A single remark from Shi Chui struck Shi Tian like a dagger to the lungs. There was no way to refute it! Shi Chui was stating facts and reasoning; to argue against it would be sheer folly!
"Lao Shi, let me show you something fun," he said, pulling out the Squid Hook from earlier. He tied it to Shi Chui's Iron Plate Rod and tossed it into the water. Soon enough, a squid was pulled up.
It was Shi Chui's first time deep-sea fishing, and everything seemed fresh and exciting. As a couple of squids came up, Shi Chui eagerly grabbed the rod.
"Lao Shi! The live squid for catching tuna is all up to you now!"
He handed the rod over to Shi Chui, then slipped into the cabin. Opening the internet, he couldn’t show off to his friends, so he decided to flaunt it in the group chat instead. He shared the photos and videos from earlier, along with today’s catch of tuna. Glancing at Shi Chui and Pingtou Ge on the deck, he realized there would be no late-night phone chats with Li Ziyu tonight!
"Ye Ge, Xiao Tian and the others had a good haul! They caught seven tunas in one day and even snagged a whale shark!" Lu Ya said while lounging on the sofa, scrolling through the photos sent by Shi Tian.
"How do you know? Did he post it on social media?" Air Force asked, searching through his feed for any updates about Shi Tian catching a whale shark but found nothing.
"He didn’t post it; he shared it in the group chat."
"What group? You guys created a group without adding me?" Upon hearing about a group chat, Shi Ye quickly inquired.
These three had been hanging out in Xishuangbanna for half a month and had actually formed a group? But they didn’t include themselves—was that some kind of insult?
"It’s the Fishing Friends Group. Xiao Tian created it, and I’m one of the admins. I’ll add you both!" Lu Ya quickly added them to the group.
Once added, both men stared at Lu Ya’s phone as they watched the videos of Shi Tian’s catch; it was indeed an impressive sight.
"This fish situation is quite intense! After we return to Sanya, we need to head out again to catch some tunas for New Year gifts." After watching the video, Shi Ye turned to Lu Ying Er before heading back to his seat.
"Zhang Ji Niang is settled in, and my wife is now on our Hukou, but I still haven’t gotten past my father-in-law! It’s a bit of a headache!"
"I guess I’ll have to drink a couple of cups with my father-in-law during New Year! But getting through that door isn’t easy! A few fish won’t be enough to open his heart; I’ll need to put in more effort!"
Preparations for going out to sea needed to start soon; there were only about twenty days left until New Year.
"We should head to Xisha! A round trip will take at least a week. We need time to deliver fish door-to-door; there’s not much time left. We can’t be delivering gifts on Lunar New Year's Eve!" Air Force was particularly excited about going out to sea.
Xishuangbanna was nice enough, but seeing Shi Ye and Lu Ying Er flaunting their relationship every day was somewhat suffocating!
"Xiao Tian just went today! He won’t be back until at least the day after tomorrow! So we’ll head back to Sanya that day and go straight onto the boat, dragging him along to Xisha." After some thought, Shi Ye made his decision.
To go to Xisha, they needed to bring along Shi Tian too. Air Force One would be too tiring alone on the boat, plus if those three went together, they’d end up eating instant noodles and dumplings every day—they definitely needed a cook!
The three of them were thinking about Shi Tian, who was far away in Shanghai, and Li Yunfei was also thinking about him.
Finally, under the pretense of a business trip, he managed to get to Shanghai, hoping to find some time to fish. However, after a whole day of fishing, he hadn’t caught a single fish, and all the techniques he learned from Shi Tian seemed useless.
Was it the local fish that were picky? He bought local bait, but still no bites! He found himself missing Shi Tian’s Plastic Particles; those things really worked wonders! Unfortunately, Xiao Mian Ao had a leak and hadn’t sent him the bait as promised. It seemed like his own Xiao Mian Ao had forgotten all about it!
In fact, Li Ziyu hadn’t forgotten at all; she was doing it on purpose. Didn’t Li Yunfei love fishing? They wanted him to bring Shi Tian back with him, and what better gifts than a Rod and Wo Liao? Practical and thoughtful—this way they could save on buying gifts!
Li Ziyu calculated this well, but it left Li Yunfei feeling miserable. He spent an entire day freezing in the cold wind without catching a single fish and ended up catching a cold himself!
Hiding in his hotel room while scrolling through fishing videos, he heard a notification from the group chat. When he opened it, he was stunned. Goodness! Shi Tian had gone shark fishing!
But who was that guy next to Shi Tian? He looked so familiar! He had sent his son away to toughen him up, but seeing how well he was doing now made him wonder if he should send him off to Antarctica instead.
Antarctica was out of the question; getting there wasn’t easy. Maybe he could send him somewhere far away instead—like Xisha or Xinjiang?
For now, he decided not to dwell on Pingtou Ge’s situation and focused on the video Shi Tian posted. The fish out at sea were huge! Should he go out for some fun on the water?
But who would take him? It was impossible to find his son; even if he did go, that kid would probably avoid him and wouldn’t come down from the platform!
What about finding Shi Tian? Should he just head over there? He didn’t have much of a relationship with Shi Tian; would Shi Tian even take him along?
He decided to call Shi Tian via video chat first to gauge his response. Worst case scenario, he could run into Shi Tian out at sea!
When Li Yunfei’s video call connected, Shi Tian smiled slightly and quickly answered.
“Hey! Brother Fei, have you eaten yet?”
If it were any other time, whether or not Li Yunfei answered would depend on his mood. However, since he had just posted pictures of big fish, Li Yunfei must be calling to congratulate him. This call had to be answered! Plus, he could show off a bit—who knows, maybe he could even sell a Boat Rod!
“Xiao Tian! Impressive! You caught such a big fish! How does it feel?”
