As night fell around seven o'clock, the dim light cast a shadow over the surroundings. Suddenly, a series of intense mooing sounds erupted from the cattle shed.
Jin Deyi was overjoyed; he hurriedly opened the door and rushed inside, followed closely by Chen Xuan. They quickly arrived at the birthing area.
There lay a cow, weak and sprawled on a messy pile of hay, occasionally extending its tongue to lick a small blue calf. The Azure Calf was wet all over, looking small and adorably clumsy, its large eyes curiously fixed on Chen Xuan and Jin.
Jin stepped forward confidently, running his hand over the calf. He grinned widely, "No wonder it's the offspring of a great emperor; this one's talent is astonishing. In no time, it will be able to cultivate alongside me."
Moo! The Azure Calf let out a low grunt and wobbled to its feet. Seeing this, Jin couldn't help but burst into laughter. "It seems this little calf already recognizes my greatness; it wants to get close to me."
With that, Jin extended his right hand. The Azure Calf swayed over, glanced up at Jin, then continued to wobble towards Chen Xuan.
Jin was taken aback. Chen Xuan couldn't help but chuckle. He reached out his right hand, and the Azure Calf joyfully began to lick his palm.
This is impossible! Jin felt wronged to the point of tears. How could a mere mortal be more appealing than me, the mighty demon king? This cannot be!
Coughing lightly, he thought perhaps he had some charm after all! Chen Xuan laughed heartily, winking at Jin Deyi.
Jin hung his head in disappointment. Chen Xuan chuckled as he squatted down to observe the Azure Calf before him. The calf was damp and carried a faint fishy scent; getting closer, Chen Xuan could even see the tiny blood vessels running along its body.
Regarding the extraordinary talent that Jin mentioned, Chen Xuan saw nothing of the sort.
"Little guy, you need to grow up quickly," Chen Xuan said, patting the little calf on the head.
"Moo."
The calf happily called out, affectionately nudging Chen Xuan with its head.
"What is it saying?" Chen Xuan asked.
Jin pouted, annoyed. "It says you should give it a name."
A name?
Chen Xuan chuckled, thinking that it was no wonder Jin referred to this calf as having the demeanor of a great emperor; it even knew to ask for a name.
What should it be called?
Chen Xuan looked at the Azure Calf, pondered for a moment, and then smiled. "How about we call you Qing Xuan?"
"Qing Xuan?"
The Azure Calf blinked its big eyes in surprise, then happily mooed in response.
It says it really likes this name, Jin translated.
"That's good to hear."
Chen Xuan gently stroked the little calf's head.
After spending some more time in the Cattle Shed, Chen Xuan and Jin finally left.
Qing Xuan watched them depart with a reluctant sound.
Jin turned back and glared. "You can't come out yet; stay here and behave. If you dare to come out, I'll break your legs."
As she spoke, her muscular chest heaved dramatically.
"Moo!"
Qing Xuan hurriedly hid behind the Cow in fright.
"Hmph!"
Jin held her head high with pride.
A night passed without incident.
Since the day Qing Xuan had left, Jin had been visiting Cattle Shed frequently, holding Qing Xuan in high regard.
After four days, Qing Xuan was finally able to leave Cattle Shed and joyfully ran around.
At this moment, Jin, known as Dali Niu Mo, finally smiled with satisfaction and began to take the next steps.
He was determined to nurture this promising Qing Xuan with the potential of a great emperor!
