"Lin Xiao, are you coming out, or should I go in?" Li Hao placed the cleaning sign at the entrance of the women's restroom after returning from his phone call.
After a moment of calm, Lin Xiao gathered his thoughts. If trouble came, he would face it head-on; if he truly had something with that woman, he would just get a divorce.
Seeing Lin Xiao emerge from the restroom with a composed expression eased Li Hao's worries. At least he hadn’t cried.
"Why didn’t you call me when you got here? Where’s Tian Tian?" he asked, reaching for Lin Xiao's hand.
Lin Xiao sidestepped, feeling embarrassed. "I’m sorry for intruding."
Li Hao wrapped his arms around Lin Xiao from behind. "Don’t be upset; let me explain."
"Explain? You weren’t like this before. Why are you being so cold now?"
Li Hao realized she must have overheard Zhao Fei's words and felt a bit speechless. Those who studied acting really knew how to apply what they learned.
He took Lin Xiao's hand and led her back to the lounge, recounting everything that had happened with Zhao Fei. "I just returned to the lounge to revise the ending when she followed me. Don’t be upset; I’ll be more careful next time."
"Honestly, I’m still not happy about it. It bothers me that you never mentioned any of this before."
"They're irrelevant people; why would I bring her up? I never expected her to be so obsessive," Lin Xiao replied.
Li Hao felt helpless as well. Previously, whenever he was in a tight spot, whether someone clung to him or tried to shut him out, it had never been this persistent.
"Forget about her. If it bothers you, I can write her out of the story entirely and make sure she doesn’t appear again."
Last time, Li Hao had already cut some of her scenes after being annoyed by her antics.
"Never mind; the girl has it tough too." Lin Xiao didn’t want to take revenge on her. "You won’t be in this circle much longer anyway; just keep your distance."
"Then don’t be upset. I’ll greet Chen Chen and we can head back to Tian Tian soon."
After Li Hao greeted Chen Chen and the others, he drove Lin Xiao back home.
Tian Tian hadn’t seen Li Hao in two months. The bond between father and daughter was strong; upon seeing him, she jumped into his arms, filling Li Hao with overwhelming paternal love—his heart nearly melted.
"Tian Tian, say ‘Daddy’," Li Hao said as he held her tightly, reluctant to let go.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Tian Tian called out for a while before losing interest and wandering off to play.
Li Hao followed her to help stack blocks but accidentally knocked over a tall tower, causing Lin Tian to burst into tears.
When Lin Xiao came over, Li Hao innocently waved his hand. Lin Xiao picked up Tian Tian, wiped her tears, and asked, "How about we build a big castle together with Mommy and Daddy?"
Children's emotions change quickly, and soon the family was quietly building blocks together in the afternoon.
In the evening, after Li Hao had coaxed the child to sleep, he tiptoed out and lay down on the bed. Lin Xiao was reading "Rulin Waishi."
"You must be tired after a long day," he said. Li Hao took the book from Lin Xiao's hands and pulled her into his embrace, noticing that her mood was not high.
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but Lin Xiao felt no such stirrings within her.
"Are you still bothered by that incident? I have no connection with that woman; we haven't even shaken hands," Li Hao assured her earnestly.
"It's not that I'm bothered by Zhao Fei; I just feel a bit uneasy. With us spending so little time together, I'm really afraid that one day a better woman will catch your attention," Lin Xiao said, looking at him with her big, watery eyes.
At this moment, Lin Xiao had shed the shyness of her youth. Her brows carried a hint of determination, and an elegant scholarly aura emanated from her, revealing a touch of sharpness.
Reflecting on her own changes, she realized she was no longer that timid girl but a woman capable of standing on her own. Yet she wondered how much of herself still remained in Li Hao's past affections.
"You are my best woman. As time goes on, you are the only one I can think of in my life," Li Hao said.
He felt guilty, realizing he hadn't done enough to earn Lin Xiao's trust.
"Li Hao, if you ever stop loving me, you must tell me. You cannot betray me. If you stop loving me, at least we will have shared love once; but if you betray me, I will feel that everything was not worth it."
