Everyone, you should be clear about the situation now. Are there any questions? 0
At the Bonfire Corps Headquarters, in the Legion Commander Office, Ideal crossed his arms and looked at the group of people standing in front of him with a serious tone. 0
Ye Wumeng and another middle-aged man stood at the front of the group, listening to Ideal's orders. They were both captains of various squads, and the man beside Ye Wumeng was named Bo Shuo, also a captain of an Elite Squad. 0
"Vice Commander, I don’t understand why we suddenly need to build an outer wall. Isn’t our current situation fine?" Bo Shuo asked, confusion written all over his face as he crossed his arms. 0
"You don’t need to know these details. All you need to know is that your mission this time is to guard the Lance Star Point and prevent a sudden attack from the Corpse Tide. Ye Youcai will be the overall commander for all squads, and you will serve as his deputy," Ideal explained in a calm tone. 0
Upon hearing this, Bo Shuo slammed his right hand on the table, clearly dissatisfied. "Vice Commander, I refuse! Why should this rookie be in charge? In terms of experience, I am far more seasoned; in terms of strength, I believe I am much stronger!" 0
Ideal chose not to respond to him. If it weren't for another team being unavailable, would they even consider using someone like you? Besides, this person has withstood the Corpse Poison Heaven and later broke through to become a formidable warrior; entering the Zhencheng Twelve Guards would be a piece of cake for him. You think you can compare? 0
"Bo Shuo, this is an order! Do you really want to defy it?" Ideal's gaze turned slightly cold as he uncrossed his arms and lightly tapped his fingers on the table, his tone carrying a hint of warning. 0
"Hmph." Bo Shuo snorted coldly and stepped back into the ranks, his eyes scanning Ye Wumeng with a mix of intent and indifference. 0
"Don’t create enemies for me like this!" Ye Wumeng thought helplessly but said nothing more, reminding himself that things would sort themselves out in due time. 0
"Alright, you all can leave now; Ye Wumeng, stay behind." Ideal waved his hand at them, signaling that they could go. 0
As Bo Shuo walked away, he let out a soft huff through his nose to express his dissatisfaction. 0
Once everyone else had left, Ideal pointed to the seat in front of him, indicating for Ye Wumeng to sit down. 0
"The Monster's Corpse you applied for is ready; you can head to the storage room to collect it shortly." 0
"The corpse?" Ye Wumeng's mind once again conjured up the image of that grotesque creature covered in tentacles. 0

"That was quick, but you must have more to say," Ye Wumeng retorted. 0

"Indeed, I had a dream these past few days." 0

"What kind of dream?" Ye Wumeng asked, puzzled. 0

Did he want to share his dream with him? Ideal shook his head and slowly pointed to his own head. 0

"To say it was a dream might not be accurate; you could consider it as fragments of foresight about the future." 0

"Foresight about the future! That's quite impressive!" Ye Wumeng thought to himself, but when he heard what came next, his heart skipped a beat. 0

In this dream, there was a voice that kept repeating a number. 0

"It seems to be related to you," Ideal said, shaking his head. A rare look of confusion crossed his face. 0

It appeared he didn’t know what this number represented. 0

"Well, I see. I understand now," Ye Wumeng nodded slightly before turning to leave the Legion Commander Office. What could it possibly mean? 0

This land felt like a forgotten corner of the world, filled with desolation and emptiness. 0

As far as the eye could see, the earth laid bare its cracked and barren chest, with deep ravines crisscrossing its surface like cruel scars etched by time. Sparse dry stalks were scattered across the ground, trembling in the biting cold wind, their color as dull as lifeless souls, fragile enough that they seemed ready to crumble at a mere touch. 0

In the distance stood a few skeletal trees, isolated and forlorn. Their twisted branches reached for the sky as if desperately pleading for something. The once lush leaves had long vanished, leaving only dry twigs that creaked mournfully in the wind, echoing the land's painful lament. Occasionally, one could spot a few dilapidated bird nests clinging precariously to the branches, eroded by wind and rain, whispering tales of past vibrancy and present desolation. 0

The sky was perpetually gray, heavy clouds pressing down low, creating an oppressive atmosphere. The sun seemed reluctant to grace this land; even the rare beams that filtered through the cloud cover were weak and pale, unable to dispel the gloom that hung over the terrain. 0

There were no babbling streams or lively creatures darting about—only lifelessness and an abundance of Undead scattered throughout. When the fierce winds howled past, they stirred up dust from the ground into small whirlwinds. It was then that Ye Wumeng finally arrived at his destination: a cluster of small houses built from crumbling ruins. 0

The house was praised by everyone, and calling it a small square seemed more fitting. Among them, a huge tent stood out prominently. Ye Wumeng approached the yellowish tent and looked up. Above the tent, the words "Command Center" were affixed with some unknown material. 0

Ye Wumeng pushed aside the fabric covering the entrance and stepped inside. What greeted his eyes was a large emblem of the Bonfire Group, with a few tables and a simple sand table below it. In front of that rudimentary sand table stood a middle-aged man dressed in the Bonfire Group uniform, with slightly long white hair at his temples. 0

"Are you General Wei?" Ye Wumeng asked with a smile as he approached the middle-aged man. 0

"You are the group sent by Ideal?" General Wei inquired calmly, his gaze still fixed on the sand table. 0

"Yes, Vice Commander asked us to come here to guard this pass, hoping we won't be disturbed by the Corpse Tide during the construction of the outer city walls," Ye Wumeng replied. 0

General Wei shifted his gaze from the sand table to Ye Wumeng and then glanced at the group behind him. "However, conditions here are harsh, so I hope you are prepared." 0

Hearing this, Ye Wumeng's expression remained neutral; after all, what did poor conditions have to do with him? The mountain of supplies was no joke! 0

"It's part of our duty," Ye Wumeng said as he saluted General Wei in the Bonfire Group manner. At this moment, he wasn't sure what else to say; a salute was always appropriate. 0

A glimmer of appreciation flashed in General Wei's eyes as he nodded in response. He moved his hand wearing a Mechanical Glove and sent over their assigned stationing location for Ye Wumeng and his team. 0

"I've sent you the location. You can plan for yourselves or stay in one of the ready-made small houses; it's up to you. The mess hall is on the left side of the command center. If you're hungry, just go in and eat something. Starting tomorrow, meals will be served at fixed times every day. Although it’s not as good as what you’d find in the city, we can't let you go hungry, so remember to come eat. If you have any questions, contact my adjutant; he will arrange everything for you." 0

After giving his instructions, General Wei once again turned his attention to the simple sand table, deep in thought. 0

In that case, let's go check out the mess hall first, Ye Wumeng thought to himself. 0
