The eight cattle grazed on the grass, occasionally swatting at flies with their tails in a leisurely manner. These cows adapted to their new environment faster than Chen Xuan had anticipated.
Currently, there were no fences around Chen Xuan Farm, and he worried that the cows might wander off. However, contrary to his concerns, the cows were calm; they spent their days grazing and returned to the cattle shed on their own each evening, requiring no extra effort from Chen Xuan. He speculated that Jin Xiong had mastered a skill similar to that of the Watermelon Demon, enabling him to communicate with the cows and keep them so obedient.
Chen Xuan felt envious of Jin Xiong and the Watermelon Demon for their abilities. If only he could do the same, many of his problems would be easily solved.
A few days later, Qing Xuan was able to run around playfully. At this point, Jin Xiong began his next course of action. The farm covered a large area, bordered by mountains and forests to the east and south. The dense woods were thriving and often frequented by wild animals.
When Chen Xuan was a child, villagers from Chen Family Village frequently went into the mountains to hunt beasts, sometimes bringing back wild boars if luck was on their side. However, as more people left for work in the cities, fewer ventured into the woods. Over the years, the forest had visibly thickened.
Jin Xiong arrived at the boundary where the farm met the forest. This was his limit; without Chen Xuan's permission, he could not step even half a step beyond the farm. He crouched at the border, placing his palm on the ground and closing his eyes as if sensing something.
After a while, a sneaky brown wild boar appeared before Jin Xiong, nuzzling him affectionately.
Jin Xiong couldn't help but laugh and scold it playfully: "You little beast! You haven't done anything for me yet you're already thinking about benefits! If you behave well, I might just let you stay on this farm; it's better than being in the forest."
The wild boar nodded happily in response. Jin Xiong chuckled and patted its forehead before it quickly turned and scampered away.
About an hour later, Wild Boar placed several plants in front of Jin Xiong. Jin Xiong picked them up casually, examined them, and smiled with satisfaction. "This is it, keep going."
Wild Boar happily ran off. For several days, Wild Boar gathered a pile of plants for Jin Xiong. Jin Xiong nodded and got up to leave.
He found Chen Xuan and tossed the pile of plants to him, saying earnestly, "My lord, I hope you can help me collect some of these plants."
Chen Xuan looked at the plants on the ground; they were all common varieties—some wild grasses, some medicinal herbs, and some leaves. He didn’t understand what use these items could have. However, since Jin Xiong needed them, there must be a reason behind it.
After a moment of thought, Chen Xuan finally nodded in agreement. Soon, he had collected a mountain of plants for Jin Xiong.
Jin Xiong rubbed his hands together in excitement. He brought over a mortar and pestle, organized the mountain of herbs, and began grinding them into powder one by one.
In the end, Jin Xiong produced three large sacks of powder from the mountain of plants, along with a separate small sack. Chen Xuan watched closely throughout the process. He could tell that Jin Xiong had put special care and attention into grinding the contents of that small sack; even the variety of plants included was particularly meticulous.
