The fish on Shi Tian's rod was substantial, but the Sea Wolf in the water had an even bigger appetite. In one swift motion, it gulped down the bait along with the hook, and Shi Tian could only watch helplessly as his line was pulled away!
"What the hell! You rob me and then eat my hook?!" He grumbled under his breath as he headed over to Wang Ergou, trying to keep a distance from Sun Lang.
There was no way he would let that Sea Wolf go! It was still a fish, and since it had bitten the hook, he couldn't just let it swim away. That would only encourage bad behavior, and such mischief needed to be firmly dealt with!
Seeing that Shi Tian had hooked a fish, even though it was a Sea Wolf and quite large, Wang Ergou became increasingly anxious.
He reeled in the line, tied on the biggest hook he could find, and grabbed a net to stir around in the living water tank for a while until he found the most active fish to attach to the hook.
Glancing at Shi Tian and Sun Lang, who had both caught big fish already, he realized there was no more room on this side. Meanwhile, Calmly's fish still hadn't come up. Because of their bet, Calmly was so scared that he had loosened his grip again; bringing that fish up seemed like an eternity!
Wang Ergou turned and ran to the bow of the boat, gently lowering his fish into the water. He had to be careful not to drop it too quickly; the bow was high up, and if he dropped it from that height, it could injure the fish and leave it too weak to swim away!
Having not used Shaking on such a big fish for a long time, Shi Tian found that Shaking wasn't so boring after all! He lifted the rod, slowly released some line while reeling in two turns at a time. With the rhythm set and background sounds of releasing tension filling the air, Shi Tian surprisingly started to enjoy himself!
On one boat with three people catching fish, there wasn't even time for Da Gui Wang to operate the tractor!
"Pour some water on Ran Ge's wheel; I'll help over there!" With his rod inserted, Da Gui Wang immediately moved to spray Sun Lang's electric reel for a bit!
Once the temperature on this side cooled down, they would switch over to help Shi Tian. Water sprayed up in misty clouds as Shi Tian felt an ethereal energy surrounding him!
As night fell, Shi Tian said, "You should go to the cockpit and turn on the spotlight! There are still dozens of meters of line out there; this fish won't come up anytime soon." He glanced at the sky; Cong Jiang Qu Xing would be arriving shortly. It was better to turn on the spotlight just in case.
"I can't! I don't know how!" Da Gui Wang replied lazily. "I'll hold your rod; you go turn on the light!"
Shi Tian thought to himself: "You just want me to lose this fish on my rod!" Frustrated but knowing safety came first, he reluctantly handed over his rod to Da Gui Wang and hurried into the cabin to turn on the lights.
He first turned on the anchor light and then switched on the spotlight. Checking the radar, he saw Cong Jiang Qu Xing approaching; they were only a short distance away. At this rate, they would arrive in ten minutes or so! He quickly grabbed the radio to give a heads-up before rushing back to the stern to check on his big fish!
"Turtle Brother! I'm done here; give me back my rod! You've worked hard!" Shi Tian said as he approached Da Gui Wang.
"Tian Ge, can you check on Calmly's fish? We’ve never caught anything this big before; we need your guidance! If I win this bet, I’ll give you an extra pack of cigarettes!" Without turning around, Da Gui Wang casually remarked without any intention of handing over Shi Tian's rod.
"Turtle Brother! I have no experience either! I only use electric reels; I've never caught anything big with a traditional rod!" Why should he join someone else's business when he had a fish on his own line?
"Who says you haven't caught anything? Look at your rod—there's a big fish right there! Two packs of cigarettes is all you get; no more!" Da Gui Wang said seriously as he stepped away from Shi Tian.
"Two packs won't do; it's fifty-fifty!" Shi Tian thought this haggling felt pretty good! It seemed like getting back his rod was out of reach now; Da Gui Wang was edging closer to Sun Lang!
Since getting back his rod was impossible now, he might as well squeeze some cigarettes out of Da Gui Wang. After all, yesterday he hadn't given Calmly or anyone else a single thing—if he could get a few packs from him now, that would feel quite satisfying!
"Come on! What's the big deal about a few packs of cigarettes? Who doesn't smoke? With a generous reply, Da Gui Wang leaned a step closer to Sun Lang, subtly provoking Shi Tianyi.
Seeing this, Shi Tian was at a loss and quickly took two steps back, only to find Da Gui Wang had returned to Stern!
Rushing over to Calmly, Shi Tian glanced at Calmly's Wheel, which was nearly empty! How were they supposed to play like this?
"Ran Ge! Tighten the drag! Otherwise, we'll clear the cup!" The fish was strong; trying to tire it out on its own was definitely not going to work. It was better to tighten the drag and slowly reel it in!
Calmly had long noticed this issue, but unfortunately, the fish on the Rod was too powerful. After being played for so long, its speed showed no signs of slowing down. This was a situation he had never encountered before!
Was this fish raised on steroids? Eight hundred meters of line out, and its strength hadn’t diminished; in fact, it seemed to be getting faster. What was going on?
With a sigh, Calmly tightened the drag a couple of notches and continued to work the Wheel. Meanwhile, the ocean patiently sprayed water nearby to cool down the Wheel! Previously, when fishing in freshwater or by the seaside, he never had to water the Wheel!
The greater the strength, the bigger the fish! Don’t think you can take advantage and act coy! Giving Calmly a sideways glance, Shi Tian didn’t see an ounce of frustration on his face; he was just showing off here!"
