After finishing his time in Shandong with his Fishing Buddy, Shi Chui had successfully convinced them to buy a Smart Rod. He was no longer satisfied with just catching Carp every day.
The old man was still at Ganjiang, and it seemed like this group had thoroughly fished the area. At the very least, the Huchen in Chang had suffered; the largest one caught was over a kilogram and about 1.6 meters long, taken by Yi Laotou.
Li Ziyu and Shi Tian were at Taihu, where they had been for a week without sharing a single fish. It appeared that Taihu wasn’t worth visiting; there were no big fish there, otherwise Shi Tian would have already shared some catches.
Taking advantage of Lu Ying Er and Yun Wan'er still enjoying their time in the capital, he needed to make the most of his vacation.
"Old Zhang, there are big fish at Ganjiang! Huge Huchen! I have a few friends who caught several big fish weighing dozens of pounds over there. Want to go for a few days?"
A trip to Jiangxi was still quite far; driving was out of the question, so flying was necessary. Going alone would be too boring, so he thought about bringing along a couple of friends for some fun.
"Ganjiang? The one in Jiangxi? You’re going that far just to catch a fish? You’d need the Air Force for that! No way!" Old Zhang replied, sounding hesitant. He had been feeling demoralized after being teased by Shi Chui and was now in a cautious investment mindset.
"What a pity! My friends are fishing masters; I originally wanted them to teach you a few tricks, but it seems that won’t happen now."
"Alright then! You keep fishing for your Carp in Shandong! I’m heading to Dace instead. I wonder if Xiao Tian has time lately; if he does, after catching some Huchen, I’ll ask him to take me out for Tuna!" He casually mentioned, while Shi Chui continued to entice Old Zhang.
Old Li was out of luck; he couldn’t come out. He had sneaked out to fish yesterday but was caught by his wife, who chased him down to the riverbank. He wouldn’t have any free time for at least a week.
"What does Huchen look like? I’ve never seen one! How about we go play for a few days?" Upon hearing there might be an opportunity to go out to sea, Old Zhang immediately changed his tune.
Shi Chui mentioned that sea fishing yielded fish weighing at least ten pounds each. With such large fish around, who would still bother with Little Crucian Carp?
"Alright then, let’s book tickets for tomorrow morning." It was unfortunate; he had originally planned to call Old Li but decided against it. He didn’t want to interfere with someone’s family just for fishing.
When Shi Chui returned, Old Li's family was back on high alert. They were guarding against fire, theft, and Shi Chui—if they could, they would have put up signs saying "No entry for Shi Chui and dogs."
"Not calling Old Li? Won't he come looking for us when he gets back?" "Leave that to me; I’ll call him shortly. Whether he can go is up to him; whether he calls is our attitude!"
As soon as the call ended, Shi Chui quickly sent Old Zhang the shared catch from Yi Laotou—a massive Huchen—to motivate them to head to Nanchang.
After sending Yi Laotou's catch, he shared information about several other old fishermen and Wang Ergou’s catches as well. With dozens of shared catches sent out, none weighing less than twenty pounds, he was sure they would be tempted!
As Old Zhang browsed through the shared information from Shi Chui, he felt his breath quicken.
How could anyone catch such large fish weighing dozens of pounds? His own record barely exceeded eighteen pounds; he had bragged about that fish for years. If it weren’t for preserving its bones, no one would believe him now.
He pulled out his phone and booked a ticket without hesitation—regardless of whether Old Li could join him or not, he had to go himself. Catching a fish over twenty pounds would allow him to make a specimen; that eighteen-pound bone wouldn’t last much longer—he needed another big fish to keep things going.
After booking the ticket and setting up his Line Setup based on that weight, he finally picked up his phone and called Old Li.
"Zhang? Why are you calling so late?" As soon as the call connected, Old Li spoke first before Old Zhang could say anything.
