Old Mo didn't show any enthusiasm, and Shi Tian felt a slight disappointment. Wasn't he supposed to express some envy or offer a compliment? At the very least, a half-hearted congratulation would have sufficed!
This old man was truly rude! He was even less polite than Maasai. Look at Mu Sa and Simba, jumping three feet high with excitement because their boss caught a bigger fish than theirs. They were happier than their own boss!
The fish slipped onto the shore, and with one net, they pulled it up. It definitely weighed over twenty pounds, and it was likely close to thirty.
"Old Mo, this fish is pretty good, right?" Shi Tian said as he watched the two bodyguards hold the fish. He took a couple of photos and then joined in for one himself. Holding it up to show Old Mo, Shi Tian couldn't help but flaunt a bit.
"This Fish Float is impressive!" he exclaimed, giving a thumbs up as Old Mo stood up to take out his phone.
Seeing Old Mo already pulling out his phone, Shi Tian moved the fish to the riverbank and gently released it into the water. With a flick of its tail, it disappeared beneath the surface.
Old Mo was taken aback. "You pulled out your phone just for me to play this game? You let it go just like that? Couldn't you wait for me to take a picture first?"
"Old Mo," Shi Tian began, "I heard that you Europeans are particularly attentive to environmental protection. If you see trash in public places, do you pick it up?"
"Not necessarily," Old Mo replied. "People with high standards will definitely pick it up, but those with low standards won't bother! For example, Germans—they won't pick it up; they'll just stand there criticizing those who litter. If they can't find the litterer, they'll ignore it!"
"The Dutch and Germans are sworn enemies, just like Koreans and the Japanese," Shi Tian noted. He wasn't surprised that Old Mo would say something like that.
"Really? You Dutch have such high standards? If it were you, would you pick it up?" Shi Tian challenged him directly. "You think your standards are high? Nonsense! There's trash everywhere on the streets!"
"However," Old Mo countered quickly, "the air quality in the Netherlands is indeed excellent because everyone drives their own cars. Each person has an average of two cars."
"Of course! Our Dutch standards are the highest!" Old Mo declared confidently. "If I saw trash on the street, I would definitely pick it up! But here... there’s just too much trash on the streets for me to handle!"
Seeing Shi Tian's skepticism, Old Mo immediately retorted, though his words lacked conviction.
"Are you sure? Tomorrow morning I'm going to the beach to pick up trash. Want to join me? Don’t tell me you don’t have time; tomorrow's the weekend! With your Dutch personality, I wouldn’t believe you'd be busy!"
Shi Tian pressed on, pushing Old Mo into a corner. He couldn’t stand being ridiculed for picking up trash himself; how could he tolerate that? Bringing a European along to pick up trash at the beach would be a way to turn the tables on those media outlets from Europe and America!
The self-proclaimed king without a crown, Shi Tian couldn't back down now; he had to drag Old Mo into this as well. If he could get Old Mo to join him in picking up trash, those media outlets would surely fall silent. Shi Tian didn't expect them to promote him positively; he just wanted to avoid negative publicity and not attract attention from the embassy.
They wouldn't be able to promote anything positively—even if Old Mo picked up trash, they wouldn't spin that in a good light. Because once they did promote it and combined it with previous stories about him living off picking up trash, anyone with half a brain would connect the dots and realize his image would look good!
Old Mo's face darkened as he slapped his thigh—he had been tricked by Shi Tian! He really couldn't say no now; just moments ago he had been projecting an impressive image that could rival Kilimanjaro's peak. If he refused now, he'd come off as hypocritical!
