After a busy day, he decided to reward himself with a roasted lamb in the evening. He set up his phone, then lit a fire and secured the marinated whole lamb, sitting on a small stool as he slowly turned it, occasionally brushing on some oil to prevent it from burning. Soon, Anna arrived in the kitchen to take over his position, while he busied himself with other dishes.
Eva came over shortly after, leaning against the side and watching her husband work. She chattered away about her thoughts after reading, while Xu Li and Anna smiled and occasionally chimed in. Xiong Da and Xiong Er poked their large heads in, drooling at the sight of the rotating lamb. Xu Li took out a large platter of roasted meat from the oven, quickly stuffing a small piece into Eva's mouth to quiet her chatter, and handed another piece to Anna.
Glancing at the eager hamsters, he tore a piece of meat in half and tossed it to them. "Here, have a little for now; I’ll give you more once it's freshly roasted." Xiong Da and Xiong Er munched on the meat contentedly, instinctively lying by the sofa in the living room, waiting for their dinner. Perhaps due to being raised on human milk, these two had high intelligence; they understood simple commands and could even contemplate the correctness of others' words.
Before long, dinner was ready. In the oven, two turkeys stuffed with apples were roasting for the hamsters. The three of them chatted happily as they brought dinner to the table: a perfectly roasted lamb with crispy skin, a large pot of stewed beef head, two stir-fried dishes, and two servings of cold vegetables. The phone stand was a bit too high, only capturing the dishes in frame. Xu Li took a sip of vodka and handed down two hind legs of lamb to Anna and Eva.
Eva took a half-eaten leg of lamb and stuffed it into Xiong Da's mouth while affectionately ruffling his large head. After receiving the leg of lamb, Xiong Da leaned against Anna and began chewing, occasionally opening his mouth to receive bones or chunks of meat from Xu Li.
After finishing their meal, they found that the turkey was still undercooked. However, the two hamsters didn’t mind; their food bowl had layers of apples and potatoes at the bottom topped with turkey and leftover roasted lamb. Xu Li put the beef head in the fridge for tomorrow's meal.
After resting for a while post-dinner, the three went to the study to read and pass time. He finished recording and said at the end of the video: "Many friends have messaged me privately; even my father-in-law has joined in! How eager can you all be? My daughter is only this young; I’ve told her that if she dares to bring home a young man before graduating college, I’ll break his legs! So don’t hold your breath on that one."
"Live well everyone; happiness will come unexpectedly. Goodnight!" After injecting some motivational words into his video, he quickly edited it and clicked send before shutting down his computer. He picked up an unfinished book nearby and savored it; this one titled "Viking Age: From Berserker to Seafarer" was indeed quite good.
The rugged language was immersive as he leaned back in his chair; images of tumultuous seas filled his mind—Viking ships battling through giant waves towards the Scottish Isles under the command of those berserkers. They needed to stockpile food for winter, and raiding was the fastest and most effective method.
Suddenly, a melody surged into his mind—a tune from that world he once fainted into reappeared vividly. He got up to find sheet music and a pen, humming as he wrote down notes. Anna and Eva put down their books, watching their husband hum a tune while engrossed in writing music. They smiled at each other before returning to their reading; compared to shopping or playing around, they preferred immersing themselves in knowledge. Thanks to their remarkable brains, although they couldn’t remember everything perfectly, they could recall most things accurately.
"Anna," he said, "can you look for any books about Ancient Gnosis Language?"
