Chen Xuan was taken aback.
Old Xin chuckled, seemingly pleased with Chen Xuan's dazed expression. He smiled modestly and said, "This bowl is the Qiankun Bowl, capable of holding the Five Lakes and Four Seas. As for this lake, it is the Holy Spirit Lake, the dwelling place of the Demon Emperor. Brother Chen, remember this: unless absolutely necessary, do not approach this place and disturb this esteemed being!"
As he spoke, Old Xin respectfully bowed to the vast lake before them.
Taking a deep breath, Chen Xuan pressed on with his questions. "So what was the solution you mentioned earlier?"
"Brother Chen, you are unaware of Jin Shan!" Old Xin shook his head with a smile, expressing his thoughts. "The Holy Spirit Lake naturally nurtures a Lingquan Spring. The water here is imbued with Spiritual Energy, which is extremely beneficial for the growth of all living things. As long as you irrigate your land with this lake water, it will surely regain its vitality!"
"Really?" Chen Xuan exclaimed in delight.
"Of course it's true! I wouldn't lie to you!" Old Xin grinned.
"That's fantastic!" Chen Xuan clenched his fists in excitement, never expecting that the problem that had troubled him for days would be resolved so easily.
Looking at the barren land before him, Chen Xuan couldn't wait to get started.
Old Xin, perceptive as ever, noticed that Chen Xuan's thoughts were entirely focused on his plans. After exchanging a few casual words with him, he took his leave.
Once Old Xin departed, the Watermelon Demon and Jin Xiong soon appeared.
"You arrived just in time; I was about to call for you!" Chen Xuan greeted the two demons cheerfully.
Jin Xiong wore a serious expression as he gazed silently at the distant Holy Spirit Lake.
Chen Xuan patted Jin Xiong on the shoulder and said with a smile, "This is where the Celestial Messenger has just been settled; there’s a powerful demon inside. Oh right, this lake is the Holy Spirit Lake; you should know about it, right?"
"Of course I know!" Jin Xiong nodded. The great emperor from the Celestial Realm, Hou Zhuang Garden Pond, was renowned throughout the realm for the Holy Spirit Lake; how could he not be aware?
However, he hadn’t expected that such an emperor would use this place to house a demon!
As he looked at the calm and expansive Holy Spirit Lake and recalled various legends surrounding it from the Celestial Realm...
Jin Xiong sighed, "It's a pity we can't cultivate here; it's a waste of this Spiritual Energy."
"What Spiritual Energy?" the Watermelon Demon asked, looking around in confusion.
"You've only been cultivating for three hundred years; you're not sensitive enough to the Spiritual Energy yet, so stop pretending!" Jin Xiong said, grabbing the Watermelon Demon by the neck and casually tossing him aside before striding toward the wooden house.
Before long, Jin Xiong returned with several large barrels.
The next steps were straightforward. With the Holy Spirit Lake Water in hand and a method to resolve their predicament, Chen Xuan didn't want to waste any time. He immediately got to work with the two demons, working through the night.
Carrying the large barrels to the lake, they filled them up and then made their way to the Barren Land, pouring the water inch by inch onto the dry soil.
Jin Xiong was incredibly strong, easily carrying two barrels at once. Meanwhile, Chen Xuan and the Watermelon Demon struggled together with one barrel, barely keeping up with Jin Xiong's pace.
After a grueling night of hard work, primarily thanks to Jin Xiong's efforts, they finally managed to water the entire expanse of the Barren Land just as dawn broke.
It was an enormous amount of water used. Yet, surprisingly, the vast surface of the lake showed no signs of decrease, leaving Chen Xuan extremely curious about just how large this so-called Holy Spirit Lake really was.
Exhausted after a night of labor, the trio tossed down their barrels and hurried back to the wooden house for some much-needed sleep.
At that moment, unbeknownst to them, seeds of Ryegrass were vigorously pushing their way up through the soil.
Before long, a blanket of tender green shoots covered the vast land. The Barren Land was coming back to life.
