After the task is accomplished, I will give you a Nine-Turn Immortal Pill, which will allow you to ascend during the day and become a celestial being!
The elixir doesn’t matter; just hurry and send someone to me.
Alright, alright.
The morning sunlight warmed his face as Chen Xuan groggily woke up.
Upon opening his eyes, he instinctively glanced around, then chuckled while rubbing his forehead.
It was such a bizarre dream.
A Celestial Messenger named Zhe Yi had appeared in his dream, claiming he needed to imprison some demon criminals on his farm.
These demons were bound by restrictions and could be commanded by Chen Xuan within the confines of the farm; with just a thought, he could decide their fate!
For a year, after the task was completed, he would receive a Nine-Turn Immortal Pill that would allow him to ascend during the day.
Chen Xuan didn’t care much for elixirs at the moment.
Right now, his farm was in dire need of workers; recruiting talent was crucial. That’s why he had agreed to Zhe Yi’s request in the dream and urged him to send someone over quickly.
As he opened his eyes, he realized it was already morning.
It seems that my recent recruitment efforts have driven me to madness.
Chen Xuan chuckled and got out of bed, pushing open the door.
Before him lay ten acres of watermelon fields, lush and green.
A year ago, after graduating from university, Chen Xuan returned to his hometown in Chen Family Village and contracted about ten acres of land, becoming a small farm owner.
The watermelon field was Chen Xuan's first Yao Zuo, and it was about to reach maturity. With over ten acres of land, calculating at around four thousand pounds of watermelon per acre, there would be at least eighty thousand pounds in total. Harvesting eighty thousand pounds of watermelon was a monumental task.
For the past few days, Chen Xuan had been running to the labor market in Changfeng County, hoping to recruit a few workers. Unfortunately, it was peak season for labor, and with the average pay he offered, he hadn’t managed to hire anyone after several days of searching. As he watched the watermelons nearing widespread ripeness, his anxiety grew, leading to the bizarre conversation he had just experienced in his dream.
Shaking his head, Chen Xuan dismissed the absurd dream from his mind. After a quick wash-up, he started his tricycle, preparing to head to Changfeng County. Time was running out; he needed to find workers quickly. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to harvest all those watermelons by himself.
The tricycle roared to life as Chen Xuan closed the door of the wooden house behind him. Turning around, he saw a shy and honest-looking chubby man standing in front of him. The man had a comical appearance with a round head and a plump body. From a distance, he resembled a snowman with extremely disproportionate features.
At that moment, the chubby man nervously fiddled with the hem of his clothes while watching Chen Xuan carefully.
"Can I help you?" Chen Xuan asked tentatively.
The chubby man nodded. "Are you the owner of this farm?"
"That's me!" Chen Xuan replied openly, curious. "Are you here to buy watermelons?"
"No," the man shook his head and whispered, "I was sent down by the Celestial Messenger. He told me to stay here and wait for your instructions."
"The Celestial Messenger?"
Chen Xuan couldn't help but laugh. "Come on, buddy, you’ve been reading too many novels."
Suddenly, Chen Xuan's smile froze as he stared wide-eyed at the chubby man. After a moment of hesitation, he cautiously asked, "Are you the demon that the Celestial Messenger is supposed to imprison?"
"Yes!" The man's eyes lit up as he nodded vigorously. "That's me! You finally found me!"
"This sounds a bit strange," Chen Xuan mumbled to himself as he sized up the chubby man. After a long look, he couldn't figure out how this guy resembled a demon.
Curiosity got the better of him. "Hey, what kind of demon are you? I can't tell."
"I'm the Watermelon Demon!" the chubby man replied quickly, then lowered his head in disappointment, mumbling, "I've only been cultivating for three hundred years, so I barely count as a demon in the Demon Realm. You didn't notice my demonic aura was normal?"
"Watermelon Demon?" Chen Xuan chuckled. "So what do you do in the Demon Realm?"
"Mostly, I grow watermelons for the Demon King. Occasionally, I fight enemies, but my strength isn't that impressive. The first time I went into battle, I was captured by the celestial army."
The chubby man's face turned slightly red, seemingly embarrassed to mention his lack of strength.
"Growing watermelons?" Chen Xuan felt a spark of interest. After all, he had ten acres of watermelon fields!
If this Watermelon Demon really had some skills, he could help cultivate his watermelons in the future! Unfortunately, it was too late for this year; the watermelons were almost ripe.
Chen Xuan sighed regretfully. He had strong acceptance abilities and chatted with the Watermelon Demon for a while to deepen their bond.
Noticing that it was about time, Chen Xuan hopped into his vehicle and said, "You stay here for a bit; I'm going out."
"Oh, okay!" the Watermelon Demon nodded eagerly.
He looked around and then at the wooden house by the watermelon field, asking, "Master, what should I do?"
"What to do?" Chen Xuan revved the engine and shot out. "Just do whatever you like; that's fine."
"Whatever I like?" The Watermelon Demon tilted his head in thought, and suddenly a bright smile spread across his round face.
"My favorite thing is growing watermelons!"
