A gaunt, middle-aged man, looking like a junkie, hurriedly emerged from the Chicken Coop. He was holding a completely still San Huang Chicken in his hand. A sickly smile spread across his face as he excitedly approached the open space in front of the Chicken Coop.
A handsome young man with an outstanding demeanor slowly rose to his feet. He first frowned and glanced at the San Huang Chicken in the middle-aged man's hand. After a long moment of contemplation, he reluctantly nodded, as if agreeing to something.
What happened next shattered Ma Guolong's worldview. The emaciated middle-aged man, upon receiving the young man's approval, excitedly clenched his fist and, right in front of everyone, bit into the neck of the San Huang Chicken.
Gulping sounds echoed as, within moments, blood filled the man's mouth. With a look of satisfaction, he discarded the San Huang Chicken.
This scene sent chills down Ma Guolong and the others' spines, causing cold sweat to bead on their backs. Buffy was particularly terrified, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he stammered, "Ma! Do you think this is what they call a vampire?"
A vampire? Ma Guolong couldn't help but chuckle; he was a staunch atheist who had received years of scientific education. How could he believe in something as absurd as vampires existing in this world?
Shaking his head, Ma Guolong assured Buffy, "Don't worry, Buffy. It's definitely not a vampire!"
"What is it then?" Buffy asked, trembling with fear.
What is this? Ma Guolong furrowed his brow, unsure of what the earlier person's actions truly represented. He stood there in a daze for a moment, then suddenly raised his brow and strode forward with determination.
"Stop!" Buffy reached out, wanting to halt Ma Guolong, but seeing his resolute steps, the four foreigners exchanged glances and, gritting their teeth, joined hands and followed him.
"Sir, it seems someone is coming?" Jin Xiong was the first to notice the approaching figures and spoke up to Chen Xuan.
"Hmm?" Chen Xuan looked up in surprise, only to see five elderly men with white hair making their way toward him.
Seeing the five old men, Chen Xuan instinctively thought they were tourists visiting Qing Xuan Farm. As the farm's reputation grew, he had noticed an increasing number of elderly visitors lately.
He wasn't too surprised. Slowly rising to his feet, he greeted them with a warm smile. "You must be here to visit the farm, right? Feel free to look around; there's no charge."
After a pause, he pointed at the baskets of fruits and eggs in front of him. "However, these do cost money."
Chen Xuan's beaming smile put Ma Guolong and the others at ease. Stealing a nervous glance at Ye Xiao standing behind Chen Xuan, Ma Guolong took a deep breath and was about to speak when he suddenly froze.
Not far from him, in the direction of the cattle shed, he saw a figure dressed in clothing quickly crawling on the ground. From its appearance, it looked like a human being that had been tamed.
This! Ma Guolong shuddered all over as memories of a notorious incident from years ago abroad flooded back to him.
The incident was about a seemingly warm-hearted and kind Farm Owner who had imprisoned over a dozen young girls on his farm, subjecting them to various forms of psychological torment. This ultimately led to the girls losing their humanity and becoming slaves in a horrific event.
Memories of the past flooded Ma Guolong's mind, causing him to break into a cold sweat that soaked his entire body. He stiffly raised his head to look at the warmly smiling Chen Xuan in front of him, instinctively taking a step back.
