As soon as Lu Ya finished speaking, Shi Ye immediately slammed the table and said, "Isn't this all for you? Who said chasing nurses is too difficult? Out of ten attempts, eight times you won't get a response. I just wanted to experience what it's like to be pursued!"
I asked you, did that fruit basket get you chased after? After downing a can of beer, Shi Ye smugly inquired.
Chased after? More like hunted down! I was chased all over the street by the nurses from the Emergency Department, wielding surgical instruments! If it hadn't been for my driving skills that day, I would have ended up in the hospital myself, probably preserved in formaldehyde!
After the commotion settled, Shi Ye turned to Kang Ziyu and casually asked, "Xiao Yu, did you return to Beijing recently? Didn't you visit Peking University’s campus?"
It seemed like a casual question, but his ears perked up like a rabbit's.
"Of course! I spent an entire day at the library!" Kang Ziyu replied with a smirk before falling silent.
This made Shi Ye anxious. "I was asking about the library at Peking University! I meant people!"
"Xiao Yu! Your coffee shop is opening the day after tomorrow, right? Have you set up the sound system yet? A friend gifted me a nice set of speakers recently. I don't need them; should I send them over to you?"
Kang Ziyu used to be such an innocent girl! How long has she been with Shi Tian to become so materialistic like Shi Tianyi?
"The sound system is already set up; we won't be changing it. There's no time! Didn’t your friend send you recording equipment? I want to set up a small recording studio! I'm just missing some gear!" Kang Ziyu's appetite wasn't large, but her ambitions were.
Shi Tian had arranged for her to have that audio-visual setup; everything else was sorted out, but the recording studio's equipment was somewhat lacking. Shi Tian had said that the studio was specially prepared for her, and even if a wealthy benefactor offered to pay for it, she wouldn't let go of her control.
Now that Shi Ye had come knocking, she decided to take advantage of him. She knew he was wealthy and that this recording equipment would count as sponsorship for Shi Tian. Later on, she'd have Shi Tian return that entry-level setup on the order list!
"Recording equipment? Yes! I don't need it either; I'll have someone deliver it to you!" Kang Ziyu chuckled.
Knowing that their shop was opening the day after tomorrow, Aunt Lu would also come by. She had heard their shop was located in Sanya and wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy a couple of days there!
After finishing her sentence, Shi Ye turned his gaze towards Lu Ya, staring at him until he felt uneasy.
"I don’t know about that; I swear on heaven, I truly don’t know!"
Shi Tian seemed to catch on; there was something going on here! The Aunt Lu mentioned by Kang Ziyu was related to Lu Ya and even more so to Shi Ye. Just one look made Lu Ya feel uneasy—there was definitely something significant behind this!
Taking advantage of a moment alone, they pulled Kang Ziyu onto the rooftop. Without needing Shi Tian to pry further, she began recounting a love story filled with twists and turns that she found both tragic and heroic.
Why did Shi Ye build a villa area here? Was it solely because of the location? Not at all.
Years ago, when Shi Ye had just graduated from school and was wandering around the country on a shoestring budget, he had no money but lived freely and joyfully.
In those days, "budget traveling" was quite popular. Many young men and women yearning for freedom were drawn together by it; unfortunately, some even lost their lives in pursuit of adventure.
It was during one camping trip near the rocky beach of the villa area that Shi Ye saved Lu Ying Er when she fell into the water while trying to take photos.
The wind howled and the rain poured as the two of them huddled together in Shi Ye's filthy, tattered tent, barely surviving the night without freezing to death. In the end, they resorted to the simplest method of keeping warm: cuddling together to endure that cold night in Sanya.
At that time, Shi Ye vowed to build a grand house for Lu Ying Er right there—a house that would shield them from the wind and rain, a warm and inviting home facing the sea, where spring blossoms would flourish.
Nearly ten years had passed, and the house was finally completed, yet Lu Ying Er had never set foot in it even once. It wasn’t that she had forgotten; the entire villa area was designed by her. To create this villa community, Lu Ying Er had even chosen to major in architectural design. She pursued her master's and doctoral degrees with the sole purpose of crafting that perfect and warm big house.
For this piece of land and for that grand house, Shi Ye worked tirelessly for seven years. He secured this plot without relying on any help from Air Force or Lu Ya, gathering enough funds to develop the villa area on his own.
When the house was built, Shi Ye eagerly awaited Lu Ying Er’s arrival. However, Old Lu intervened; he took her identity card and locked her household registration, clearly looking down on his son-in-law who was involved in real estate!
This melodrama made Shi Tian want to rush to the capital! Just when Shi Ye was finally about to resolve his personal issues, another obstacle appeared!
The Old Shi Family had always been a scholarly lineage—how could they be looked down upon by someone who merely mined coal? Slamming his hand on the table and pointing northward, Shi Tian felt a surge of frustration.
A coal miner who had spent a few years studying drill bits now fancied himself a member of a scientific family? They were coming over soon, right? Would Old Lu come too? Just wait until I give him a swollen face!
After venting his grievances, he glanced at Lu Ya leisurely sipping wine on the first deck. Unable to deal with Old Lu for now, why not take it out on Lu Ya instead? Maybe bully his grandson a bit?
