As the Electric Eel made its appearance, a group of people no longer feared the water ghosts. The commotion it caused made everyone grab their buckets and flee, wasting precious fishing time. After all, it was only one day of fishing in an entire week—was that easy?
Glancing at Old Niu, Shi Tianyi chuckled, "Are you planning to treat us? Your eyes are practically digging into my Fishing Box."
"Treating? Forget about it; I'm catching a flight! There's still half a bag of Plastic Particles left here, and we can't take it with us. Do you need it? If so, I'll leave it for you!"
Opening the Fishing Box, he handed the remaining half bag of Carp Pellets to Old Niu before quickly making his escape.
Watching Shi Tian leave, Old Niu stuffed Wo Liao into the Fishing Box. He glanced at another big brother nearby, feeling a bit uneasy. He hurriedly slung the Fishing Box over his shoulder and went to retrieve the Big Carp from the water.
What a pity! Earlier, he had seen that kid's Fishing Box still had an opened bag of Plastic Particles. If he had known, he would have brought a few more packs of cigarettes; offering one might have been enough to trade for that bag of Plastic Particles!
But now that the person was gone, it was too late to think about such things. First, he needed to carry this massive Big Carp back!
"Old Sun, can you drive my car back? I'm dirty and won't be driving myself," Old Niu said as he pulled out his car keys and handed them to another big brother. He recalled the way home and continued speaking.
"Sure! Just give me your Fishing Box; I'll put it in the car while you carry the fish back slowly!" Old Sun said as he pocketed the keys and reached for Old Niu's Fishing Box.
"No need! The Fishing Box is dirty; I can carry it myself. You should hurry back!" Seeing Old Sun reaching for the Fishing Box, Old Niu quickly took two steps back.
"Here, take your keys back; I'm dirty too. If necessary, I can help you carry the fish while you drive back yourself."
He had caught a few decent Carp himself; since he wasn't given a chance to help, he might as well carry his own fish back. It wouldn't be fair to hog everything.
"Then I'll be your designated driver." Old Sun took the keys and pulled out his phone. He hadn’t expected Old Niu to have this trick up his sleeve.
"Old Niu, remember our vow from years ago? We share both fortune and misfortune. Are you treating me tonight?"
Seeing Old Niu getting a designated driver made Old Sun anxious. The Plastic Particles were not something to be ignored; if they waited until they got back to discuss it, there might not be any chance left.
"Don't worry; how could I forget? Tonight, bring your wife and kids over to my place; I'll treat you all to fish." With a hearty laugh, Old Niu hoisted the fish onto his shoulder and headed toward the roadside with his belongings.
"Are we talking about fish? It’s Plastic Particles—Plastic Particles!" Following in Old Niu's footsteps, Old Sun picked up his things and tried to catch up with him, wanting to settle the matter of the Plastic Particles first.
"The Plastic Particles are something I had to swallow my pride to ask for; why should I give them to you?" Knowing that Old Sun had designs on the Plastic Particles and that some had to be shared out anyway, he thought if he could minimize how much he gave away, that would be best.
"One Rod—we split it evenly." He extended a finger as Old Sun laid out his terms.
"Custom-made?"
"What are you thinking? Just an ordinary one—the one that costs over a thousand! A custom-made Seventy-Two Thousand is worth a family car; I’m not generous enough for just some Plastic Particles."
"So stingy! Just grab a bag; I’ll share some with you—at most one-third!"
Originally wanting a custom rod himself, now that Old Sun was willing to give him one, he decided to wait. Once the Rod arrived, he would see what differences there were between the two types. If there was indeed a significant difference, he could always order one for himself later on.
The division of spoils was complete, and Old Sun parted ways with Old Niu.
Old Niu's catch was significantly larger than his own. Staying with him would only overshadow his own achievements, so he needed to chart a new route home.
Standing by the roadside, he glanced at the fish in his hands and then at Old Niu's retreating figure. He turned back to look at the Electric Eel by the riverbank, which had been charred in the process. Should he take this thing with him? Weighing in at over thirty pounds, according to those young men, it might just be more impressive than Old Niu's Carp!
