"Dad, I don't want to go to school. I want to stay by your side." 0

The night was quiet in the yard. Xiong Da and the bear were treating themselves to a snack, sitting under the Apple Tree, picking up freshly fallen apples and stuffing them into their mouths. Zhuo Ya curled up in Xu Li's embrace, holding onto his sturdy neck and listening to the strong rhythm of his heartbeat. 0

Xu Li paused for a moment before gently patting his daughter's back. "You will have your own life. What does it mean to stay by your dad's side? One day, you'll meet a lucky guy, build a new family with him. If you stay with me, you'll end up as an old maid, and that would worry me even more." 0

"No! I just like being with you, Dad. I want to take care of you and Mom for the rest of my life. I don't like those boys; when they look at me, it makes me feel sick." 0

Zhuo Ya pouted as she spoke. Xu Li wasn't worried about his daughter being bullied; she could be quite fierce when she needed to be. 0

"Are you afraid of studying? Is that why you're saying this to make me happy?" Xu Li chuckled as he lightly patted her back again. Zhuo Ya wriggled in annoyance, then got up and glared at her smiling father, sticking out her little tongue and making a funny face before bouncing off into the house. 0

Xu Li was taken aback for a moment, then smiled as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. By the time he finished smoking, Anan had also come into the yard and sat beside him. "Thank you for your hospitality during this time, Brother Xu." 0

"What are you thanking me for? You're living in Irkutsk anyway. If anything happens with Peter, I won't be able to rush over; you'll have to help handle it." 0

Anan nodded. "That's only right." 0

Xu Li smiled and patted his shoulder. "Get some rest early; we have to wake up early tomorrow." 0

"Goodnight, Brother Xu." 0

They exchanged goodnights and headed to their respective bedrooms. Xu Li looked at his wife, who was sound asleep, smiled softly, and turned off the light. 0

Xu Lei, as a typical rich kid, spent his days dreaming of going out to indulge himself, which made his biological clock extremely chaotic—like a worm during the day and a dragon at night. 0

That morning, he was still buried under the covers when his father decided to wake him up by tugging on his ear. "Get up! Wash up and come with your mom and me to the airport." 0

"Are you two going on another business trip?" Xu Lei mumbled sleepily. 0

Xu Haigui chuckled as he patted his shoulder. "Your big brother's child is flying in today at noon; your mom and I need to pick them up. As an uncle, you have to go too." 0

"Huh? When did I get a nephew?" 0

Xu Lei's bloodshot eyes widened in surprise. Xu Haigui grinned. "From your big brother's family." 0

"My big brother Xu Li?" 0

He suddenly pouted and flopped back onto the bed. "Let whoever wants to go go; I'm not going." 0

"You don't have to go if you don't want to," Xu Haigui replied. "But your uncle's daughter is coming back from America these days; why don't you go with your mom to visit them? You might even get set up on a blind date." 0

"I’m not getting married; I’m still so young. Why would I?" Xu Haigui said, lighting a cigarette and taking a slow drag. "Anyway, I already have a grandson. You can stay single your whole life for all I care. In the future, I won’t leave you a single penny. I’ll raise my grandson to be my successor instead of leaving anything to you, the ungrateful son who squanders everything." 0

"Why should that be the case?" Xu Lei shot back, looking at his father. "You said I would take over. Why are you changing your mind now? Are you joking with me?" 0

"Are you going or not?" Xu Haigui replied calmly, fixing his gaze on Xu Lei. "If it weren’t for you deliberately stirring up trouble back then, would your brother have had to suffer outside?" 0
