pinched between his fingers. The once formidable and handsome armor he wore was now reduced to just the chest piece, the rest having either fallen away due to battle damage or been abandoned for tactical reasons. 0

At that moment, he was connected to the Border Military Camp via his Mechanical Glove. 0

"Ha, I've taken care of it," Hu Xu exhaled a puff of white smoke, gazing at the figure projected by the Mechanical Glove. The figure was familiar; it was the officer in standard uniform from the Gray Tent. 0

He fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "Congratulations." 0

Taking a deep drag from his cigarette, Hu Xu flicked the butt onto the Undead's body and ground it out with his toe. "I need the camp now. If anything comes up in the next month, just call someone else." 0

However, Hu Xu didn't allow the man to finish and abruptly cut off the connection. 0

"You little brat, come with me to the camp," he said as he jumped down from the Undead's body, his subordinate following closely behind him. 0

"What’s going on? We need to get that old man to take a look." 0

"Is this the place?" Ye Wumeng pondered as he looked at the towering building before him. 0

An hour ago, he had contacted Xu Duan through his Blue Card, hoping to collaborate with the Bonfire Group. As for whether they would consider him, well, it was worth a shot; he had nothing to lose. 0

"Sir, here are your Blue Vouchers," said Air Pump Uncle, who had brought him here, smiling at Ye Wumeng. 0

"Alright." 0

He pointed out the amount on the Blue Vouchers, treating it as a way to support his business. 0

Having received extra money, the man felt pleased and casually asked Ye Wumeng, "Mr. Ye, who did you vote for in the Camp Leader Election? I heard the current Camp Leader is trying to get re-elected and is even campaigning in the Civilian Area! If you have time, you should check it out; they’re giving away small bags of brown rice there." 0

"Camp Leader Election? What’s that?" Ye Wumeng asked, a bit confused. 0

"Oh, you don’t know? Lanstad holds a Camp Leader Election every three years to determine the camp leader. They say it’s about planning the camp's development direction during that time, though I don’t really understand it. But I heard there are three candidates, one of whom is the former Camp Leader." 0

After listening to the man, Ye Wumeng nodded in understanding. "So it changes every three years? Isn’t that a bit too frequent?" 0

"Alright then, Mr. Ye, I won’t keep you any longer. See you next time!" The man waved his hand and hurried off in his vehicle to pick up more passengers. 0

Ye Wumeng glanced around at the building before him. A huge bonfire emblem stood out prominently in the center, towering at least ten stories high. The entrance was relatively simple, with just the words "Bonfire Corps Headquarters" displayed. 0

There weren’t any strange titles added, like something about a "Lanstad Internal and External Defense Issues Handling Center." 0

As he walked into the lobby, he noticed it was sparsely populated. Most people were dressed in uniforms, either standing still handling tasks or hurrying by with purpose. Occasionally, they exchanged a few brief words related to their work. 0

Outsiders like Ye Wumeng were quite rare, so his arrival drew attention. However, everyone merely glanced at him before returning to their own business. 0

"Where could Xu Duan be? I guess I’ll have to check at the front desk," he thought as he scanned the area and spotted a sign reading "Consultation Station" in the center of the lobby. He quickly made his way over. 0

In front of the consultation station stood a young woman who was rapidly jotting down notes. She seemed so engrossed in her work that she didn’t notice Ye Wumeng’s arrival. 0

"Hello, I’m looking for Xu Duan from Bonfire Group. Could you tell me where I can find him?" Ye Wumeng politely inquired. 0

The young woman was startled but quickly regained her composure. In a soft voice, she replied, "Are you looking for Xu Changguan? Are you perhaps Ye Wumeng?" 0

Ye Wumeng nodded. 0

"Yes, that’s right. Xu Changguan mentioned he wanted to ask you a question before you met him." 0

Her voice was gentle but carried an air of awkwardness for some reason. 0

"What question?" 0

"Southern Industries?" 0

"Reliable." 0

Hearing the question, Ye Wumeng instinctively replied, as it was a slogan printed on the packaging of Cigarettes, and it was the only answer he could think of. 0

However, was there really anything difficult to say about it? 0

With a sigh, she exhaled and then sweetly smiled, saying, "Walk to the end over there; there’s a Kinetic Elevator. Turn left at the stairs, and the room marked Vice Commander is right there." 0

"Thank you," she said, raising her right hand over her heart and nodding at him. 0

Nodding in response, Ye Wumeng followed the direction she pointed and soon saw something resembling an elevator. 0

However, this was not an ordinary elevator; the Kinetic Elevator was powered by Corpse Energy. It operated by altering the concentration of Corpse Energy underground to move up and down. 0

In simple terms, it was similar to how a hairdryer could keep a ping pong ball afloat. 0

Moreover, due to the stability of Corpse Energy, there were almost no issues with damage. The only drawback was that it couldn't hover above one floor for too long, as that would waste Corpse Energy. 0

Well, that wasn’t something he needed to worry about. 0

Stepping inside, he pressed the button for his floor and felt a tremendous force begin to propel the Kinetic Elevator beneath his feet. 0

The speed was astonishing; before he could react, the doors opened. 0

So fast? 0

He stepped out of the Kinetic Elevator and turned back to see it descend to the first floor again, waiting for its next use. 0

Impressive, he thought to himself. 0

He checked his clothes; they were still relatively neat. After all, he was here to ask for help and needed to make a good impression. 0

In truth, calling it a collaboration was merely paving the way for himself to seek medicine from corpses. 0

He needed results and had to deliver. 0

Once everything was in order, he pushed open the door marked Bonfire Group Vice Commander. 0
