Ye Wumeng looked at the ballot in his hand, puzzled by the three photos displayed on it. "Have you seen the candidates for Camp Leader?" he asked. "The one in the middle is the current Bonfire Corps Commander, my direct superior, Ideal. Yes, you heard that right; that's his name."
Xu Duan swallowed nervously, while Ye Wumeng shrugged it off and marked a check next to the second photo. He didn't recognize any of these three people, so it didn't really matter whom he supported; one vote wouldn't make a difference. However, since his superior had requested it, he decided to comply.
"There's a dedicated exchange point on the first floor of the camp," he continued. "I've activated temporary exchange privileges for this card. You can trade it for some items and points, but no credit will be given."
Ye Wumeng nodded in understanding.
"Sir, we don't accept cigarettes here," the staff member said politely as Ye Wumeng pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.
On the first floor of the Bonfire Corps Headquarters, Ye Wumeng, who usually had things go his way, found himself at a loss here. He looked at the mountain of cigarettes stacked in the warehouse and felt a headache coming on.
"This here is Nutritional Fresh Meat Canned Food. It has a long shelf life and is ready to eat once opened," the staff explained. "According to the Bonfire Group's exchange guide, we can estimate that each can is worth a certain number of points. If you want to exchange them, you can leave an address for our receiver to come pick them up. Once confirmed, the points will be credited to your card. You can also purchase items using your identity card; delivery will be arranged as well."
The staff patiently answered Ye Wumeng's questions while he stroked his chin, pondering another issue.
"What can I exchange for points?" he asked. "Can I see the price list for Undead corpses?"
"Of course," came the reply.
The staff member activated a Mechanical Glove that emitted a blue light, projecting a Blue Light Screen in front of Ye Wumeng.
【Common Undead Remaining: X units.】
【Suggested Exchange Value: Y points per unit.】
【Undead Type Remaining: X units.】
【Suggested Exchange Price: Z ten thousand points per unit.】
With over a hundred boxes of Nutritional Fresh Meat Canned Food in hand, could he really not even trade for a single First Class Species corpse? Although he had plenty of canned food, they only accepted them in small quantities.
The prices for other items were likely similar. However, if he presented too many resources, it would definitely raise suspicions about their legitimacy. Was there something small and compact that he could use instead?
"Wait, am I not an Alchemist?"
Ye Wumeng took out several potions of different colors from his pouch and placed them in front of the Staff, asking, "How many points can these potions be exchanged for?"
Seeing this, the Staff raised the Mechanical Glove again, and a small blue chip popped out. It then displayed all the information regarding these potions.
"Well, the ones on the left are all relatively low-quality ordinary potions without any transformation. According to the exchange guide, each one is worth about a few points. As for those on the right, they can fetch up to several points since they are nearly at the level of first-transformation potions in terms of efficiency."
Hearing this quote, Ye Wumeng felt a surge of joy. The potions on the left were actually taken from his old friend Lai Da Fu. However, since they were crafted by that old guy Anlius, their efficiency wasn't too high, so it was best to dispose of them all at once.
He had about ten of those lower-quality potions in hand and wondered how Lai Da Fu managed to carry so many.
The potions on the right were some high-efficiency ones he had crafted himself during his leisure time using Corpse Energy Base Liquid, but they had clear side effects. He didn't plan to keep these for himself; selling them would be just fine.
"Then please have the delivery personnel go to this location in the Refugee Zone for collection," Ye Wumeng said as he inserted the Blue Card. A location popped up on the Mechanical Glove, and with a gentle swipe, it was transmitted to the Staff's Mechanical Glove.
"No problem, the delivery personnel will notify you half an hour in advance."
With that, he figured buying all the corpses should be about right. If it wasn't enough, he could always make more since it was nearly cost-free.
Ye Wumeng nodded, thanked the Staff, and left the Bonfire Corps Headquarters. Next, he planned to check out Old Deng's Weapon Shop.
This wasn't just a whim. Although his current Combat Power had surpassed thirty, it was merely physical Combat Power. At this stage, firearms and explosives equipped with Corpse Energy were truly essential.
He didn't know about Xu Duan, but if he took a hit from a Mark III, he would definitely be done for.
However, with his current strength, could he dodge bullets with reflexes?
Forget it; that dangerous thought was best left aside.
He flagged down a gas pump vehicle on the street and headed towards Old Deng's Weapon Shop.
"Quick! Keep up with me; we need to move faster!"
Near Lance Star Point, Hu Xu hurriedly led his little brothers through the ruins as they raced towards Lanstad.
"Hu Laoda, why are we in such a rush to return?" one of Hu Xu's younger brothers panted behind him. He felt as if his legs were filled with lead and was starting to tire out. Finally unable to hold back his confusion any longer, he voiced his question while looking at Hu Xu's determined back.
Sigh, my body has been feeling off lately. I need to see that old man Anlius; I can't let this affect the mission. Anlius has a steady aura, but my left chest often aches faintly. I felt it during the battle with the Small Undead Tide; my whole body feels weak and unresponsive. Right now, I can only exert about seventy percent of my strength. What is wrong with me?
I shook my head and pushed the panting subordinate behind me, then continued to fly forward quickly. Hu Laoda, I can still—
"Stop giving me nonsense! I'm an Evolver; my physical abilities are countless times better than yours. Don't worry about me."
However, despite saying that, after running and fighting continuously, along with my lingering injuries and inexplicable weakness, I was nearing my limit. At this pace, I should be able to cross this area and return to Lanstad by nightfall.
Just then, a larger First Class Species suddenly lunged out from the shadows, blocking my path. Hu Xu narrowed his eyes but didn't slow down; instead, he accelerated even more. With a powerful leap, he landed on the Undead's back and stomped down heavily.
The immense force transmitted through the Undead's body caused its three supporting legs to twist and collapse, sending it crashing to the ground in a writhing heap. Now is not the time to mess around with these creatures.
I could feel my body weakening further. My chest heaved as I gasped for air, slightly breathless.
"Hu Laoda—"
"I'm fine."
"No! Up ahead! There's one!"
The subordinate on my back pointed toward the direction we were supposed to go, his voice trembling with fear.
Hu Xu looked in that direction and saw a bizarre First Class Species blocking his path. Behind him, the Undead with a severed leg was slowly getting back on its feet, facing Hu Xu.
This is truly troublesome.
