Soon enough, new troubles emerged.
Morning meeting.
Wang Lan walked into the conference room with a triumphant air.
“Everyone, let me introduce someone special.”
Standing beside her was a man.
Dressed in a tailored suit, he was tall and robust, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. Though his appearance was decent, there was an air of darkness about him. “This is our company’s newly recruited technical expert, Eric.”
“He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which makes him my university alumnus. He has worked in Silicon Valley for many years, focusing primarily on artificial intelligence, and has made significant contributions.”
“Starting today, we will establish Technical Team Two, and Eric will be in charge of our Technical Team Two’s operations while also overseeing the company’s technological reforms.”
“Alright, Eric, please say a few words!”
Lin Xia's gaze sharpened.
Technical Team Two?
Was this meant to compete with her? Or was it simply to sideline her?
Eric adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses.
His gaze swept over the crowd.

“I believe that under my leadership, the company’s technical capabilities will surely reach new heights.”
There was a hint of disdain in his eyes.
Lin Xia scoffed inwardly.
Another parachute hire.
After the meeting concluded, Eric immediately began his so-called “reforms.”
“I believe there are serious issues with the current structure; even if we develop something, the results won’t be satisfactory.”
"We need to introduce the latest development framework. This is the newest architecture available on foreign open-source websites, and I believe it far exceeds the technology framework you are currently using."
"My idea is to completely restructure the existing system."
The colleagues in the tech department exchanged glances.
Xiao Zhang couldn't help but speak up.
"Director Ai, our current system is running very stably."
Eric arrogantly interrupted.
"Stability does not equate to advancement."
"Your thinking is too conservative. It's time to open your eyes to the world. Keeping your eyes closed will only lead to falling behind, and being behind means facing consequences."
"Just look at how Silicon Valley operates."
Lin Xia frowned.
These so-called "reforms" were nothing but empty talk.
They completely disregarded the actual situation. The solutions from Silicon Valley relied on massive computing power for continuous iteration. In the current climate of trade wars and restrictions, computing power is precisely the shortcoming faced by all Chinese companies. The best approach is to use a brand-new model to solve the computing power issue and achieve a leapfrog advantage, rather than adopting Silicon Valley's solutions and competing with them on their own turf.
But Eric's "reform" continued.
He assigned Lin Xia's team a large amount of repetitive work.
"These foundational codes need to be rewritten."
"According to my standards."
"The acceptance check will be next week."
Team members grumbled in discontent.
"Boss, this work is completely meaningless."
"It's just wasting time."
"Our current conditions simply cannot allow us to complete the new architecture in a timely manner."
"Just bear with it for now and see what tricks he wants to play," Lin Xia reassured.
Two weeks later.
Eric found the "breakthrough." "Supervisor Lin, your team's work efficiency is too low."
"The project is seriously behind schedule."
"According to the regulations, the entire team's performance bonuses will be deducted."
Lin Xia looked at him coldly.
"Our main focus has been consumed by your 'reforms.'"
"How could we possibly complete the core project on time?"
"In fact, according to the company's established goals, our original plan was sufficient to meet those targets."
Eric flashed a victorious smile.
"This is your problem."
"Now that I am in charge of the reforms, the rules I set are the rules."
