Chen Xuan was unaware of the happenings online as he focused on driving towards the Fruit Tree Trading Market. After more than half an hour, he arrived at the bustling market. It was peak time, and the large space was filled with a throng of people.
Finding a parking spot, Chen Xuan entered the Fruit Tree Trading Market. This market in Changfeng County had been established for over a decade, offering a wide variety of fruit trees for sale. Even if a specific tree wasn’t available on-site, customers could place a deposit and have it delivered to their doorstep in a few days.
Blending into the crowd, Chen Xuan curiously surveyed his surroundings. Shops lined the roadside, showcasing various saplings of fruit trees at their entrances. Citrus, Xiang You, Yangmei, pears, apples, peaches, and loquats were all readily visible.
Instead of rushing to make a selection, Chen Xuan leisurely strolled through the Fruit Tree Market. After walking several dozen steps, he came upon a dedicated trading area that had only recently been developed for selling certain types of fruit saplings.
Looking around, he saw an abundance of grape, kiwi, and strawberry saplings neatly arranged. He even spotted banana and cherry saplings. However, the business here was noticeably slower compared to the bustling fruit tree section ahead. The reason was simple: the fruit trees in front required less technical expertise and had a larger market with quicker returns on investment. In contrast, the saplings in this area demanded higher technical knowledge and greater investment; any fluctuations in market demand could lead to significant losses.
A few years ago, someone who invested in cherry trees suffered heavy losses amounting to millions and fled to another province; they hadn’t dared return since.
After circling this area once, Chen Xuan noted that most of the shops were doing average business. He had marked a triangular plot designated for his orchard, which spanned over fifty acres. Such a large piece of land would allow him to plant plenty of fruit trees without restraint.
Chen Xuan returned to the area for fruit tree trading. This time, he carefully inspected each shop, occasionally asking the shop owners about their prices. After circling around, Chen Xuan finally found a store that satisfied him, and he had a good idea of the prices.
"How much do you sell your fruit trees for? I need some apples, plums, apricots, citrus, pomelo, and waxberries," Chen Xuan inquired at the shop he liked.
"How many do you want?" The shop owner was a dark-skinned man in his thirties. Seeing the young Chen Xuan approach to ask about prices, he lazily lounged in his chair.
Chen Xuan pondered for a moment. "For one acre of land, you can generally plant around forty to sixty trees. For fifty acres, I’ll give you the minimum estimate."
"About a thousand trees, right?"
"What?" The dark-skinned owner was taken aback, his nonchalant expression vanishing instantly. He thought he must have misheard. After confirming several times that Chen Xuan indeed wanted a thousand trees, he excitedly jumped up from his chair.
He enthusiastically pulled Chen Xuan inside to sit down and said with a smile, "Brother, what should I call you?"
"Just call me Chen."
"Boss Chen, you truly are a promising young man!" The owner cheerfully offered Chen Xuan a cigarette, but Chen Xuan politely declined.
"Let’s discuss business first," Chen Xuan said.
The owner straightened up, taking out a calculator and looking at Chen Xuan expectantly. "What quality are you looking for? One-year-old or two-year-old?"
"For over fifty acres of land, I need more than a thousand fruit seedlings."
Chen Xuan originally planned to buy some seedlings and gradually plant them himself so that they could start generating economic benefits in a few years. However, due to a series of recent events at the farm and the miraculous effects of the Holy Spirit Lake water...
