The next day, the gentle sunlight spilled onto the ground as Huang Ling took her two children back to her family home. Lin Dongzhe couldn't follow along and had to join the other kids in the alley to play. 0

While they were playing, one sharp-eyed child noticed a hole in Lin Dongzhe's pants, through which some urine-soaked fabric was faintly visible. The child let out a loud gasp, and soon the others gathered around, laughing uproariously and teasing him. Lin Dongzhe's face turned red and white from embarrassment; feeling disheartened, he simply turned and ran down a dirt slope. 0

Meanwhile, Suzhou and her sister Shan Shan were happily jumping rope in an open area. Their ponytails bounced with each jump, their faces radiant with bright smiles, their laughter ringing out like clear bells as they played joyfully. 0

In the afternoon, the warm sun lazily bathed the small courtyard. Suzhou sat alone on the doorstep, resting her chin on her hands, her gaze distant yet filled with longing as she looked toward the alley entrance. A gentle breeze brushed against her cheek, playfully stirring her hair, but she was oblivious to it, her heart consumed with thoughts of Xiao Ting. 0

The open space before her was once a joyful playground for her and Xiao Ting, where they would leap gracefully like lively little deer to rhythmic songs. The rubber band would fly between their ankles and calves, their laughter so loud it could shake the petals from the trees. Inside was an old desk that had been piled high with storybooks they loved to read together, their heads leaning close as they gasped at thrilling plots or burst into laughter at funny moments. Time flowed gently between the pages. 0

At this moment, everything around was excessively quiet. Suzhou sighed softly and murmured to herself, "Xiao Ting, when can we jump rope and read stories together again?" Her voice drifted into the wind like a distant wish, hoping for her friend’s swift return. 0

After a while, Song Ying arrived and saw Lin Dongzhe in his dirty state. Amused yet exasperated, she hurriedly took him home, helping him wash up and change clothes in a flurry of activity. 0

Suzhou played for a little longer before bouncing back home. As soon as she entered, she saw her mother busying herself with chores. She ran over and hugged Song Ying's arm. "I miss Tu Nan Brother! When Zhuang Tunan was around, Lin Dongzhe wasn't this naughty." Suzhou tilted her head thoughtfully before adding, "I miss Xiao Ting too; I really want to read with her." Lin Dongzhe chimed in beside her, "I miss Tu Nan Brother too! It’s more fun eating with him!" 0

In the kitchen, Song Ying was preparing dinner when she noticed Teacher Zhuang was also inside. She casually asked, "Teacher Zhuang, do you know when Ling Jie will be back?" At that moment, Lin Wufeng walked in and smiled at Teacher Zhuang, saying, "Teacher Zhuang, if Ling Jie isn't here right now, why don't you just stay for dinner? Don't be shy!" 0

Teacher Zhuang didn’t refuse; he sat down at the dining table and began to eat with gusto as if he were quite hungry. Song Ying turned to see Lin Dongzhe still playing nearby and called him over for dinner. However, Lin Dongzhe hung his head low and muttered softly, "I miss Tu Nan Brother; it's more interesting eating with him." 0

Halfway through the meal, Teacher Zhuang couldn't help but sigh deeply out of frustration towards Huang Ling: "Why won't Huang Ling just let my brother's child stay here for a while?" Hearing this, Song Ying put down her utensils and gently replied, "Teacher Zhuang, ultimately this matter hinges on resource allocation. You know that at home everything is distributed based on certain limits. Besides, Ling Jie is quite capable and wise; she must have her own considerations." 0

After listening to Song Ying's words, Teacher Zhuang took a moment to reflect and realized he had indeed been somewhat unreasonable without fully considering Huang Ling's difficulties. 0

The next day, Teacher Zhuang took the initiative to bring his child back home. Upon seeing his child again, he felt a wave of guilt wash over him; he silently regretted having quarreled with Huang Ling over this matter before. He resolved to be more understanding of others in the future while taking good care of his own child and fostering harmony with everyone around him. 0
