Hearing that Old Gao only needed two rods, Shi Tian felt relieved. Both types of rods were available in the store, and with the afternoon competition about to begin, he could easily deliver them.
After confirming with Shi Tian, Old Gao turned back to the store and said, "The rods will arrive tomorrow morning, but you need to transfer the money first! I won't charge you for these two rods, but next time you need to make sure to add my profit!"
Upon hearing this, Liu Lei felt quite touched. He just wanted to get the rods quickly, so he handed Old Gao a cigarette and said, "Brother Gao, I'll transfer the money right away. Can you speed things up? It would be best if I could get them today!"
After Liu Lei spoke, Old Gao's expression turned cold. "What are you thinking? They were supposed to send it by express delivery, and it would take at least two or three days to arrive. I only managed to convince them to send it overnight because of our previous relationship and because I placed an order worth over ten thousand!"
Seeing Old Gao's change in demeanor, Liu Lei quickly smiled and said, "Thank you, Brother Gao! I really appreciate your help this time! How about I set up a dinner tonight as an apology? I’ll come pick you up!"
Upon hearing this, Old Gao's expression softened a bit. He patted Liu Lei on the shoulder and said, "Hurry up and transfer the money so I can send it over. Our relationship isn’t built in a day or two. I won’t charge you for these rods, but tonight I’ll treat you to a good meal; otherwise, I’d feel like I lost out!"
At this point, Old Gao shook his head and sighed. "This is just me. They did me a favor earlier; it took a lot of convincing for them to agree to sell me these rods. If it were anyone else, no amount of money would have made them sell! Go ahead and make your arrangements! I'll be waiting for you at the store at seven tonight!"
After sending Liu Lei off from the store, Old Gao hurried back inside and rubbed his hands together. Selling rods was far more profitable than selling hooks! If only there were more customers like Liu Lei who weren’t short on cash, he could change his car by next month!
After delivering the two rods to Shi Tian, he quickly headed to the fishing spot. The number of participants in the afternoon competition was significantly higher than in the morning—at least ten people!
This increase was thanks to those who had won prizes in the morning bragging about their achievements. They exchanged their rods, and Shi Tian dragged them into photos which he promptly shared in the group chat.
They complained that Shi Tian's photos were unflattering and affected their image, so they immediately switched to selfie mode to salvage their looks. A flurry of pictures followed, attracting even more participants!
In truth, it wasn’t entirely Shi Tian’s fault regarding his photography skills; after all, without comparison there is no harm! Being shorter meant that he needed someone even shorter beside him for good shots! And if his skin wasn’t fair enough, he could always use someone with darker skin as a backdrop!
Although there were more participants in the afternoon competition, the fish catch wasn’t as good as in the morning; however, the total catch was still substantial. Another two Wan Ji points were added to Shi Tian’s account, making him smile broadly!
Since things were going so well, he decided to keep up the momentum and switch fishing spots tomorrow for another two rounds. As soon as the afternoon competition ended, Shi Tian announced this news to everyone and reminded them to clean up after themselves by taking all trash away from the riverbank.
Fishermen have ten taboos; one of them is bringing trash along—anything brought must be taken back!
After working until around nine o'clock that night and sending off the last wave of customers, Shi Tian hurried home!
With two competitions boosting business today, there was quite a bit of restocking needed at the shop! The prizes given out didn’t leave many rods left for sale. With so many fishermen lined up to collect their prizes, Shi Tian certainly wouldn’t miss such an opportunity.
He took some sample rods off the shelf and placed them on the counter for anyone collecting prizes to handle! While playing around with them, he unconsciously snapped a photo of the payment code with his phone!
While restocking and preparing to post tomorrow morning’s competition rules in the group chat, he opened it up and was taken aback by how lively it was!
Even though it was late at night, the group chat was buzzing with activity. After two rounds of competition and receiving new gear, he felt it would be a waste not to show off a little!
As the Yellow Robe Ascension approached, the group members were buzzing with excitement.
"Before the Group Owner's shop goes under, let's make sure to give the boss a good run tomorrow. At this rate, the shop won't last much longer!" one member exclaimed.
"I did some preliminary calculations," another chimed in. "The Group Owner has given away over six thousand worth of Fishing Gear today alone. Tomorrow's expenses will likely exceed eight thousand. In just two days, nearly ten thousand worth of Fishing Gear has been handed out, and in return, we’ve only gotten four pounds of Bai Tiao. If we calculate that at ten dollars a pound, we’re looking at a return of four thousand. That means the Group Owner is losing over eleven thousand in just two days!"
"Can you really buy wild Bai Tiao for ten dollars a pound? It should be at least ten!" someone questioned.
"Bai Tiao coated in batter and fried makes my mouth water!" another member added.
"I’m not a fan of batter; I’d prefer some salt instead!" yet another chimed in.
After posting the competition rules and new Fishing Spot details in the group chat, Shi Tian decisively closed the chat window. He had more pressing matters to attend to and no time to chat with the group!
His Fishing Box was overflowing with Points, nearing the ten-thousand mark, and he needed to explore what other goodies he could acquire! After fiddling with the Rogue Software for half the day, Shi Tian was close to exhausting his options on the Fishing Menu but still hadn’t found anything new.
Was Rogue Software playing tricks again? That didn’t seem quite right! However, one thing Shi Tian was sure of: unlocking those Gray items required more than just reaching the necessary Points for crafting!
Take Fish Bait for example; it had been available since he opened the fish menu, but it was still grayed out and completely inaccessible! Was Fish Bait really that expensive? Who would spend tens of thousands on Fish Bait? There had to be other conditions for unlocking it! Maybe he should ask Rogue Software for a manual?
On second thought, it might be best to hold off on that inquiry. The last time he unlocked Pin Gou, his Fishing Box had only about eighteen Points left, and it deducted two immediately. During negotiations yesterday, when Pin Gou was moved to the free list, he had barely any Wan Ji points left and suddenly lost two thousand!
To make matters worse, he had carelessly lost some points himself without gaining any benefits in return, resulting in a deduction of four thousand Points. Now that his Fishing Box had Wan Ji points again, asking for a manual could easily cost him twenty thousand; it was better to wait until his Points were down to single digits before discussing anything!
"Xianxian," he thought to himself, "let’s drive Grandpa Kong to Chaobai River for fishing tomorrow! You know he caught a forty-plus-pound Giant Blue over there! You can fish too; let’s see if we can catch something bigger than him and show Old Kong who’s boss!"
Old Wen had been thinking about getting Old Kong's Rod but sensed that Old Kong was becoming wary. He realized that trying to get the Rod from him was becoming unrealistic and would have to seek other methods.
Later that night, unable to sleep as he tossed and turned in bed, Old Wen decided to call his precious granddaughter around ten o'clock for some backup!
