The delivery had arrived, and it was an old acquaintance, Huang Pao Shen, who brought it to him. He was the first person Shi Tian had ever delivered warmth to.
In their usual group, Huang Pao Shen was quite active, but opportunities to go fishing together were rare. He delivered takeout every day, and when it was time for the fish to eat, he was also busy having his meal. That was when he was at his busiest.
Making money from people was relatively easy; although it wasn’t much, it was stable. However, making money from fish was not so simple; whether they would bite depended entirely on their mood. Thus, whenever he found himself troubled by this matter, Huang Pao Shen often chose to prioritize people over fish—this was a reluctant compromise for the sake of survival.
"Where have you been fishing lately? I haven’t seen you around!" Shi Tian asked as he received the delivery. "Did you catch anything on the other side?"
With a grin, Huang Pao Shen replied, "You must be joking! I’d love to go fishing, but if the fish are well-fed, I’ll end up starving!" He accepted the cigarette Shi Tian offered with a resigned expression.
After staring at Huang Pao Shen's face for a moment, Shi Tian lifted his head and lit the cigarette for him. "Seriously, if you caught something over there, I need to talk business with you!"
Seeing Shi Tian's serious demeanor made Huang Pao Shen feel a chill run down his spine; there was something off about the way this kid looked at him!
"I still have two deliveries left. Once I finish them, I’ll come over!" With that said, Huang Pao Shen hopped onto his electric scooter and sped away.
He had two deliveries that needed to be completed quickly; otherwise, he would lose money for being late. Additionally, Huang Pao Shen needed to hurry back to pick up a rod. Shi Tian didn’t dare use the rod in his shop; he bought one every time he used one. Once he got used to it, he dreamed about rods every night—he wouldn’t be able to sleep if he didn’t buy one!
Half an hour later, Shi Tian had finished eating and Huang Pao Shen returned. He pulled out a package of Largemouth Bass and said they would wrap up their fishing after catching these this afternoon.
Holding the rod, they cast their lines into the water. Shi Tian spoke up: "Delivering takeout isn’t a long-term career! Have you ever thought about opening your own shop?"
Huang Pao Shen was someone who could endure hardship. He still had a few spots available for shops but hadn’t found anyone suitable yet; unexpectedly, Shi Tian had come right to him with this idea.
"Absolutely! We must do it! I’ll find a location right away! All we need is your place!" Shi Tian urged excitedly.
The reputation of San Cai Tong Zi had spread widely; he had already secured hooks and now just needed a place.
"I still have two places available; giving you one wouldn’t be an issue. But how do you plan to run this shop? Do you have enough money?" Huang Pao Shen’s question left Shi Tian momentarily stunned.
What was going on? Hadn’t he just delivered a few places? How did this information reach him?
It wasn’t surprising that Huang Pao Shen knew about his deliveries since he was always out delivering takeout. However, Shi Tian hoped this wouldn’t get out; otherwise, anyone could come asking him for places and that would drive him crazy!
"I don’t have enough! I’m short on cash! How about you lend me some?" Shi Tian’s suggestion made Huang Pao Shen’s eyes light up. Did he think delivering places wasn’t worthy of the San Cai Tong Zi name and wanted to start charging now?
If that were true, then it wouldn’t just be San Cai Tong Zi anymore; it would be like being a fortune god! One would have to come pay respects during the New Year!
Lending some money wasn’t an issue; otherwise, having too much cash could be troublesome too! Feeling smug about himself, Shi Tian turned to Huang Pao Shen: "Did you see that shop across the street? I want to open it! I’ll cover the rent and handle the renovations inside; even the operational bonuses will come from me!"
But nothing comes without a cost—right now that shop is still mine; they’re letting me run it for free for six months. All profits during that time will be mine!
After six months, we’ll split it nine-to-one: I’ll take ten percent while they take ninety percent. By then, that shop will belong to them completely; I won’t interfere anymore and will only take my share of profits! Are you interested in letting me run yours for free for six months too?
Knocking his fingers together, Shi Tian turned around and fixed his gaze on Float, not in a hurry for Huang Pao Shen to respond.
His ten shops were not urgent at the moment; Li Ziyu had already taken over that matter, and they wouldn’t be opening before the New Year. He would first hand over the lease and see how it goes! Looking at Li Ziyu’s confident demeanor, it was clear he had his own plans.
What he was anxious about were Yi Laotou's ten shops. Sun Lang counted as one, and Cai Li as another. From Yi Laotou’s expression, he was still the hands-off manager. If things didn’t go well, Shi Tian would have to ensure everything was in order before Yi Laotou would take over!
“Want a daughter-in-law? I’ve heard them say they can arrange that for you! As long as you get a daughter-in-law, they’ll cover your meals and lodging, and even provide a year of service for free!” Huang Pao Shen asked earnestly while stroking his chin.
“Get lost!”
Shi Tian felt defeated by Huang Pao Shen. What kind of creature was this? Was he some kind of monkey brought in for entertainment? It was truly a waste to have him delivering food; he should be a gossip reporter instead!
Seeing Shi Tian’s exasperation, Huang Pao Shen immediately smiled and said, “Just kidding! We’ll do it your way!”
For the second shop across the street, the son had gotten into trouble and ended up in jail; the family was in dire need of money. I’ll talk to them later about renting that place to open a shop; the rent should be quite cheap!
Huang Pao Shen really was quite the gossip; how did he manage to find out about such things?
