At Fu Wan Reservoir, Shui Bi Zhang led Li Wang and Xiao Zhang San, who had been squatting there for the entire afternoon. They had been lured out under the pretense of fishing with Zhang Junming, and the three of them had hurriedly bought rods and learned a few techniques overnight before coming here. However, they quickly found themselves led into a trap by Shui Bi Zhang, who insisted on teaching them fishing skills day after day.
Initially, they aimed to improve their fishing skills to get closer to Zhang Junming, but as they fished, that thought faded from their minds. Shui Bi Zhang had prepared a four-and-a-half-meter rod for each of them, but once he saw they were hooked on fishing, he decided not to give them the rods; instead, he would take them fishing every day, ensuring they never escaped from his clutches!
You can't indulge too much in sweet rewards; too much will spoil the fun. Although he brought them here, he hadn’t set up any bait spots in advance. So, they spent the entire afternoon staring at each other with nothing to show for it except for a few small carp.
“CEO Li, fish are coming to your spot! There’s a Fish Star!” Shui Bi Zhang casually reminded him as he lit a cigarette.
“What’s a Fish Star?” Li Wang asked absentmindedly, his hand resting on the rod as he fixed his gaze on the float.
After spending a few days together, the three of them were deeply impressed by Shui Bi Zhang's fishing skills. Whenever he said there would be fish, there were indeed fish. Wherever he indicated there were fish, casting the rod there was always successful.
When big fish suck in bait, they create negative pressure in their mouths, producing bubbles. If you see bubbles in your bait spot that don’t break on the surface for a while, that indicates a Fish Star. The presence of a Fish Star means that big fish have arrived and are feeding.
Small carp produce fewer bubbles—usually just two or three small ones along with one larger bubble. In contrast, larger carp create many bubbles—clusters of them. When you see such clusters of large bubbles, it’s highly likely to be Grass Carp, which typically weigh over seven pounds!
Before he could finish explaining about Fish Stars, Li Wang's float dipped suddenly and began to sink slowly until it disappeared beneath the surface. He lifted the rod sharply; it bent into a deep arc. Zhang Junming and President Wang rushed over to help, each grabbing their phones to capture the moment from different angles.
They had never caught such large fish before; in fact, the biggest fish Shui Bi Zhang had helped them catch in the past two days was only about three pounds. The fish on Li Wang's line was clearly much bigger—his rod was nearly doubled over.
With a big fish on the line, Shui Bi Zhang felt compelled to lend a hand symbolically. It was impossible for him to guide Li Wang in reeling it in; letting it run was essential! Without some struggle from the fish, there would be no thrill in the fight!
“Hang in there, CEO Li! I’ll grab the landing net from the car!” After saying this, Shui Bi Zhang dashed toward the vehicle.
Li Wang managed to hold on while his fishing rod struggled under the weight! He retrieved the landing net and assembled it quickly. Just as Shui Bi Zhang reached the riverbank, he heard an exclamation of surprise!
As the sound faded away, Li Wang stared at his half-broken fishing rod in disbelief amidst all the commotion.
“I’ve got the landing net!” Shui Bi Zhang shouted as he rushed back to the water’s edge and saw that half of Li Wang’s fishing rod was still intact.
Had it snapped? It seemed this fish weighed not just seven or eight pounds but at least over ten! Muttering under his breath, Li Wang waved his hand and slapped his thigh—a natural instinctive move that couldn’t be taught!
Taking over Li Wang’s rod and examining it closely for a long moment while shaking his head and sighing.
What a pity! This fish is such a loss. If only the rod were a bit better, I’m sure I could have landed it!
Glancing back at Shui Bi Zhang, CEO Li slapped his thigh in frustration. How could a wild Big Grass Carp weighing over ten kilograms just slip away like that? It was the biggest fish I had ever caught with my own hands! And it was all because of the rod's poor quality?

After so many years of fishing, the largest Grass Carp I had ever caught was only about ten kilograms! The Fish Star I caught back then wasn’t much different from this one. Accompanying CEO Li as he lit a cigarette, Shui Bi Zhang shook his head and walked toward his fishing spot.
Following Shui Bi Zhang, I fixed my gaze on the rod in his hand. CEO Li’s eyes lit up as he asked, “How big of a fish can you catch with that rod?”
Reaching for the rod, Shui Bi Zhang smirked. Had he already reached the point of wanting to buy more gear?
The biggest fish I had caught with this rod was only around ten kilograms. Zhang Junming’s rod is similar to mine, but he has landed bigger fish; I heard he once caught a Bighead Carp weighing over thirty kilograms.
The most impressive angler I know is the owner of a Fishing Tackle Shop. Just last month, he caught an enormous Bighead Carp at Dongjiang with his rod—now that was something remarkable!
