Eva pushed Anna's head aside and leaned in to sniff; indeed, there was a peculiar stench. The two sisters exchanged glances, their little faces immediately falling. The fruit was spoiled and inedible—had their trip been in vain? 0

"Is it really that bad? I don't smell anything," Xu Li scratched his head, looking at the sisters. "It smells quite nice to me, a bit like watermelon." 0

"Yes, yes! We were drawn here by that fragrance before," the sisters nodded happily at first, but then looked puzzled. "But why does it smell so bad to us? Like the smell of dung." 0

"Can I eat it then?" Xu Li asked the sisters. Just as Anna and Eva blinked and were about to respond, they noticed the odor becoming increasingly unbearable. They quickly scrambled out of the tree hollow and ran far away, while Xu Li felt the scent growing more enticing, intoxicating him. 0

Without realizing it, he pulled down the fruit. As soon as it detached from the stem, a torrent of bright red juice gushed out. He hurriedly brought his mouth close, ignoring the dirt on its surface, and began to gulp down the juice. As he drank, the exposed stem slowly retracted back into the soil and vanished. 0

"Sluurp! So sweet!" 0

On the way back, Xu Li happily munched on the fruit while the sisters kept a distance of at least eight zhang from him along with several Caucasian dogs. To them, Xu Li looked like a fool holding a pile of dung and claiming it was food! 0

The juice was thick and viscous, reminiscent of farm-fresh juice, warming him inside and making him feel comfortable all over. The fatigue he had felt earlier vanished completely. 0

The most astonishing part was that there were no seeds in the fruit. After swallowing the last bite, a mountain breeze blew through, dispersing the delightful aroma throughout the forest. The Caucasian dogs immediately surrounded Xu Li, with Da Hei barking twice at him. To Xu Li's ears, it sounded like a young man's deep voice: "Hey big fool, are you eating that dung?" 0

"How dare you insult me? You’re dead meat, Da Hei!" 0

As soon as Xu Li said this, he froze in place, staring blankly at Da Hei and then at the suddenly turned twins. He suddenly slapped himself on the cheek: "Who just spoke?" 0

Eva made a face at him: "Of course it was Da Hei! It asked if you’re not going to eat your dung." 0

Anna jumped up joyfully and clapped her hands at Xu Li: "Misha! You can understand what Da Hei is saying now!" 0

"So you guys were telling the truth all along!" 0

Xu Li finally believed everything the sisters had said. Excitedly, he rushed forward to hug Anna and spun her around twice before she pushed his face away in disgust: "Your breath stinks! Don’t come near me!" 0

"Hahaha! I’ll suffocate you!" 0

He deliberately blew air towards Anna, causing her to cover his mouth with her grimy hands in a panic. They playfully tussled for a while before separating. Eva stood off to the side waiting for them to finish before saying: "We should head back; I’m hungry." 0

"Let’s go home for dinner!" 0

He took Anna's hand and chased after Eva as the three of them playfully exited the forest. Meanwhile, that towering tree began to wither at an astonishing rate; its countless dry leaves scattered across the forest with each gust of wind, making a rustling sound that resembled weeping for its fallen companions. 0

When they returned hand in hand to their yard, Andrei happened to be tidying up farming tools with Natasha. Clearly, the old couple had just arrived home as well. Natasha didn’t say much; she wiped her face by the water basin before heading off to prepare dinner. However, Andrei’s eyes scanned over the three siblings' darkened faces and hands repeatedly. 0

He raised his hand and wiped it at Xu Li's mouth, then brought it to his nose and sniffed. His expression immediately turned sour. "What have you eaten?" 0
