Soon, the other half of the beef, along with the offal, was brought in. The cow's stomach, intestines, and some lymph nodes were tossed on the ground to be cleaned up later for the dogs. Andrei was slicing the beef at the counter while Xu Li assisted him. As for aging the meat, that was out of the question; in this weather without a freezer, it would start to smell by the next day. 0

"Cut some tenderloin, Dad. Can we have Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin tomorrow?" 0

Andrei nodded and sliced off a large piece, estimating it to weigh around three to four pounds. "Is that enough?" 0

"That’s plenty." 0

He set the tenderloin aside and neatly arranged the other cuts of meat in the freezer. Once they finished organizing the beef, Andrei grabbed a hose and walked inside to rinse off the cutting board. Then he took a cigarette and headed into the tractor's storage area, closing the door behind him to help Natasha clean the stomach and intestines. 0

They cut everything into chunks and tossed them into a bucket, adding a few bowls of cornmeal mixed with water before pouring it into a large pot to stew. Andrei told Natasha to take a shower and rest while he kept an eye on the fire, slowly waiting. The way this kid changed his tune so easily made me increasingly suspicious; he must be trying to lull us into complacency before finding an opportunity to slip away. 0

Definitely! 0

The more Andrei thought about it, the more convinced he became. He couldn't help but snort: "Little Guy, let me show you what real experience looks like!" The flickering flames reflected his inner thoughts, making him appear somewhat sinister. 0

Dinner wasn’t particularly lavish—there were smoked sausages, Xun Yu, and Sour Cucumber alongside chilled Sprite with cucumbers and scrambled eggs with tomatoes. The noodles had already been rinsed in cold water; enjoying a bowl of cold noodles in this summer heat wasn’t too bad. 0

"Hey, these cucumbers are delicious!" 0

Anna happily munched on her cucumbers, her little mouth making popping sounds: "Crunch crunch crunch." 0

"Really?" 0

Andrei speared a slice and tasted it, raising an eyebrow and tilting his head: "It really is good—tangy and sweet." 0

"I learned this from those chefs at my previous hotel. They usually soaked them in red wine, but I think soda is better for summer." 0

"I can’t handle much alcohol." 0

He glanced at the large bottle of wine with trepidation as Andrei poured him a glass: "Just sip it slowly." 0

Andrei tilted his head back and downed a full glass of wine. He pinched a Sour Cucumber under his nose and took a bite: "Crunch crunch. Our village used to be all forests and wasteland thirty years ago." 0

The old villagers in the community had all retired from the same unit as him. They brought their families to respond to calls for development in the Far East. The house you’re standing in now was built by me and my brothers log by log. 0
