After feeding the Red Snapper and Qing Gan, I chopped up the fish into pieces and tossed them overboard as snacks for the ten or so dolphins. Oka, you really need to apologize to these dolphins! Don’t think those two rows of little teeth on the dolphins are just for show; they don’t just swallow fish whole like in aquariums. Dolphin teeth are sharp! Whales, sharks, and tuna are all on their menu.
Dolphins are incredibly smart and know how to use tactics. A family of ten or so dolphins can easily take down a shark much larger than themselves. In nearshore waters, dolphins are practically invincible; aside from boat propellers and large fishing nets, they have no natural enemies.
Moreover, dolphins are quite friendly; they occasionally rescue people for some heroic recognition. Even fishing boats out at sea benefit from their help; these little guys assist fishermen in herding schools of fish into nets while snagging a few stragglers for themselves. That’s why fishermen adore them!
This group of dolphins typically roams around Beihai and Sanya Bay, where there are records of about three hundred individuals. It’s my first time seeing them here; they’ve only been around for about six months! After finishing off the fish in my hand, I leaned against the side of the boat and watched the dolphins in the water.
Dolphins are social creatures that hunt in groups. Even caring for the Little Dolphin is a shared responsibility among them, similar to a large family dynamic. This group isn’t very big—only about ten individuals—so they can be considered a small family.
There’s a particularly large dolphin family over at Sanya Bay with more than a hundred members. If they all moved together, it would be quite a spectacular sight.
Aside from these groups, there are also those two dolphins that prefer to elope, wandering off together in Tian Ya. When they’re not busy, they’ll even swim up to the beach to show off their affection to tourists—feeding them plenty of dog food!
After playing with the dolphins, it was getting late; time to head back! With the setting sun ahead, Oka took the helm while Shi Tian helped Scallions and Ginger with filming. As we sailed into the morning light and headed back toward sunset, it felt pretty nice!
The only downside was that there weren’t many fish left on board. Aside from a few Large Yellow Croakers and that Da Zhang Hong caught by Shi Tian, most of our catch had already been fed to the dolphins!
Oka docked at the entrance of the shop while Shi Tian carried down those Large Yellow Croakers. As for that fifty-pound Zhang Hong? It was left for Scallion and Ginger to remove its fishy smell since he had fed all their Sea Bass to the dolphins!
Oka wanted Shi Tian to join them for a couple of drinks at the resort, but Shi Tian didn’t have the time; he needed to find some free labor to help him test Wo Liao!
Actually, it wasn’t just testing; he wanted to let them taste a bit of sweetness first, so they would later become his free tools.
Oh! Is that a Large Yellow Croaker? Did you go out to sea? As Shi Tian came ashore and saw the Large Yellow Croaker in his hand, Xu Yuanxiang and Zhao Zong immediately approached him.
Liu Ju Tian was not around; it was Tuesday, and he had to clock in for work. So it was just the two of them fishing here.
