The commotion was quite significant, eventually drawing attention on television, leading to a crowd applauding and inadvertently boosting the popularity of Xingpai Fishing Gear.
In fact, the domestic rod market was rather stagnant. In Shi Tian's view, there wouldn't be any groundbreaking sales growth in the past two years, especially since most people were short on cash. At most, they could only increase brand awareness.
As dawn broke, Da Gui Wang and his group arrived. However, Shi Tian was not with them; he had gone back to catch some more sleep. When three cars pulled up and over a dozen people got out, they found the area completely deserted.
"Let’s head down this way and search for a fishing spot to the right. We’ll claim that whole area while it’s still empty! There are plenty of fish here; last time we caught a lot!" one of them suggested. Now that it was light enough to see the path ahead without headlamps, they proceeded.
With a call to action, Da Gui Wang took the lead to secure the fishing spot before assembling their rods. If they waited too long and others showed up with their Iso Rods, they wouldn’t have a chance to fish.
He inserted the rod onto the reel while Little Fatty tied it up, eager to cast his line and test the waters. The first cast yielded a catch—a Stone Bass weighing over a pound. Instead of feeling pleased, Da Gui Wang grew concerned.
Logically, they should have been catching Sea Bass bait—larger and meatier fish that would surely excite everyone. But starting off with a Stone Bass made Da Gui Wang want to call Shi Tian for confirmation.
Then he hooked another fish—a big one, at least twenty pounds! Da Gui Wang pulled out his phone, but Ming Ge's shout startled him so much that he nearly dropped it into the sea.
Having bought the rod just over a week ago, Ming Ge finally experienced its drag function; he had thought it was merely decorative! Despite hearing the drag squeaking away, Da Gui Wang didn’t believe Ming Ge could land such a large fish on his first try. Typically, the larger catches around here were Sea Bass, with ten pounds being considered big; most were around six or seven pounds.
However, it was Ming Ge's first time sea fishing, so it wasn’t surprising he hadn’t encountered the power of sea fish before. Even that Stone Bass he caught earlier weighed less than two pounds but felt heavy like it was snagged on a rock.
Watching Ming Ge fight the fish without reminding him to tighten the drag didn’t bother Da Gui Wang; he appreciated having someone like him in the group to keep spirits high.
After catching two fish in quick succession, excitement surged through their group. Observing everyone casting their lines with fervor, Da Gui Wang stepped back from Ming Ge a few paces and cast his own rod at an angle—this was indeed how you properly cast with a Lure Rod!
Ming Ge fought for nearly ten minutes before bringing up a Sea Bass weighing just over six pounds. While he wasn’t disappointed, it didn’t quite meet his expectations; he had hoped for something closer to twenty pounds!
"Nice job, Ming Ge! An Azure Sea Bass! At six pounds, that's worth about a hundred bucks—a great start!" Da Gui Wang encouraged him enthusiastically.
While Da Gui Wang spoke about market prices, he knew that the purchasing price would be significantly lower—perhaps only fifty dollars for such a large fish from a fishmonger.
"Oh right! This fish should sell for over a hundred bucks! If we catch twenty of these today, we could buy another rod!" Da Gui Wang remarked. Ming Ge's eyes lit up at this thought; they decided not to set their goals too high today—after all, greater expectations often led to greater disappointments. For now, they aimed to at least recoup their investment in rods.
