Chen Xuan was taken aback to see Qing Yao sitting atop a tree!
Pouting, Qing Yao looked displeased. "Where have you been these past few days? I haven't seen you at all!"
Chen Xuan was surprised. "Where did you get that phone? How do you have my WeChat?"
"I found it," she replied.
Qing Yao continued to pout, her hair swaying in the night breeze. "Of course, your mom gave me your WeChat ID. How can you be so clueless! Ugh! You have no idea how many people have been coming to the Farm lately, taking pictures at my feet every day. It's driving me crazy! Can you please close the Farm and not open it again?"
With a frown, Qing Yao vented her frustrations to Chen Xuan.
After spending some time together, Qing Yao and Chen Xuan had grown familiar with each other. Although she still had her sharp tongue when they met, their relationship had significantly improved from their initial awkwardness. Given the unique nature of the Farm, Chen Xuan had surprisingly become one of Qing Yao's closest friends.
Whenever she had free time, Qing Yao liked to hang around Chen Xuan, watching him tinker with various things. However, as soon as someone else arrived, she would vanish without a trace.
At that moment, seeing Qing Yao looking unhappy brought Chen Xuan immense joy.
"Do you have a day when you're annoyed too?" he asked suddenly, feeling energized. He hadn't expected that the recent surge in popularity at the Farm would make this sharp-tongued girl unhappy.
This was fantastic news! Little did he know how much trouble Qing Yao had caused him and Jin Xiong before! Just in these few days...
Every time Chen Xuan tinkered with something, Qing Yao liked to rest her chin on her hand and squat nearby, mocking him. She belittled Chen Xuan to the point of making him feel utterly useless!
Now, finally, it was time for retribution!
Chen Xuan was overjoyed. He feigned difficulty, saying, "I can't do that! As a mere mortal, I rely on this Farm for my livelihood. How could I possibly shut it down? Don't you agree?"
Qing Yao frowned, feeling wronged. "If I hadn't lost my fortune, I could easily provide for you with just one of my possessions."
Well, that's what happens when you're down on your luck! Chen Xuan teased Qing Yao, internally reveling in the moment. He almost wanted to take a screenshot and send it to Jin Xiong for a good laugh.
"Ugh, I'll be there," she said irritably.
With that, Qing Yao stood up and lightly tapped her foot on the treetop, astonishingly taking flight. She circled around the towering tree leisurely before finally settling on a branch.
Pouting, she asked, "So when are you coming? There’s not a single person here to talk to."
"In a few days," Chen Xuan replied. "You could reach out to Jin Xiong or someone else."
"Forget it. A bunch of brutes who don’t understand anything," Qing Yao said, resting her chin in her hand and gazing listlessly at the ground.
Suddenly, she asked, "What are you doing out there? Can't you come sooner?"
"I can't," Chen Xuan shook his head with a smile and briefly explained what he was currently working on. "I won't be able to come until this project is finished."
"Oh," Qing Yao's eyes suddenly lit up with excitement. "If I can solve your problem, can you come earlier?"
Chen Xuan's heart skipped a beat as he looked at Qing Yao in surprise. "You’re not trying to trick me, are you?"
"How could that be!" Qing Yao replied, her expression one of indignation as she waved her small fist in the air. "This question is a piece of cake for me, you know?"
"Hmph! Just wait, I’ll make sure to surprise you!" With that, Qing Yao ended the video call.
Chen Xuan shook his head, treating Qing Yao's behavior as just a childish tantrum. He didn’t pay it much mind and, after making a quick phone call to Zhang Cuifang, soon fell into a deep sleep.
