Shi Ye was preparing to have Shi Tian stay at his villa for a few days, hoping to take him to nearby attractions like the Great Eastern Sea and Yalong Bay. However, Shi Tian was eager to dive into researching the Rogue Software on his phone and decisively declined Shi Ye's warm invitation.
After leaving Shi Ye's place, Shi Tian drove his Electric Mini into the city. He still needed to buy some vegetables; he had noticed that the kitchen at home was quite well-equipped. Not picking up some ingredients to practice his cooking felt like a waste.
In addition to vegetables, he needed to buy some drinks. Living in such a hot place, beverages were definitely essential!
Finding a compass in the city wasn't easy, and with nightfall approaching, Shi Tian didn't have time to spend hours searching for one. He decided it would be better to order it online later.
He was sure there were no spices at home; even if there were, he had no idea how long they had been there and they might have expired. He would need to restock those as well.
After two hours of shopping, Shi Tian watched his savings dwindle visibly. With every scan of the code, his heart skipped a beat. If he didn't find a way to earn more money soon, this amount wouldn't last him long!
By the time he returned to the villa, it was already dark. He filled the refrigerator in the kitchen and realized that his first priority was to satisfy his hunger.
The recipes in Shandong Cuisine were all elaborate dishes, and when he picked up a knife, he quickly gave up on that idea. Boiling water for instant noodles seemed like the best option; filling his stomach was more important than learning to cook from scratch—at least for now!
Cooking might sound simple, but actually doing it was another story. Not to mention the vague terms like "a pinch" or "a suitable amount," just figuring out the right oil temperature could take him half an hour of searching online.
After finishing his instant noodles, he retreated to his bedroom and switched out the Mobile Card that Shi Ye had helped him purchase for his new phone.
There was no escaping the Rogue Software; Shi Ye had kindly bought him a phone, and it would be ungrateful not to use it.
Shi Tian now understood that this Rogue Software wasn't tied to just the phone or the Mobile Card—it was tied to him!
Such an advanced Rogue Software must involve quantum mechanics at some level; he couldn't believe anyone would go through such trouble just for a few thousand dollars on his phone.
After setting up fingerprint recognition and facial recognition, and downloading commonly used social media apps, Shi Tian discovered something interesting.
Each social media app that he downloaded automatically appeared on the home screen, but their presence there was rather pitiful—one could describe it as fleeting.
Whenever a social media app finished installing, the Rogue Software icon would sprout a leg and kick the newly downloaded app off to another screen. This Rogue Software was quite domineering!
After finally downloading all the necessary social media apps, Shi Tian began examining this Rogue Software.
Upon launching it, he found that the entire interface was simpler than his house! A white background with black text displayed only two words: "Broke."
Faced with those two words, Shi Tian couldn't help but feel resigned. It wasn't mockery; it was simply a fact! With only four digits in his account, he couldn't even afford a decent phone. If he didn't quickly find a source of income, survival would become an issue!
Leaning on others for support wasn't a long-term solution. This kind of dependency could become addictive; if overdone, it would sap away a young person's ambition.
Determined not to give up, Shi Tian started tapping furiously on the screen in search of hidden buttons but ended up hurting his fingers with no response from the screen!
Forget it; survival came first. He needed to focus on improving his cooking skills! He aimed to develop some practical skills before his savings ran out. But first, he would order a compass online.
Since Shi Ye had gifted him this house, he figured he should make some changes. Who knows? Maybe one day he'd strike it rich and be able to renovate it nicely so that he could live here permanently.
Two days later, after breaking free from his instant noodle diet, Shi Tian locked himself in his room for a full two days, finally managing to whip up a meal that could rival the dishes served at the hotel.
In relative terms, mastering one technique leads to mastering many; at the very least, with some commonly used Shandong Cuisine recipes, Shi Tian had reached an advanced level. After two days of intense focus, he had to end his seclusion—his fridge was nearly empty except for some drinks, and it was time for a second shopping trip.
Shi Tian had already planned what to buy this time: some squid, as he aimed to specialize in Iron Plate Squid next. Sanya was a tourist city where running a Shandong Cuisine restaurant required a storefront; selling large dishes from a stall was simply not feasible. Squid, on the other hand, was different. Iron Plate Squid was just a snack—one gas canister, an iron plate, and some seasonings were all he needed to set up a stall.
However, his cooking skills still needed refinement. If he wanted to make a splash in the market, he would need to go back into seclusion; at the very least, he needed to distinguish his Iron Plate Squid from those sold on the street!
When he returned home again, aside from filling up the fridge, Shi Tian had acquired a compass. He spent quite some time turning it around in his house; after marking down some notes with a marker, he realized that the main structure didn’t need any changes—only some simple wall removals and constructions were required.
He didn’t know how to build walls, but he could replace them with cabinets. As for tearing down walls, that was straightforward enough—he just needed to swing a hammer. However, since the house wasn’t officially in his name yet, he would have to consult Shi Ye before making any alterations. Speaking of which, it had been several days since he last heard from Shi Ye; he wondered where that guy had gone off to!
There was no rush regarding the walls; instead, he decided to focus on perfecting his signature dish first. Once he mastered Iron Plate Squid, he could buy a tricycle and start selling it on the street!
Three days later, having emptied the fridge and just as he was about to head out for his third shopping trip, Shi Ye blocked his way. After several days without seeing Shi Tian leave the house, Shi Ye was somewhat concerned.
“Hey! I have some time now; let’s go get the house transferred into your name!”
What Shi Ye referred to as having time likely meant that there were no fishing trips planned and no one else available to accompany him; otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have remembered Shi Tian at all.
In front of Shi Ye, Shi Tian had no choice but to comply; otherwise, Shi Ye would report back to Yun Wan'er about him. In that case, it would be Shi Tian who ended up suffering.
Moreover, who would refuse such a good deal as receiving a house for free? Once it was under his name, he could make renovations without any issues!
