Lin Yuan had just crawled out of that deadly Ventilation Duct, barely catching his breath when he felt a chill creeping up his back, reminiscent of Old Wang standing behind him in winter without his long johns, blowing cold air.
"Hey, not bad, delivery guy," a sarcastic voice came from behind him, dripping with disdain, as if Old Wang owed him eight hundred bucks.
Lin Yuan turned around to see a sharply dressed man with slicked-back hair standing there, holding a tablet. The screen displayed footage of Lin Yuan's frantic escape from the Ventilation Duct. There was no doubt about it; this guy was Nan Gong Xuan!
"You... how did you know I was here?" Lin Yuan asked, bewildered. Did Nan Gong Xuan have GPS tracking on him? Was he some kind of rare protected species that required 24/7 monitoring? That was quite the overestimation!
Nan Gong Xuan let out a cold laugh, his expression smug as if he had just won five million: "Little brother, do you even know where you are? This is my laboratory, filled with surveillance cameras. Your every move is under my control! I recorded your wriggling like a worm in the Ventilation Duct just now. Want me to send it to you as a keepsake?"
Hearing this, Lin Yuan cursed inwardly. This Nan Gong Xuan was truly a schemer! He actually recorded it? If that got out, Lin Yuan's reputation would be ruined! No way could he let that happen!
With an elegant snap of his fingers, the lights in the laboratory dimmed instantly, darker than Old Wang's bathroom. Lin Yuan found himself engulfed in darkness, unable to see anything and nearly crashing into a wall.
"What the hell is this?" Lin Yuan thought in shock and quickly activated his Guan Qi Abilities. The surrounding Spiritual Energy Fluctuation became clear as stars twinkling in the night sky, guiding his direction.
Suddenly, several red Laser Beams shot out from the darkness at incredible speed, like Old Wang chasing after a bus, heading straight for Lin Yuan. He quickly dodged as the Laser Beams whizzed past him, leaving scorched marks on the ground. If one of those hit him, he’d probably end up roasted!
"Wow! Nan Gong Xuan is serious!" Lin Yuan cursed again while evading the Laser Beams and muttering to himself: "This lab's defense system is more advanced than Old Wang's security door! His place is for keeping out thieves; this one seems to be for fending off Ultraman!"
In the darkness, several robots suddenly activated with a buzzing sound, surrounding Lin Yuan like a swarm of flies. These robots were all different shapes—some resembled spiders, others scorpions, and some centipedes—each equipped with Laser Guns and electric batons, looking scarier than Old Wang's cockroaches.
"Wow! Did Nan Gong Xuan bring a zoo here?" Lin Yuan thought sarcastically. This laboratory was practically a robot exhibition hall! As he clumsily dodged their attacks, he began plotting his strategy. A head-on confrontation was definitely not an option; he needed to outsmart them!
The holographic projection system suddenly activated, and the image of Nan Gong Xuan appeared before Lin Yuan, his cold gaze reminiscent of the harsh winter. "Lin Yuan, I have analyzed your combat data. Although your use of Lingqi is exquisite, it ultimately lacks systematic training. Your techniques may be agile and varied, but they are riddled with flaws. You are not my opponent."
Lin Yuan rolled his eyes; Nan Gong Xuan really thought highly of himself. "Come on, big guy, can you skip the small talk? Just bring it on! I'm ready!"
Nan Gong Xuan controlled the robots to launch a more ferocious attack on Lin Yuan, with laser beams and electric batons flying everywhere, creating a scene more chaotic than fireworks at Old Wang's place. Lin Yuan dodged left and right, barely escaping danger, like a mouse being chased by a cat, utterly flustered.
Just when Lin Yuan was about to be overwhelmed, a sudden idea struck him. He used his Lingqi to control a Spider Robot and had it fire wildly at the other robots. The laboratory instantly descended into chaos as the robots turned on each other; laser beams flew everywhere, and the scene became extremely disorderly.
Seeing this, Nan Gong Xuan's expression changed dramatically. He never expected that Lin Yuan could turn his own robots against him! Furious and humiliated, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Utilizing Brain-Computer Interface technology, he connected his consciousness with the laboratory's system to control various devices to attack Lin Yuan.
The lights in the laboratory flickered erratically as bizarre devices activated, unleashing powerful Electromagnetic Pulses that interfered with Lin Yuan's perception of Lingqi. Lin Yuan felt as if he had been struck by an electric current, leaving him numb.
"Damn! This Nan Gong Xuan is truly a tech fanatic!" Lin Yuan cursed inwardly; this laboratory was nothing short of a high-tech torture chamber!
Under the interference of the Electromagnetic Pulses, Lin Yuan's ability to sense Lingqi was severely compromised. He had no choice but to rely on his formidable martial skills and instinctive understanding of Lingqi to counterattack. Despite being in perilous situations, he never gave up.
At a critical moment, Lin Yuan seized an opportunity. Drawing upon his understanding of Lingqi, he cleverly utilized the laboratory's equipment to strike back at Nan Gong Xuan, successfully neutralizing some of the Electromagnetic Pulse interference and creating an opening for his counterattack.
Just as Nan Gong Xuan was about to make another move in anger, the alarm in the laboratory blared once more.
"What’s going on?" Nan Gong Xuan frowned, an ominous feeling rising in his heart.
Suddenly, the laboratory doors burst open, and a group of people dressed in black uniforms rushed in, led by none other than Su Jiu'er.
“Nan Gong Xuan, you are under arrest!” Su Jiu'er said coldly, her tone more chilling than that of an old creditor demanding repayment.
Nan Gong Xuan's expression changed dramatically; she never expected Su Jiu'er to appear here!
“How... how could you...” She looked at Su Jiu'er in disbelief, her eyes filled with terror.
Su Jiu'er let out a cold laugh. “Nan Gong Xuan, your scheme has been exposed!”
Could it be that Nan Gong Xuan's plan was truly about to fall apart?
