As soon as the old man left, the Fishing Box was set up, and this Fishing Spot was entirely in their hands.
Night fell, and the few Bros from the afternoon showed no signs of leaving; they remained steadfast at their posts. A few Carp were not enough to satisfy their appetites, which only seemed to grow larger.
The old man kept them company, carefully storing the Mullet and Wo Liao in the Fishing Box. In his hand was the scattered bait he had prepared earlier. With this amount of bait, he could hold out for another hour or two.
With the Fishing Spot secured, he set up a tent for Xiao Feng and Shui Bi Zhang, as they needed to prepare for the Dace fishing later that night.
He dropped bait into the water, hoping to attract nearby Xiao Yu and entice Huchen to come and feed. This method was similar to fishing for Tuna in Nan You, where lights were used to gather fish, drawing countless Xiao Yu. With more Xiao Yu around, the big fish would come to hunt, and then they could go Fishing for Big Fish!
Though theoretically sound, they had never put this method into practice before. Now it was time to give it a try and see how effective it really was!
He felt a bit nostalgic for Xiao Tian; if he were here, they wouldn’t have to settle for instant noodles! As he lit the gas stove and boiled a few packs of noodles, Wang Ergou genuinely missed Shi Tian—or perhaps it was Shi Tian's cooking he longed for.
When they went Sea Fishing with Shi Tian, he was always in charge of cooking. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to help; it was just that Shi Tian looked down on their culinary skills. To ensure his own satisfaction, he had to cook himself while also preparing a meal for them. Their only task was to eat and clean up afterward!
Shi Ye had left for Myanmar but mentioned to Shi Tian that there were developments regarding Wild Boar Island. However, it needed to go through military channels before being transferred into Shi Tian's name.
Wild Boar Island could no longer be called by that name; after all the necessary procedures were completed, in order not to attract too much attention, Wild Boar Island would become history. It would be renamed Xing Island—Star Island—as Old Kong put it.
After sending off Shi Ye and returning home alone, he decided it wasn’t worth starting a fire just for himself. He might as well head over to the old man’s place for a meal since he had already caught a whiff of something delicious wafting from the yard when he entered.
“Xiao Tian! Get me some Bait! Your senior brother has been bragging about how great his Dace are and insists on inviting me to fish with him. As your master, I can’t let him show me up!”
The old men had moved into the yard behind Shi Tian’s house, making it convenient for him to drop by for meals. He could smell the aroma from the kitchen and knew he wouldn’t miss dinner.
“Master, didn’t your senior brother return to Dalian? Do they even have Huchen there? The ice hasn’t melted yet this season!” He placed his bowl down after finishing a sip of soup; Yi Laotou’s cooking was undeniably superior—his skills far surpassed his own.
With the same ingredients and process, Yi Laotou’s dishes tasted significantly better than his own. The gap in their culinary skills was quite evident!
That’s what happens when you have too many disciples; it can get confusing. With so many people around, if you don’t see them for years, you might not even recognize them anymore. He shot Shi Tian a glance; this kid really needed to get with the program!
There were things one shouldn’t say outright—why bring up those packs of Wo Liao? Was there any point?
“Alright, I’ll get some for you tomorrow. We don’t have any Bait at home, but I remember there’s a pack at the shop—though I’m not sure if Xiao Feng took it.” After replying, Shi Tian began tidying up.
It was nice to mooch off meals like this, but he couldn’t just eat without contributing something in return. He couldn’t just stuff himself and then lounge on the sofa while the old men did all the work! If that happened, he’d probably get kicked out by all four of them next time!
