At two in the morning, deep within the underground fifth level of the secret Experimental Base, it was as quiet as a grave. The air was thick with the smell of machine oil and disinfectant, irritating Lin Yuan's nostrils. A cold draft seemed to emerge from nowhere, like a mischievous ghost, brushing against the back of his neck and sending shivers down his spine.
"This place is creepy, feels like something out of a biohazard movie," Lin Yuan muttered to himself, shrinking his neck as he tightly clutched the talisman Su Jiu'er had given him, feeling as if he were holding a hot potato. "I hope this girl didn’t really give me some ancestral Exorcism Talisman. If Wang Tianyu sees this, he’ll laugh his head off."
Taking a deep breath, he activated the Invisibility Cloak provided by Wang Tianyu. With a soft hum, like a mosquito buzzing, he vanished into the darkness, blending in like a chocolate bean melting into the night, leaving only a faint Spiritual Energy Fluctuation rippling through the air.
"Heh heh, high-tech really is something else; let’s see how you catch me now!" Lin Yuan chuckled proudly to himself, feeling like a mouse that had just stolen some oil, silently giving Wang Tianyu a thumbs up in his mind. "This guy may be a bit off-kilter, but he’s pretty reliable when it counts."
He moved cautiously, using his Guan Qi Abilities to deftly avoid the crisscrossing Light Nets and pressure-sensitive plates, darting through the space like an agile monkey in the trees. The Light Nets were densely packed and flashing red lights dazzled his eyes; if he touched one, he’d probably end up roasted like a pig.
"If I step on that thing, I’d definitely turn into a roast pig," Lin Yuan gulped as he glanced at the flashing red Light Nets, feeling a chill run down his back. "Good thing I have Guan Qi Abilities; otherwise, I’d be done for today." He calculated each step carefully in his mind, moving with precision like a finely-tuned instrument.
Suddenly, the sound of mechanical whirring broke the silence of the lab, resembling a giant beetle gnawing at the walls. The noise grew louder as it approached him, sounding like an army charging toward him.
"What the hell?" Lin Yuan's heart raced as he ducked behind a massive pipe. The pipe was rusted and emitted a sharp metallic odor that made him wrinkle his nose. "What is that smell? It’s worse than Old Wang’s feet."
Ten Hound-5 type robots glimmered with Metallic Luster as they approached from down the corridor, making clicking sounds reminiscent of skeletal fingers dancing. Their eyes glowed red like demons crawling out of hell, sending chills down his spine.
"Wow, those things look intimidating!" Lin Yuan thought to himself, feeling goosebumps rise on his skin. "If they catch me, I’d probably be torn apart." He held his breath and tried to minimize his presence, pressing himself against the pipe like a gecko, terrified of making even the slightest sound.
The robots began their patrols, scanning everything around them with infrared sensors like tireless hounds sniffing for prey. When their infrared beams swept over Lin Yuan's hiding spot behind the pipe, it felt as though he had been stripped bare; an uncomfortable sensation washed over him.
"Thank goodness I have the Invisibility Cloak; otherwise, I’d be toast," he silently rejoiced, feeling like a snail tucked safely inside its shell. Peeking cautiously at the robots, he noticed their movements seemed somewhat predictable, operating according to pre-set programs. "Looks like these metal hunks aren’t all that smart after all."
Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck him. "Heh heh, you think you can outsmart me? You're still too green!" Lin Yuan's lips curled into a mischievous smile, resembling a cunning fox.
He pulled out a packet of Wang Tianyu's specially formulated Super Sedative from his pocket. The powder was fine and emitted a peculiar fragrance, reminiscent of aged pickled vegetables. "Old Wang has really honed his pharmaceutical skills, but this smell is something I can't praise."
He discreetly sprinkled the sedative into the Ventilation Duct. The powder quickly dispersed with the airflow, filling the laboratory with an odd scent, akin to spoiled soup or the odor of Wang's socks that hadn't been washed in three days. "This smell is likely unbearable even for flies."
The robots inhaled the sedative, their movements becoming sluggish, like a group of drunken men swaying as they walked. Their eyes began to glaze over, as if they were mesmerized by a dazzling light show.
"Heh heh, the drug is taking effect!" Lin Yuan secretly rejoiced, feeling like a student who had peeked at the answers. "Anything produced by Old Wang is bound to be top-notch!"
Taking advantage of the robots' dazed state, he slipped out from behind the duct like a nimble mouse, swiftly traversing the corridor and disappearing into the Ventilation Duct Entrance. This Ventilation Duct was narrow and dark, resembling a bottomless pit that made him feel somewhat claustrophobic. "I hope there aren't any rats or cockroaches in here; otherwise, I'd completely lose it."
As he ventured deeper into the laboratory, Lin Yuan's eyes lit up like a groundhog that had discovered treasure. The Core Laboratory was larger than he had imagined, filled with all sorts of bizarre instruments and devices that flickered with colorful lights, resembling a scene from a Science Fiction Movie.
In the Core Laboratory stood the Ling Domain Simulator at its center, towering like a massive pyramid, radiating dazzling light and exuding powerful energy waves as if it were a bomb about to explode.
"Finally found you!" Lin Yuan felt a surge of joy in his heart, akin to a gambler who had just won the lottery. "Now I can wrap things up and head home for some sleep."
He cautiously approached the simulator like a cheetah stalking its prey, preparing to dismantle its core components.
Suddenly, an ear-piercing alarm blared, shattering the silence of the laboratory like a sharp knife piercing through the tranquility of night. The alarm was shrill and jarring, threatening to rupture his eardrums.
"What’s going on?" Lin Yuan's heart raced in shock, feeling like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. "Have I been discovered?"
A cold voice echoed through the laboratory's intercom, piercing his eardrums like a sharp blade: "Intruder detected, initiating emergency defense protocols!" The voice was devoid of emotion, robotic in nature, sending chills down his spine.
"Oh no, I've been exposed!" Lin Yuan thought to himself, feeling like a wild rabbit caught in the sights of a hunter.
On the walls of the laboratory, a hidden surveillance device lit up, revealing Lin Yuan's figure on the screen like a mirror that unveiled his disguise.
A swarm of Hound-5 robots surged in from all directions, surrounding Lin Yuan like a pack of bloodthirsty sharks.
"This is bad!" Lin Yuan lamented internally, feeling like a mouse trapped in a snare.
He took a deep breath, a glint of determination flashing in his eyes, resembling a warrior ready to charge into battle.
"Come on, let the storm rage even fiercer!" he roared, like an enraged lion, raising his fists and charging towards the robotic army.
An intense battle was about to erupt…
