Time flew by, and before long, the New Year was upon them. Lin Dongzhe was filled with joy as he planned to return to Suzhou to visit Xiao Ting and her family. He had booked his flight in advance and was supposed to arrive in Suzhou that evening to reunite with his beloved Xiao Ting. However, fate had other plans; his flight was delayed, and he would now only be able to reach Suzhou the following afternoon. 0

Around noon, Huang Ling was busy preparing New Year dishes in the kitchen, muttering to herself, "Why hasn't Lin Dongzhe arrived yet?" Teacher Zhuang, hearing this, couldn't help but show a hint of disdain on his face, thinking to himself, "Hmph, this kid said he would come but can't even be on time." 0

At that moment, next door, Wu Shanshan had moved into the same courtyard after getting married and was expecting a child. While busy in the kitchen, she found the countertop too low for her comfort. Seeing this, Wu Shanshan's father decided to help his daughter renovate the kitchen. Considering it was New Year and everyone was in a festive mood, the Wu family also decided to renovate their kitchen. At this time, Zhuang Tunan was helping Xiao Ting paint the walls in the kitchen. Xiao Ting held a brush but seemed lost in thought, her mind drifting far away as she missed Lin Dongzhe dearly. Distractedly standing on a stool, she suddenly slipped and fell awkwardly to the ground. Ignoring the dust and pain on her body, she hurriedly got up and ran to a nearby shop to call Lin Dongzhe for an update. 0

With anxiety and disappointment filling her heart, Xiao Ting rushed into the shop and nervously dialed Lin Dongzhe's number, only to be met with the cold sound of a busy signal. Her eyes welled up with tears as feelings of grievance surged within her. Just then, the shop door opened gently with a cheerful jingle of bells. Instinctively turning her head, time seemed to freeze for a moment. 0

Lin Dongzhe stood tall at the entrance, bathed in the golden afternoon sunlight that outlined his handsome features. His hair danced lightly in the breeze, and his deep-set eyes reflected Xiao Ting's figure with endless warmth and longing. A smile spread across his face—the very smile that made Xiao Ting's heart flutter—while he held a large bouquet of vibrant red roses that seemed even more dazzling under the sunlight. 0

Xiao Ting stared at him in disbelief as her phone slipped from her fingers, tears instantly blurring her vision. Lin Dongzhe quickly stepped forward and presented the roses to her, softly saying, "Xiao Ting, all these delays only made me more eager to see you. This bouquet represents my longing for you; each petal holds my love." With a choked voice, Xiao Ting reached out to accept the roses; their soft texture felt like the warmth of their love. She looked up at Lin Dongzhe with teary eyes and said, "Why did you take so long? I thought..." 0

Lin Dongzhe gently pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly as if he wanted to merge their beings together. "I'm sorry; the flight delay had me anxious. I kept thinking of how quickly I could get to you. Right now, all I want is to hold you like this and never let go." 0

Afterward, Lin Dongzhe entered the house and presented carefully prepared gifts to Teacher Zhuang and Huang Ling with a beaming smile. "Dad! Mom! These are gifts I brought for you!" Teacher Zhuang initially pretended not to hear him and maintained a stern expression. However, Lin Dongzhe remained undeterred, calling out "Dad!" repeatedly. After some time, Teacher Zhuang could no longer hold back; a barely noticeable smile appeared on his face as he nodded slightly in acknowledgment. 0

The atmosphere inside became warm and harmonious as joy filled their hearts during this festive reunion. Huang Ling busied herself in the kitchen with an upbeat mood while humming a tune as she cooked. She thought about how everyone was gathered together today and felt compelled to showcase her culinary skills. The stove blazed brightly as she expertly prepared dishes; soon enough, fragrant oil-braised shrimp emerged from the pan—red and tempting enough to make anyone's mouth water. Huang Ling mused that Lin Dongzhe loved shrimp; he would surely enjoy this dish. Next came sweet-and-sour ribs that filled the air with an irresistible aroma. She figured Xiao Ting must love sweets; surely she would eat several pieces of those ribs too. There were also stir-fried vegetables—vibrantly green and refreshingly crisp—making Huang Ling hope everyone would enjoy their meal. 0

As they gathered around the table amidst laughter and chatter, Xiao Ting and Lin Dongzhe couldn't help but steal glances at each other; their eyes met like two rabbits racing in their hearts. Xiao Ting felt sweetly relieved: finally seeing him after days of longing. Lin Dongzhe felt blissful: seeing her made every moment of waiting worthwhile. 0

After dinner, Lin Dongzhe returned home briefly before Xiao Ting along with Peng Fei and Tu Nan Brother came over shortly after. They all settled in front of the television while Peng Fei exchanged glances with Tu Nan Brother as if signaling him to keep an eye on Xiao Ting and Lin Dongzhe. Peng Fei thought: it's New Year's; they shouldn't get too close or else Uncle and Aunt might not be pleased. Tu Nan Brother also felt it necessary to intervene since their relationship wasn't fully established yet. 0

Just as Lin Dongzhe leaned toward Xiao Ting wanting to chat privately, Peng Fei loudly announced the news: "Hey! Have you heard about that big news recently?" He nudged Tu Nan Brother knowingly as they sat between them while making small talk with Xiao Ting. 0

Whenever Xiao Ting and Lin Dongzhe tried to sneak in a word or two together, Peng Fei would pull Lin Dongzhe into discussions about sports: "Did you catch that game? It was amazing!" 0

As they waited for Tu Nan Brother's return from getting snacks or drinks, Xiao Ting and Lin Dongzhe were ecstatic when they finally had a moment alone together again. With flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes full of excitement, Xiao Ting said: "I've been thinking about those nights we spent stargazing." 0

Lin Dongzhe held her hand tightly with a smile: "I’ve been thinking about it too! Next time let’s find an even better spot." Their laughter echoed through the room while Peng Fei watched helplessly from aside feeling like a fool for being left out; he kept switching channels on TV while secretly wishing they would tone it down so he wouldn't feel so awkward. 0
