As soon as fish was mentioned, Pingtou Ge lost all sense of thirst and heat. He dragged Shi Tian to open the Ice Chamber, revealing a display of large fish inside. After holding it in all morning, Pingtou Ge finally found someone to show off to!
Watching the two play with the fish, Li Ziyu felt a bit speechless. This was unbearable; her own brother had been completely taken away by fish!
"Let’s go! We need to take these into the kitchen and get them sorted out. Later, let Tian Ge cook; his culinary skills are great!"
With a smile, Jiu Yue picked up a pile of shells while handing over the Mouse Grouper to Li Ziyu, as she had snatched it away and even shared some credit with her and Shi Tian!
After discussing the fish, Pingtou Ge realized he was feeling a bit thirsty. His throat felt dry as he downed a can of beer and casually opened another.
"Xiao Tian, your Rod is really something! The bigger the fish, the more you can feel its performance! That big Sailfish this morning weighed a hundred and ten pounds; I reeled it in without even splashing water. The brakes held steady; that’s some impressive technique!"
He handed Shi Tian a can of beer while praising his Rod again, not forgetting to mention that morning's Sailfish. It was hard to tell whether he was complimenting the Rod or the fish!
"Not bad! You didn’t try that Iso Rod this morning? That Rod is custom-made; it feels even better! The Air Force has their set of Customized Rods; Pingtou Ge must have one too. How else can I win over this Brother-in-law?"
Pingtou Ge would eventually learn about the Air Force's Customized Rods; there was no way to keep that under wraps. He needed to be at least on equal footing with them if he wanted to pursue Li Ziyu—otherwise, wouldn’t Pingtou Ge trip him up?
"What’s so different about a Customized Rod compared to an Ordinary Rod? Is it just sturdier? Pingtou Ge wasn’t particularly interested in the term 'customized.'
He didn’t have much regard for 'custom' or 'limited edition.' The custom one might have slight modifications based on personal preferences, but there wasn’t much difference in quality.
As for limited editions, that was just pure intellectual tax. For the same item, if it had a limited label slapped on it, the price would skyrocket several times over, but the quality remained mediocre—no cost-effectiveness whatsoever.
His status meant he didn’t need these external accessories to elevate his standing. To him, everything should be based on quality; good quality was worth spending extra money on, but ordinary quality meant spending even a penny more was just paying an intellectual tax.
There wasn’t much difference in sturdiness; what made Customized Rods special was their feel! After sharing a drink with Pingtou Ge, Shi Tian reclined on the sofa and said: "When you cast aside your rod, you can feel every movement when a fish bites. That sensation is even more intuitive than Shou Si; it lets you precisely grasp the timing for reeling in!"
After discussing the Customized Rods briefly, it was now Pingtou Ge’s turn to feel anxious!
But whether he was anxious or not didn’t concern Shi Tian; he went off to prepare lunch. Once Pingtou Ge got his hands on that custom Iso Rod, he would surely come knocking at his door!
Watching Pingtou Ge head off to bang on Air Force's door made Shi Tian chuckle as he slipped into the kitchen to hang out with Li Ziyu!
Having been woken from a good nap by someone banging on his door, Air Force was filled with resentment.
"What are you shouting about? If you don't say something sensible today, I'll throw you to Hai Li!"
Last night we were out on the boat until eleven, and I was up before five this morning. Now that I've finally managed to catch up on some sleep, I'm being disturbed by Pingtou Ge again. It's no surprise that Air Force is in a bad mood!
Get up and eat; Xiao Yu and the others are back and they even caught a ten-kilogram Mouse Grouper! I heard from Xiao Tian that there are plenty of Eastern Star Groupers and Jinxiu Lobsters over at Ganquan Island. Should we go check it out this afternoon?
Xiao Tian wasn't exaggerating about the Eastern Star Groupers at Ganquan Island. However, these fish are protected species, so it's not easy for Shi Tian to catch them.
When Pingtou Ge mentioned the Eastern Star Grouper, Air Force snapped back to reality at the door, blinking and saying, "What Eastern Star Grouper? That's the Azure Star Nine-Spined Perch! He’s only been fishing for a few days; how can he tell them apart? Is the food ready? If it’s not done, tell Xiao Tian to hurry up. They’ve been playing all morning; we need to go have some fun this afternoon!"
The term "Eastern Star Grouper" refers to the Dongsha Islands, and as for "star," it pertains to the spots on its body. Although it's called the Eastern Star Grouper, it can also be found in Xisha, Nansha, and Southeast Asian countries, even as far as Japan, Australia, and Africa.
In China, the Eastern Star Grouper is a protected species, but abroad it's just another dish on the menu. With more and more being farmed domestically, they’ve become less endangered. In many places, farmed and wild ones are sold together without anyone checking.
The Azure Star Nine-Spined Perch looks quite similar to the Eastern Star Grouper; most people wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. The tail of the Azure Star Nine-Spined Perch is semi-circular. Once it's filleted and served on a plate, very few can distinguish it from the Eastern Star Grouper. Many vendors will use Azure Star Nine-Spined Perch to pass off as Eastern Star Grouper.
As for the Chinese Ornamental Lobster, that's even less debatable. Aside from Guo Yi's dish being quite famous, this lobster grows so large that aside from its long antennae, its body can reach sixty centimeters.
Alright then, let's go fishing at Ganquan Island this afternoon. Xiao Tian, do you have that Iso Rod from this morning with you? I didn’t bring my rod; I'll just use that Iso Rod! With Air Force's anger diffused, Pingtou Ge quickly shifted the topic back to the rod.
