The Strange Fish, about the size of a palm, was black on one side and white on the other. Its appearance resembled a miniature whale, but what made it even more peculiar was the pair of legs and arms sprouting from its belly.
At that moment, the Strange Fish leaped out of the puddle, playfully flailing its limbs as if it were disgusted by the dirty water it had just been in. As it continued to slap its body, it suddenly sensed something was off. It looked up sharply and saw four faces peering at it, each adorned with a large nose, curiously observing its every move.
Whoosh! The Strange Fish dove back into the puddle with a splash. After a moment, it cautiously emerged, revealing a pair of small eyes that trembled as they gazed at the outside world.
Outside the puddle, Chen Xuan and his three companions squatted down, resting their chins on their hands as they contemplated the Strange Fish within the water.
Jin Xiong smacked his lips and asked, "Is it from the Celestial Realm or the Demon Realm?"
Ye Xiao shrugged, "It doesn't seem to have much meat on it!"
Watermelon Demon shook his head, "It's too small; it can't do much."
The four of them nodded in agreement, clearly unimpressed with the Strange Fish. Meanwhile, the Strange Fish trembled even more in fear.
Suddenly, it jumped out of the puddle again and began to bow frantically towards Chen Xuan, who had the most distinguished presence among the four.
"Sir! Sir! Please give me a chance to live; I’m just passing through!" The trembling body pleaded with a desperate tone. It was truly heart-wrenching to hear, bringing tears to the eyes of those who listened.
Chen Xuan couldn't help but chuckle. "You’re quite the interesting fish, making it sound like we’re bullying you. Now, tell me, what’s your story? I’ve never met a talking fish before."
Hearing Chen Xuan's lighthearted inquiry, the Strange Fish grinned, rubbing its fins together in a flattering manner. "Sir, I’m just an ordinary fish from the Demon Realm. Nothing particularly special about me or my background. Just a very common fish, really. Could you possibly let me go?"
The Strange Fish chattered on and on.
Chen Xuan replied casually, "Jin Xiong."
"Yes, my lord!" Jin Xiong grinned widely as he raised a thick wooden club. "To be honest, I’m a legendary beast king, and I’ve never seen a fish like you before!"
Looking at Jin Xiong's menacing grin and the club held high, the Strange Fish’s face fell. "Sir! I swear! I’m telling the truth! I don’t come from the Immortal or Demon realms; I come from the Chaotic Sea."
"The Chaotic Sea?" Chen Xuan raised an eyebrow; that place sounded impressive and formidable.
He turned to Jin Xiong. "What’s the Chaotic Sea all about?"
Jin Xiong’s expression grew serious as he explained, "The Chaotic Sea lies between the Immortal Realm and the Demon Realm; it’s an extremely dangerous area. It’s said that any sea beast from there is at least at the level of a beast king. Ancient legends even speak of terrifying beings that can devour Xian Di."
The Strange Fish hurriedly interjected with a nervous laugh, "Legends are just legends!"
"Damn it! You little sneak, timid as a mouse, and you come from the Chaotic Sea?"
Ye Xiao felt that Strange Fish was deceiving him. He patted Strange Fish on the head and demanded, "Speak up, what’s your name?"
Strange Fish hurriedly replied, "I don’t have a name, but they all call me Kun."
Thud.
Ye Xiao's legs went weak, and he knelt down, his face changing drastically. "Big brother, I didn’t mean to touch your head just now."
Seeing this reaction, Strange Fish quickly bowed his head and said, "Sir! Please get up! It’s nothing, really!"
"Big brother, please don’t hold it against me!"
"Sir, I promise I won’t do it again! Please get up!"
