Shi Tian had already helped him cast the rod. Unbeknownst to Shi Tian, Uncle Zhang had thrown it somewhere last time, so this time he aimed for a distant spot, casting it about forty to fifty meters out. By the time he organized the line, Uncle Zhang had already come over with a bucket of water.
"Thanks, Xiao Tian! Hand me the rod! You can go back to work at the shop!" After handing Shi Tian a cigarette, Uncle Zhang quickly snatched the rod from Shi Tian's hands.
"Are you kidding me? If you catch a fish with my rod, am I supposed to give it to you or not? If I give it to you, I'll feel bad; if I don't, you'll think it's unfair. This situation absolutely cannot happen!"
Watching Uncle Zhang search the sea surface for the float with the rod in hand, Shi Tian chuckled, "That was quite a long cast—about fifty meters. If you can't see the float clearly, just reel it in and cast again!"
At fifty meters out, with a bit of wave action, it was hard to see! Uncle Zhang was at least in his forties; who knew if his eyesight could manage that?
After glancing at the distant Abo, Uncle Zhang took a deep drag on his cigarette. "I might as well cast again! It's too far to see clearly!"
Though he said that, he could still barely make out the float. However, not wanting Shi Tian to enjoy his success, Uncle Zhang decided to cast again and practice the casting techniques that Shui Laoban had just taught him.
As Uncle Zhang reeled in and cast again ten meters out, Shi Tian decided to move away from there. It was unlikely to catch any big fish so close; he couldn't give Uncle Zhang a chance to regret it.
Sitting at the shop entrance, playing on his phone while watching people on the fishing platform across the way continuously cast their rods, Shi Tian's hands were itching to fish. The fishing conditions over there seemed fantastic! Although no big fish were caught, Black Sea Bream, Sea Bass, and Shi Jiu were coming up one after another.
Uncle Zhang's Beginner Protection Period was still strong; after catching several small fish, he pulled up a Sea Bass weighing five or six pounds. While this fish wasn't particularly valuable, it looked good! A five or six-pound fish was enough for a lively family meal!
As dusk approached, Shi Tian called Old Zhao to bring over some live shrimp as he prepared to close up shop. After posting job ads for a day without receiving any calls, Shi Tian was considering whether he should raise the salary a bit.
Driving Shi Ye's Dai Yue Ye home—this car was specifically left for him by Shi Ye—Shi Tian found the Electric Mini convenient but always felt it was a bit small and uncomfortable to drive.
After restocking according to his list, just as Shi Tian was pondering what else to add to the shop inventory, the hotel manager knocked on his door.
"Xiao Shi Zong, here’s the planning blueprint for Ren Lake. Per your instructions from Shi Zong, I brought it over for your review!"
Before leaving, Shi Ye had instructed that once the planning blueprint for Ren Lake was ready, it must be shown to Shi Tian first. Without his approval, no work could commence.
Taking a look at the blueprint, Shi Tian found no major objections; it was designed exactly as he envisioned. It seemed that Shi Ye must have discussed it with him last night.
The mountain spring needed a two-level or three-level reservoir built from granite; the water supply pipes for the villa area should draw water from the first-level reservoir. The water coming from the second or third-level reservoir would create an underground Spring Water feature below; even the upper reservoir needed some camouflage!
The water drawn down had to be drinkable and must be kept clean. The purpose of building reservoirs was to prevent small animals or fallen leaves from contaminating the water intake of the supply pipes.
As for Renhe on the mountain, there was no need for any construction; just let the spring water flow down through the valley and dig a Renhe at the foot of the mountain to channel into the villa area from its northwest corner.
The Renhe within the villa area shouldn't be dug too wide; faster flowing water is beneficial to avoid breeding mosquitoes! The design of Ren Lake looked good; they could proceed according to what was on the blueprint.
Once completed, pebbles would be laid in both Renhe and Ren Lake. In Ren Lake's upstream area, some lotus plants would be planted while aquatic plants would be grown below so that the water inside remained clear!
Jianren Lake is not just a stinky pond; the Mountain Spring Water is quite impressive. Once it takes shape, this pool will be filled with fresh water. A layer of pebbles will elevate its charm, and adding a few koi fish will enhance its elegance.
The villa area has planned two Ren Lakes, with the one at the back being larger. The water surface is almost level with the ground, but there’s a twenty-step marble staircase around the lake where one can sit and feed the fish.
For safety, a half-meter high railing has been installed around the front Ren Lake to prevent anyone from falling in. A small artificial hill will also be built for Xiao Yu to play on.
After discussing the modifications with Manager Liu, Shi Tian dragged him downstairs to walk around his yard, pointing out the location and planning of his Ren Lake, as well as where to install the mountain spring water faucet.
Once they finished these tasks, Shi Tian led Manager Liu up the mountain with a powerful flashlight. With such a large project handed over to him by Shi Ye, he felt he needed to take some responsibility.
After checking the flow of the spring water, which was already comparable to that of a household water pump, Shi Tian finally felt relieved.
“Send me the revised Blueprint tomorrow for review. If there are no issues, arrange for construction as soon as possible. However, hold off on the Spring Water reservoir for now; let’s complete the villa area first. This side won’t be ready for construction for another two weeks.”
The water from Ren Lake flows out of the villa area through an underground channel, so it doesn’t matter if we use some stones. We should build a Renhe River leading to the sea from the beach; make it look nice and add some long stone benches so people can sit and enjoy splashing in the water.
The peak tourist season is approaching. With this project taking at least twenty days to complete, once Ren Lake is filled with water, it will likely be ready just in time for the busy season.
After finishing their tour, Shi Tian had initially planned to invite Manager Liu for a meal, but Liu was busy looking for someone to revise the planning design and disappeared in an instant.
The next morning, at four o'clock, Shi Tian drove his Electric Mini to the store. They say some people rush to Zao Kou (the early morning market), and he wanted to see if he could bring in some business.
However, before he could even park his car, he noticed someone wandering around at the Fishing Spot across the street.
After turning on the lights and restocking, Shi Tian curiously grabbed his flashlight and ran over. As soon as he shone the light over there, he was somewhat speechless.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been fishing all night!”
Initially thinking it was Uncle Zhang who had just gotten into fishing—having caught so many fish yesterday that he couldn’t sleep due to their antics—he was surprised to find Shui Bi Zhang there using Xia Zhuang to bait his spot.
