With a swift tug, he pulled up the rod, and with a strong flick, a little carp weighing less than half a pound flailed back and forth in the air before swinging down in front of Shi Tian.
He quickly unhooked the fish and stuffed a few plastic particles into its mouth, casually tossing it back into the river, hoping to attract some bigger fish to come pay him a visit!
Watching Shi Tian release the little carp back into the water, Jian Qiang Ge pressed the rod against his thigh and leaned over to grab his cigarette pack.
"Your fishing skills are impressive; when you say big fish, you really mean it. Just this one is worth more than my ten combined!"
"Come on, brothers, have a smoke. I can't get up to offer you any."
Shi Tian's catch was indeed larger than what he had reeled in, but among the carp, that fish was hardly worth mentioning; it barely qualified as a fish at all.
He stood up to take a smoke and handed one to Sun Lang while Shi Tian remained unhurried, continuing to cast his line.
There were fewer grass carp here, so he was mostly catching common carp; however, there were still quite a few around.
After baiting with plastic particles again and casting out his line, he lit a cigarette. The float bobbed suddenly—another bite!
Catching multiple carp in succession wasn't common! In one spot, there might only be one or two larger fish at most. If he was catching them one after another, it was likely that they were all little carp weighing under three pounds.
If the spot was full of little carp, what fun would that be? Carp under two pounds wouldn't even fill a plate!
Resting his hand on the rod and watching the float intently, he felt another bite—steady and strong; this had to be something substantial!
As he saw the float disappear beneath the surface, he yanked the rod up sharply, the sound of water slicing echoed as Jian Qiang Ge's adrenaline surged.
Shi Tian had hooked a fish, and Sun Lang immediately got up to assemble the net.
"How big is it?" Sun Lang asked casually while setting up the net and returning to his fishing spot after glancing at Shi Tian's rod.
"Not too big—around four or five pounds. I'll just tire it out and scoop it up myself!" Feeling the strength transmitted through his hands, he thought that this fish hadn’t even learned how to jump yet; not letting it go would be the greatest respect for it!
Upon hearing four or five pounds, Sun Lang pushed the net closer to Shi Tian and continued fishing for himself; such a fish wasn’t worth both their efforts.
In less than five pounds of carp, after about three minutes on land, he tossed it into Yu Hu, washed his hands, and resumed casting his line.
"Brother, I need your help! Can you help me set up a spot? I’ll treat you to some Moutai later!"
Seeing Shi Tian's catch safely in the net made Jian Qiang Ge feel a bit envious! If he could also land a five-pound carp, he'd feel confident when returning home; who would dare search him then? What a joke! At least he'd deserve some respect!
This feast was escalating quickly! From wine to Wuliangye, then from Wuliangye to Moutai—if he caught something over ten pounds, would they have to upgrade again?
"Brother, this is about fishing for big fish; can your arms handle it? Should I get you some small fish instead?"
Jian Qiang Ge glanced at his left arm, unsure of its condition. After a morning of practice, his wrist was noticeably swollen.
What was there to be afraid of? He encouraged himself to fish boldly, reminding himself that even with just one usable arm, he could handle any big catch!
As he had Shi Tian help him set up the fishing gear, Jian Qiang Ge bent down to open the Fishing Box. He took out a Loss Prevention Rope and secured it to the wheelchair. No matter how big the fish was, it would either come up or he would go down!
