The Mini Light Boat is about to launch, but there are some complicated procedures that can't be handled. Can you help me pass the word? As Old Liu cradled a basin of rabbit heads in his arms, Shi Tian quickly spoke up.
Initially, the plan was to construct the boat for Kang Ziyu, but Kang Ziyu and Yun Wan'er had already revised their design three or four times, and it still wasn't finalized. So, Shi Tian decided to go ahead and build the Mini Light Boat first.
"Is this something you can't handle, Jun Ge?" Just as Old Liu was about to speak, Old Wen jumped in with a question.
"The Mini Light Boat is set to launch; normally, the Shipyard should be able to take care of all the paperwork! Shi Tian wouldn't come to them for help over something so trivial. Even if he wanted to expedite the process, Shi Ye and the Air Force could manage it without needing to approach them!"
"If they could handle it, I wouldn't have come here with such heavy gifts to trouble you!" Shi Tian's words immediately lit up the eyes of several old men. This must involve some black technology!
"How big is the boat? What kind of engine does it have?" The old men had lost interest in the rabbit heads on the table; they were now eager to learn what kind of black technology was on the Mini Light Boat that required Shi Tian to seek their assistance for the paperwork.
"It's a bit large—over three hundred feet long—with four steam turbines. In deep water, it should be able to reach a hundred knots without too much trouble; if the sea is calm, it might even go faster," Shi Tian said proudly.
Shi Tian was beaming with pride over the Mini Light Boat. He had invested heavily in this vessel.
For Shi Tian, this boat was not essential; without the Mini Light Boat, he still had other ships at his disposal. However, the power system on this boat was something that could change the world. If he didn't produce a few units, he would feel guilty for not making use of Rogue Software's goodwill.
"Steam turbines? Those are antiques! There's no way they could reach a hundred knots. A ship over a hundred meters long using steam turbines would be lucky to hit twenty knots," one of the old men remarked.
Given their experience, they wouldn't underestimate a ship just because it had steam turbines; rather, it was precisely because of those turbines that they valued this ship even more.
"Nuclear? Or is it Tokamak?" Old Kong asked as he set down his glass.
"Four steam turbines can drive a ship over a hundred meters at more than a hundred knots—what other engine could provide such power?"
"Indeed, it's powered by seawater; however, it's not following the Tokamak route." With a chuckle, Old Liu reached for another rabbit head and pushed the basin toward Shi Tian.
"It's powered by deuterium and tritium. While it's still unresolved in the laboratory, we're already applying it here," Shi Tian explained.
"We'll handle a hundred reactor permits for you!" Pouring a drink for Shi Tian himself, Old Kong began negotiating for benefits.
Regardless of whether Shi Tian agreed to these benefits or not, Old Kong would ensure that the paperwork for the Mini Light Boat got done. If not, he'd arrange for someone to steal the boat—what did he have to lose at his age?
Whoever possesses this technology will be on top of the world. Once controlled nuclear fusion is realized, who will still buy oil?
"One set!" Hearing Old Kong's audacious demand made Shi Tian nearly spit out his drink. This old man had quite an appetite!
"A hundred sets? Do you think this is a tractor? You really dare to ask for that much!"
"Is there such a thing as haggling like this?" Rolling his eyes at Shi Tian, Old Kong felt pleased; if Shi Tian could offer one set, then there was room for negotiation—it was just a matter of adjusting quantities.
"You're asking for an outrageous price; why can't I negotiate down?" The old man exclaimed incredulously. "And you want one hundred sets right off the bat?"
This item, Shi Tian thought, still holds some value if brought out now. However, if it continues to drop, it will lose its worth. After the eighteenth iteration, it will surely break through to a new level. It seems they are close to that breakthrough; any day now, a finished product might emerge.
Once a finished product is released, no matter how advanced his items are, they won't be worth as much as something that has made that leap from zero to one. They need to produce a few sets to let people know this item is commercially viable and secure the name for themselves!
One set wouldn't be enough; they couldn't even build a single boat with that. How about fifty sets? Lighting a cigarette, Old Wen began to test Shi Tian's limits.
Two sets!
Twenty-five sets!
Four sets!
Ten sets!
Deal!
How many sets are on the Mini Light Boat? The three old men were already secretly delighted at being able to produce ten sets now; in the future, there would surely be more. Now they needed to think about how to get the Blueprint.
There are two sets on the Mini Light Boat. Once all the paperwork is done, I'll take you to the Atlantic to fish for Bluefin Tuna!
For deep-sea sailing, two sets are standard equipment; one serves as a backup because if something goes wrong, it could be dangerous. Calling for rescue could take days.
Stay put and don't wander around aimlessly! After reminding Shi Tianyi, Old Kong stood up to call Shi Ye.
Tian Ge, didn't you say there are still many materials you haven't gathered? Why not let the old man help you find them? Otherwise, it might delay his work, which wouldn't be good! Just after finishing his thought, Kang Ziyu placed the rabbit head he was holding onto the plate and squinted his eyes as he reminded them.
