The scene left the surrounding merchants shaking their heads and chuckling:
"This boss is in trouble; he’s going to get scolded later!"
"Right? Ten dollars for an egg! How could he even think of that? We’re all sellers; don’t we know how much eggs cost?"
"Forget it, let’s just call the police!"
One merchant shook his head, pulled out his phone, and was about to call the police when suddenly, Aunt Zhang's furious shout rang out:
"Everyone, stop right there! I found this first! I’m buying first! Boss, give me a hundred eggs!"
"I want a hundred too!"
"I need fifty for my precious grandson!"
"I’ll take fifty as well; my son is getting married soon, and he needs to replenish his strength!"
"I’ll take twenty for my partner's dinner tonight!"
"Are you trying to kill your partner with that?"
A dozen elderly women surrounded the egg seller, waving cash and demanding to buy eggs with fierce determination.
Several bold women, seeing the boss flustered, took matters into their own hands, grabbing plastic bags and starting to pack eggs themselves.
Soon enough, other women followed suit, frantically stuffing items into their bags.
The merchants around were left dumbfounded by this scene.
They exchanged glances, unable to believe what they were witnessing.
One merchant hesitated: "Am I seeing things? They’re fighting to buy eggs at ten dollars each? Are the elderly really willing to spend money like this now?"
"I haven’t heard anything about pensions increasing recently!"
"Could it be a gimmick?"
At the entrance of the Agricultural Trade Market stood seven or eight merchants, all frowning and staring blankly at the chaotic scene of egg grabbing not far away, finding it utterly absurd.
A curious passerby also thought it was ridiculous. He leaned in closer and whispered, "Auntie, you’re still buying these eggs at ten dollars each?"
With that, an elderly woman turned her head sharply in response—it was Aunt Zhang.
At that moment, Aunt Zhang was sweating profusely as she scrambled for eggs. She turned around and saw a Young Man standing behind her, seemingly puzzled by her actions.
With a cold smirk, Aunt Zhang tightly clutched a large bag of eggs in her right hand and pulled out half of a Boiled Egg from her pocket with her left, offering it to the young man.
"Just take a bite and you'll understand."
"Eat one?" The Young Man hesitated as he looked at the obviously bitten half egg in front of him. He thought to himself that he wouldn't eat something someone else had already touched!
But watching the chaotic scene before him, the Young Man hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and took a bite of the egg.
Whoosh!
His eyes instantly lit up!
Aunt Zhang beamed with pride. "Young man, now do you see why I buy eggs from this vendor?"
"Yes!" The Young Man nodded vigorously. He watched the frenzied scene unfold before him, his mind racing. Suddenly, he charged into the crowd, head down, and began to frantically snatch up eggs!
"What a shame! This young man is actually competing with the elderly for eggs!"
"Someone's stealing my eggs! Aren't you going to do something about it, boss?"
"You little brat, I know your mother! Stop right now and get out!"
"Enough talk! Hurry up and grab them; there aren't many left!"
The old women chattered away while their hands moved swiftly, quickly emptying the cart of eggs.
This scene left nearby vendors and pedestrians dumbfounded; they could hardly believe what they were witnessing.
The next day, the egg vendor returned to the Agricultural Trade Market once again.
A merchant who had been waiting patiently saw the vendor arrive and immediately grabbed a few eggs from his cart. After making them into Boiled Eggs and taking a bite, his eyes widened in surprise.
In less than ten minutes, Aunt Zhang returned with an even larger group of elderly women.
Three days later...
The Silver Egg ignited a sensation throughout Jianghe City!
